  1. Thats what I meant by NORTH. Whatever the time of the meeting the Sots will always be disadvantaged!!! I did Sue - I used your address!!!
  2. Just done some google mapping and got the following: Newcastle.........5hrs 26mins Scunny.............4hr 55mins Norwich............4hrs 41mins Kings Lynn ........4hrs 23 mins Ipswich.............4hrs 13mins (Sue's place!! ) Ramsgate.........4hrs 12mins Penzance..........3hrs 56mins Manchester.......3hrs 28mins Whilst I appreciate the need for proper rest breaks I cant see it being an overly early start for any of the above. If you factor in things like going to the pub and meeting up then it changes but people have to decide what they want to get out of the day. Obviously those living North have (and always did have) to make chouces as it will be a very long day if they consider doing it in a day. But overall it still looks do-able. And those on trains need planning more closely.
  3. Not go!!! Oh and you have my name in the quote box but it was a BSI quote!!! smug g*t!!!!!!
  4. Taken from - http://www.speedwayworld.tv/en/latest/ BSI Speedway, rights holders of the FIM Speedway Grand Prix Series, can today confirm the 2009 FIM British Speedway Grand Prix will start at the new time of 1700H (5pm) local time, at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium on 27 June 2009. “We are now coming into our ninth consecutive year at the Millennium Stadium and in a way the FIM British Speedway Grand Prix has been a victim of its own success. As the popularity of the event has grown it has been increasingly difficult to accommodate all the fans wishing to stay in Cardiff on the Saturday night.” explains Paul Bellamy, managing director, BSI Speedway. “By moving the start time to five pm it allows supporters the option of either staying in the city overnight or returning home on the same day as the event.” The 2009 FIM British Speedway Grand Prix will be the fifth event of the 11 round individual world championship FIM Speedway Grand Prix Series. Fans who book their tickets before 31 December 2008 will be able to purchase them at 2008 prices. Tickets are available by calling 0871 230 7155 or via www.speedwayworld.tv So are they listening to the fans are are sales of tickets so low they need to do something fast?? Hmm- cynical thinking or are they doing good by the fans - you decide!!!
  5. Get in there - more booze time afterwards!!! Bird - are you rwading / listening!!!!!
  6. Latest news from Jack Young Cup - There is one heat race to go before the semi finals. Rory Schlein is automatically into the final having won all his heats. Despite having a bad stomach upset (thats the polite words - and not what the text said!!) Nigel Sadler is also going well. 6 races to go before the final. I dont have any more detail - next text will be after the final.+ EDIT: Riders for the final are: Schlein (12) Summers (9) Bugeja (8) Sadler (8) 2nd EDIT Meeting won by Summers Schlein didnt get off the line and pulled off the track. Congrats to Summer but a good run out for Rory as this is his only meet before the Aussie Titles start in January Thanks to Lynette Schlein for the texts
  7. Vodka's good!!! Pre-booked all the rooms - eek. I really hope they meant pre-booked all the remaining rooms. But then again it could be fun - I'll go with the content of your text Bird
  8. Excuse me - Im not sure the full group have agreed your inclusion in our little gathering. What can you bring to the weekend - we have a very big list to tick off you know!!!!! .
  9. Hubby thinks the schedule will remain the same for Sept 09 but what does he know - they are normally the last to find out!!!!
  10. so what flag do they use? I noticed that on speedwayworld a 'scandinavian' GP uses a flag containing the appropriate countries but the Nordic GP uses a Danish one!!!!
  11. Thanks Tomaz, thats one one I looked at but thought it was to big!!! Thanks Sandie
  12. Terenzano Italy - what can people tell us about this venue and has anyone got co-ordinates of the track so we can check it out on google earth please. I found something by the railway line but it looks huge and with no stands. So - is this track close to hotels and a town with pubs by or do we need a car? Which airports are the best to use? Details - I need details - pretty please
  13. Recently found out that ABTA are a waste of space!! Many of you know about Nikki's doomed Peru trip. Well after months and months of letter sending (at registered prices) the last letter simply said - If you wish to go to Arbitration then contact .......... Why the heck didnt they say that 6 months ago. What a complete waste of time. And I suspect that the process in arbitration would probably take another 6 months starting all over again. Nikki's friend has already dropped out and taken the original offer and having taken advise it looks like Nikki will end up doing the same as they case her case is now weakened. So the corporates win again
  14. OH - please do, it could be fun!!!! and we'll tell you when to stop. And stop picking on Bomber it wouldnt be allowed if he was a Robin now would it!!!!
  15. Wasnt it Shawn that had an accident last year - Im not sure but something to do with him nearly detaching a limb from his body. Maybe that has lead to lack of work and thus lack of funds. Whatever the reason I hope that this thread remains with sympathetic interest and does not turn into a lynching mob relating to peoples misfortunes - please.
  16. Pleased you said that as I was thinking the same. But as I dont read all the forum I didnt want to say anything if there was new news. If no GP riders was the case then Jon Cook would be scr***d - so I cant see it being tabled.
  17. In a word (or several) Chris has had a cr*p year by his standards. His body language has shown that very clearly. Im hoping that 2009 will see a new and re-juvinated Chris whether at Brandon or elsewhere. Lets see what happens in March /April and start again.
  18. Being very patriotic I am over the moon that both Chris and Scott are back in the GP's. Can now start looking and booking the ones we fancy attending. Both, I think are in the last chance saloon this year with Scott nearing the end of his GP days and Chris out to prove he can be a top 8 rider. Those that say that Kennett and Woofinden should be in are really only wearing hearts on their sleeves and I applaude you for that. We all have our favourites and support them all the way. Brits travel well and at the end of the day it is a business as well as a world championship series. BRING IT ON!!!!
  19. Which is why I wouldnt have even attempted to write a letter of complaint. However if you have equipment designed to enhance your enjoyment you would like to think that it works. When the location was chosen for the event it wasnt just chosen for the wide open space but for all the facilities that go along with it. And the cost of hiring that venue is reflected in this. So whilst I personally wouldnt write to complain I still have a level of expectation based on the amount of money I spend on my ticket purchased.
  20. I agree. We and many others had that view and it was tough listening to the oohhs and arhhhs from he other end of th stadium as they showed replays and also embarrassing when you have t ask the person next to you - who came third!!! My money is just as good as theirs but they got more for it than I did!!!
  21. Pards Your hotel choice seems to be some way outside of the main city. We use Trip Advisor for all our planning and it may be worth you looking at: see here It would appear your hotel is not the best reviewed. Ideally you are looking for a hotel in OLD TOWN or WENCELAS SQUARE. Prague is divided into sections and you are looking at PRAGUE 1 for your main central location. Also if you can book everthing independantly that sometimes works out cheaper. Queen Bee and I had a hotel booked last year (Ramada I think!?) and as we got closer to the GP the price of the room kept dropping. So we kept cancelling and re-booking - saved ourselves nearly £100 I think. Hope that is helpful Sandie
  22. Only if it looks like the winner will be someone the BSI wants at a GP!!!! Sorry - the cynical side of me is at it again!!!!!
  23. It will certainly make the wait for who will be the Cardiff wildcard a little more interesting!!!!
