  1. Not been to Saddlebow Rd since 1988 & christ it was a toilet back then, however the track has always been up there amongst the best, stadium looks like it's been dragged into the 21st century as well, what happened to the main stands on the home straight? Cracking meeting, top result & good work from team GB....... A word of caution, the Aussies with Crump & Adams will be a different prospect as will either the Swedes or Danes on a super slick Vojens. Third place in the final will be a result
  2. I really do hope your post is tongue in cheek, if not you really are <pethetic unnecessary personal abuse removed> F1 a global audience running into millions, sell out's wherever they race, country's fighting to hold a race, (Spain excepted), 80,000 attending practice day at Silverstone as opposed to 32,000 at Cardiff........ How many riders are sponsored by global marques? Hampel & Crump if you accept Red Bull..... Virgin Racing, back of the grid also rans, but they are in F1! Speedway exciting as it can be, is & always has been a minority sport. F1 it ain't
  3. Wow, I think First paragraph I got then you went into some foreign tongue, hope TMC speaks it too  ps, £2 doesn't sound bad
  4. Something I'd be interested in. I used to subscribe, but I would prefer to pick & choose the magazines I purchase. Not sure about cost, how much is the magazine in posted form?
  5. 78 & 79 - Bees took the title & defended it. Olsen was Champ in 78 & a very young Tommy Knudsen appeared on the scene & what a rider, him at #7 beating Ivan Mauger. Bees v Hull for the title in 79 was awesome..............well at least through the eyes of a 12 year old lad It was all so simple then, I suppose as I new less about the politics etc then & just enjoyed the racing/smell/atmosphere/exotic names, (Alf Busk). Fantastic days
  6. Please tell me that "Chopper" is not a given name
  7. UK speedway, certainly at EL level is doing a fine job of destroying itself, it does not need the assistance of the big O or anyone else for that matter:blink: He always has championed riding in the wet & argued that it can & should be done.
  8. The Golem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How dare you insult the living deity that is our lord The big O May the fleas of a thousand camels infest your backside If Speedway had more people like Lord Olsen involved, it might just be a little bit more marketable. As for BP, he needs to get away from the blue groove & move to a decent track/promotion, say Brandon, he would thrive As for this GP, destroyed by the weather. End off
  9. Have you considered anger manaqement?
  10. Andy Hackett Cracking little racer, who always appeared on the brink of stepping up from quality reserve to the team proper when some form injury would knock him back.
  11. Don't know about Mrs O? I think Martin was more of a BRISCA man. Takes all sorts I suppose
  12. You mean Our Lord, The CO, Gem, sadly departed........ No I was just thinking an interview with the family would be of interest, after all he was one of the pioneers & Speedway was his living as opposed to most who have other business interests outside.
  13. If I could do maths, I'd be an accountant I just want the issues featuring Shirra & Olsen. Can I do this? As an aside & without wishing tom offend Gem or Lt, how about an interview with the Ochiltree family?
  14. I take it that's a no then
  15. Can you buy individual copies of the mag anywhere, I would like to get hold of the Shirra & Olsen editions if possible? HG
  16. This must have been due to lobotomy he had just prior to signing for you lot ..........
  17. Am I right in thinking the Northerners think the Bavarians are all a bit inbred, seem to recall from my visits to Neuckenik(?) from my army days in Herford that this was the case. ps, great place to watch speedway was Nueckenik, on a warm summers day, on the banking with a beer
  18. Another good issue, although I have issues with Mike Lee & his "Im not a criminal" stance...............right ho!! The man is clearly in denial But thats not to detract from the magazine........ Egon Muller, when he's on about the lack of Germans, he did not mention Martin Smolinski who has quietly gone about his business for the Bees this year & has turned into a excellent solid scoring reserve in his first proper season of full time racing.......... Very strange from old Egon, has Smolly upset him? Seems to me Martin has an exciting future ahead of him
  19. The other being he is #1 on Brandon's most wanted list
  20. No complaints here Jim, don't think anyone expected what happened, its amazing the recovery Eric did make all being considered.
  21. As a Bees fan growing up the Cradley riders were the ones we loved to hate, but for some reason I could never dislike Gundersen........ An excellent idea for a painting JB, you'd certainly have a queue forming down Dudley Wood
  22. Thanks Jim, Nielsen at the back! thats got to be a rare shot Am I right in thinking that this would be the meeting of Eric's accident. Always makes these photos all the more poignant when you see them & makes you realise how fragile a riders careers/health is
  23. Definetly Rick Miller in white & I'd go for Tonny Olsson in blue. I love these 80's early 90's guess who, brilliant............anymore JB?
  24. There was a piece on him years ago when his Aus ban finished, it was in the speedway star. After coming out of nick, where he trained as a French Polisher, he was living with/married to Billy Sanders widow & he had set himself up in the French Polishing business. He did have a run on a bike, apparently quite a respectable time at an Aus track, but did not know what had happened to his equipment after it was siezed by the authorities & wanted a sponsor to be able to ride again, this never materialised. There was also a picture of him at some sort of veteran aussie rider do, but again that was years ago. So I do think he got on with his life, but it would be good to have the full story.
