  1. Good thread.. anyway, Gauloises Pairs semi final, Sheffield, 15th September 1977. Heat 1: Doug Wyer, Craig Pendlebury, Martin Ashby, Geoff Bouchard. So I think that's a full house. The 7 teams were Sheffield, Swindon, Belle Vue, King's Lynn, Wolverhampton, Bristol and Exeter. The only ones not here now are Ivan Mauger and Alan Wilkinson, plus Tony Boyle who was one of the track reserves.
  2. Thank you I've seen Danny King and Erik Riss much maligned on platforms like this, for a long time, but it was mainly down to the efforts of those two in the first leg at Owlerton, that won you the Knockout Cup x
  3. He did all of that (photos/autographs etc) at Sheffield by all accounts as well, he has certainly immersed himself in the whole Club, which is brilliant to see. I hope he races in the UK next year
  4. Congratulations to the Witches, I do have Witchy friends so I'm pleased for them For me the job was half done on Monday night - I tend to think Max Fricke's poor performance then, was balanced off by Emil and Jason not having great meetings, it was the points from Danny King and Erik Riss, and to a lesser extent, Keynan Rew, on Monday, that made the difference. Only Jason Edwards really covered himself in any kind of glory for the Tigers tonight.
  5. You can have a like for that last sentence Although I don't know why I'm laughing at this, I've got to put up with him in my team for the remainder of this season
  6. I must I have wondered more than once, if they really have considered it!!!
  7. They are contracted to cover 18 meetings, which include the British Final, the 4 Play off Semis, and the Play Off Final ie 12 League fixtures. The original deadline for fixtures to be completed was August 31st, however this was extended a few weeks ago (presumably well after Eurosport's League schedule was planned), due to rain offs causing a fixture backlog. This is exactly the same deal that BT Sport had.
  8. Me neither, nobody is telling me he doesn't know of some eminent surgeon.
  9. We might struggle with getting Bomber as guest tomorrow....
  10. Yes, probably the Sheffield persecution complex in me coming out, as well I know... Silly me I've never met them or anything, but I get the impression that they don't help themselves, at times.
  11. I'm a little disappointed you say this. The original was rained off on 3rd August, and there were no Premiership race nights between then and the revised deadline, that both sides were free, and heaven knows there were enough grumbles about League fixtures not being completed before the deadline last season. At the time the rearranged date was announced, it said that all riders were available. Obviously since then, Tobi's now in Poland, Dan is injured, and there's been enough said this week as it is, about Adam, so I'll leave that one there. Leicester hammered us in the A fixture down there, and we were going into the rained off meeting with Connor Mountain instead of Tai, so there's no guarantee Sheffield would have fared any better had that been able to be run.
  12. Because there were no Mondays/Thursdays where both sides were free, even with the extension to the Play Off deadline. Presumably worked it out that this Saturday was the one where most of the riders were available.
  13. This isn't the 3rd attempt to run this meeting, it's always been scheduled for this date. It's the meeting that was rained off on May 11th and July 24th that will have its 3rd attempt on September 7th. So I'm actually not sure if tonight's is Round 1 or Round 2!!! As for Adam Ellis, there was a similar statement on his page after the Leicester meeting at home in June, when Sheffield did have a week's break in fixtures. So I wonder if his social media team have copied and pasted without really looking/thinking.
  14. King Jamie!!! How the devil are you? Not seen you/heard about you for ages Anyway, I absolutely agree with you on pronunciation, the way they were laughing between themselves about was totally unprofessional. If I was doing a job like that, I would consider finding out how to pronounce names properly, part of that job. When the Panthers were at Sheffield last Thursday, Ryan Guest pronounced it "Voy-de-woo", which I'd guess is pretty much it, given my (very) limited knowledge of Polish linguistics.
