  1. Steve Lawson Mark Fiora Colin Gooddy Dave Morton (Early days, Crewe etc) Pete Jarman
  2. Loved Moggo to bits but its a BL list, come on! Surprised that Mike Lee hasn't got a mention yet. Soren Sjosten is a great call also.

    Issue 18

Especially trying to dust off the grey matter and do the quiz!
  4. Can be found here: http://www.speedwayplus.com/CustomHouse.shtml
  5. Why not? Eric Boocock? Peter Collins? Tony Millard? Gary Havelock? I'm sure thre must be others who would not prove too expensive
  6. Is 9 John Hooper? 5 May be Mike Warren (but the leathers dont look right).
  7. 3rd down left, I think is Finn Jensen, also same rider is pictured 3rd down on right, and outside him could be Ian Clarke. Cradley rider is most certainly not Kenny Carter. Bottom left is Ivan Mauger
  8. Glad you didnt use 'quote'!! If I had typed it my computer would have crashed at the last sentence!
  9. Excellent as usual. One word though to Tony Mc though - Quote from Page 7 'By 1985, London no longer even had a speedway venue'! Surely the Kestrels weren't so bad that you deleted them from memory!!!!
  10. I think: Top right is Alan Wilkinson
  11. Click on the front page of the Mag (shown below), for £16 you will get 6 bi-monthly Mags starting with Issue 10 (out this week).
  12. Think the Reading 7 may be Hans Wassermann?? Is that about the right time?
  13. Spot on. I do wonder what would have happened if that drain had been covered up in '77, and PC had won two in a row? Maybe the 80s slump could have been, at least partially, avoided?
  14. Think the one thing that British Speedway needs is a multiple world champion. If you look at the countries who have had the most individual championship wins, these are boosted greatly by multiple champs. These countries have also seen a boost in speedway popularity as a result of the successes. If you look at the success that Darts has had as a result of Phil Taylors championship wins, this is accentuated by many potential fans latching on to a winner, whilst an almost proportionate level want to see one of the 'Davids' beat the 'Goliath'. You only need to look at the live gate info for Premier League Darts for proof of the current health enjoyed by the game. Mark Loram and Peter Collins got their respective balls rolling by winning one title, but only sustained success can win the hearts and minds the floating fans, former fans, and potential new fans which will lead the sport into a new golden era in GB.
  15. Is it Uwe Gessner???

    Issue 9

Blimey, I live 5 miles away from their despatch and I havent got mine yet!
  17. Think, to be fair, that part of his popularity was the scrapes that he managed to get himself in and Hackney fans will always associate him with the best times at the club, and other characters such as Roland Danno, Moggo, Thommo, etc... Andy certainly got in the middle of some trouble, and a decent amount of the time it was his fault, BUT this was usually owing to his over enthusiasm rather than anything malicious.
  18. Although he was a promoter of a more recent time than some of those mentioned, and was of a very different style to most of those mentioned, may I suggest Colin Hill for overall contribution to his club/town. If you review the glowing tributes following his untimely death, I feel that he would sit very comfortably in this company.
  19. Dont think Andy Buck is in the second picture, Steve. I think it shows: Kevin Hawkins, Dave Allen, Ian Barney, Andy Fisher (?), Ian Clark, Keith Bloxham, Mick Poole, and Ken Matthews. Have been known to be wrong before though (many many times!) Regards John
