Unfortunately he does not ride for his Russian club Mega-Laga this year. There was some disagreement with the management during the winter and Emil left to concentrate on riding for Bydgoszcz in Poland only.

Australian Championship Dates Confirmed

Sounds good, especially with the final round coming to Sydney Showgrounds ! Good luck to the promoters -
That's what we already had for the World Team Cup in the late 90's. I can't remember why it was scraped, but when BSI took over and estalished the SWC, the new organisers wanted more of a spectacle and 5 Teams and 5 rider races. Thanks BSI !

How are the attendance figures in general for Danish Superliga ? For so long many people in Danish speedway wouldn't want to change from their old 4-Team League system to the team vs team system, but I seem to believe that the attendances at the tracks are on the up since the two-team version has been established. Is that correct ?

Unfortunately there are no speedway tracks in the Moscow area these days. The Russian tracks are all much more to the East.

Are there still replays of the E-league matches on the free (Polsat2) channel ?
-
Spot on - this is why I get more and more disillusioned with the sport, or rather with the people running the sport of speedway racing !

European Pairs Final, Lendava 5.8.
Bavarian replied to tomazpozrl's topic in International World of Speedway
Yes, Iris, the ref at the infamous lottery World U21 Final at Wiener Neustadt last year was indeed Mr. GRODZKI from Poland ! -
@spanner47 meeting will most surely start at 2 pm as it is the traditional start time for speedway in Germany on Sundays and Bank Holidays (as is October 3). And You can expect the meeting to last 3 hours ! This is also (unfortunately) the usual length of a Sunday afternoon speedway meeting in Germany. And perhaps You may fly into Munich Airport (MUC) You would not even need a car to go to the Olching speedway track as You could take the S-Bahn from the airport to Munich and then change into another line to Olching (which is a suburb of Munich). Should take You no longer than 60 minutes from airport to stadium)

Mike Fullerton is 56 y/o and David Bargh only 44 y/o !

Where the hell was Kyle Legault ???? He was officially listed in the programme as No.18 and with the two British boys out, both of the reserves would have got their chance. But as only one of the two reserves (Hougaard) was there, the meeting went ahead with only 15 riders. Kyle would have had the chance to ride the complete meeting and possibly reach the world final ! But his place in the pits was empty. Sheffield's Reg Wilson was there, but no Kyle Legault ! Why ???

Örnarna 45, Indianerna 45. Swedish Elite Serien Round 12 on AUGUST 27, 1991 Att.: 2,326 Örnanrna dropped a vital point at home - despite Tatum's maximum. Indianerna's reserves Lindgren and Flood were best for Kumla. taken from LOADER'S INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY ANNUAL 1992

The Terenzano track is right on the outskirts of the town of Udine, which is a rather big town with good accomodation. Recommended, but it seems to rain there every time they have a speedway meeting! Beware!

A Little Time Out Just To Remember

And not to forget Robert Dados did commit suicide the other year, too. And now I hear there has been a similar case again this year - Lukasz Romanek! Why is it that such things always happen in Polish speedway? What is going wrong there for their talented youngsters? Too much pressure? -
It has always been their national football stadium. And their national speedway stadium, too! A couple of days ago I saw a few minutes of the Poland vs Colombia match (where the Colombian goalkeeper scored a freak goal) and the speedway track was clearly visible around the outside of the football pitch. It can still be used for speedway at any time, and in fact was used for a GP only a few years back. However, attendances for speedway at Chorzow (Kattowice) are not good enough for such a huge stadium.

I can confirm that it is the Pocking near Passau, right on the German / Austrian border. Therefore Linz in Austria is indeed the closest bigger airport (less than 100km and conected via autobahn all the way). In Germany Munich is the closest, but is about 150km away. Meeting at Pocking will start at 18.00 h

I heard a rumour that he has died. Hope this is NOT true. Can anyone of our Polish friends either deny or confirm please.

Canadian,african,austrian Riders In British League
Bavarian replied to Puma23's topic in Years Gone By
One more name - Wally Hill - a South African (born in England?) who rode in the National League in 1984 or 85? And does anyone remember the South African second halfer who had that unfortunate racing accident with the poor Paul Muchene? I think it was Nick Floyd and I believe he rode for Arena Juniors that year. By the way, Muchene, who was killled in that race, was himself half African - he had a Kenyan father (or mother?). The other half of his parents was English. -

star ghost, can You be a bit more specific about Tom and Dick Sayer ? When did these twins ride for Norwich? Are You sure they are South African - I don't think I have ever heard of them before ! -
Did You know that he (Tiger Lewis) rode speedway in Singapore in 1930? Does anyone know anything about speedway in Singapore? Seems to be a pretty much fogotten chapter in the history of speedway! By the way, Jack Sharp was another Aussie advertised to race at the Singapore Speedway in June of 1930. Do You Aussie history experts have any details about Singapore Speedway?
-
By the way, Hazzman, Easter Monday is a traditional raceday for the Polish League since many, many years!
-
Does anyone know of a 1930 Australian rider by the name of Tiger Lewis?
-
Very good - that's him. What a great name! Surely, McDonald and Thistlewaite were the only Papuas ever to ride in Britain. Do You remember for which club McDonald rode? I seem to remember that he broke his leg in a crash on a British track, which ended his speedway career.
