  1. Henny Kroeze was awful for Sheffield, although great for Halifax, first ever rider to get a 21 point maximum.
  2. I remember Sheffield being 10 points down after 4 heats at Wolverhampton once, and winning 45 - 33, think it was about 1985.
  3. I'm with you on this one Grachan, I agree they didn't expect the rider he once was, but I went to Bradford v Swindon to see him in 1990, and it was pretty painful to watch. I also really used to like Chris Morton who has been mentioned, and he did eventually get back into decent scores in the lower league when he rode for Sheffield in 1993, but it was horrendous to watch him in the first half dozen or so meetings (even allowing for the rest of the Tigers being totally rubbish at the time!). I know he had been out for two years, but he was struggling to pass riders who, with all due respect and no offence meant, wouldn't have got within a lap of him at his best.
  4. Well, I'm here Hi Mrs. S., I've been a Sheffield fan for 25 years now (you get less for murder lol) so I'm quite sure I share many of the same memories that you do. I don't, or even didn't, know many riders though, apart from the Wyer family (mainly Paul). I used to like Glenn Doyle as well, I saw him at both Long Eaton and Bradford while Sheffield were closed. I really hope Long Eaton can be revived, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.
  5. It always seemed to be a bit more "sensationalist" than the Star to me, although it seems a shame that the sport can't support more than one weekly paper, lots of other "minority" sports seem to.
