Rye Raiders V Buxton Hitmen Mon 7th May..approx 4pm
Neil H replied to waco's topic in National League Speedway
I can remember years ago, travelling down to Rye House to see the riders go out for one 'race' before packing up and going home. One didn't even bother to clean his bike and strapped it to the back of his car (they still did that back then) for a 'natural' wash. -
Buxton Vs Dudley Nlkoc Sunday 6th May
Neil H replied to Killer Cat from Mars's topic in National League Speedway
We understood your point the first time, no need to repeat yourself. The person concerned doesn't follow speedway so doesn't know whether Dudley will bring one man and a dog or 30 coach loads. She also has another commitment before arriving at Buxton. I'd have worried if was sold out before heat 1 but once the racing started, you ought to have been watching that not thinking of your stomach. -
After what happened last time he agreed to ride for Buxton, I doubt that Adam will be Tim's replacement (unless there is no one else)
-
I've always wanted Lee Smart to ride for Buxton as he rarely drops points around the Buxton track and his average would fit (if my maths is right). Quick calculations say Lee is 10.60 and Buxton have 10.93 to play with.
-
From Buxton's track photographer, tomorrow's Press & Practice is off. Nothing on the official site as yet but I trust Ian's word as he would have been there for the photos. Snow stops play.
-
Bernie, you aren't wrong. I think that McKinna is signed as cover for the Potters first few meetings (riders missing to ride in the PL). One rider still to be announced.
-
Usual positive post from you, bw double. Richard did well when he rode for Buxton in the past (end of 2010, I think) and he will put in 100% this time. The travelling distance is the only slight issue but the family backing he has will sort that out.
-
Is that because HMRC won't accept them filled in in in crayon?
-
For a club like Buxton, they will dine out on that for a long time to come. There will never be another season like that.
-
Can't wait to see Gino around Buxton. Saw him race at Belle Vue and he was excellent.
-
They had to make up for the previous year or else Dudley wouldn't want to play again
-
BW Double - Doubtful that Paul will start the season in the team as he would be in the Top 5 with Ryan and Mikey Neale probably starting at reserve. Greg - Lee was working hard last time I saw him at Buxton. He has recovered from the injuries that ended his speedway career but we count ourselves as lucky to see him when he rode for the Hitmen.
-
According to a reliable source, The Dean Machine is back.
-
With riding at Rye House on the Saturday, it looks more likely to be Mildenhall (probably will still have snow @ Buxton then ).
-
Tim will get 100% support from everyone at Buxton now that he has signed and I wish him all the best for the season ahead.
-
There have been plenty of riders who have looked at home on their first visit to Buxton and others who have never, despite years of experience, mastered it. A rider of Tim's average needs to be scoring from the off and not 'learning' his home track. Anyway, that is my personal opinion and it is up to the Buxton promotion as to who they sign. Whoever it is, the fans will be behind them as always.
-
One thing you neglect to include is that he also scored 2 points in another meeting this year (and using your way of highlighting - he was beaten by Ryan Blacklock) and last year he scored 3 in another meeting. Even when he has won races in the past, he very rarely looks comfortable around the turns.
-
No disrespect but Tim Webster would be one of the last that I personally would include. Nothing to do with his ability or anything but he just cannot get around the Buxton track. Ryan is the one highlight fom this season and will only get better in 2012.
-
Good idea apart from one little thing - where are all of the riders coming from? We have a struggle to fill the ten teams as it is without trying to find another 56 riders.
-
Thought you had agreed for Buxton on the 9th with an American-style Individual? Confirmed on Sunday that the Buxton start marshal can still remember what yards are
-
Should be a good afternoon as it is something different to other meetings. Good job the Buxton start marshall is old enough to remember what yards are
-
A heat leader scoring 2 points may have been a reason. Tim Webster has always struggled to get around Buxton and yesterday was no different. Both sides had misfortune and there was some good racing with the weather holding out somehow.

Nl Cut Off Date- September 11th
Neil H replied to CrystalCastles's topic in National League Speedway
The issue with that is teams would look to complete more home meetings than away ones as they are more likely to win more and the away ones they do race will be against teams that they have a good chance of beating. Thats assuming the the meeting is 'promoted'. As far as the system is concerned, the promotors have chosen to do it this way and have done so for a few season now so they must think that it works. By moving the cut-off on another 2 weeks can mean that trophies are not decided. Last season, it turned out that Buxton had 2 semi-finals and 2 finals to arrange in the last six weeks of the season and someone else could face the same this year. Buxton were exceedingly lucky with the weather but this season that such team who is in with a chance of doing 'the double' might not be so lucky. -
Nl Cut Off Date- September 11th
Neil H replied to CrystalCastles's topic in National League Speedway
Teams have until the end of October to complete their league fixtures. Due to the way that the system works, the cut-off won't be extended and some teams will ride more than others at that point. Fixtures like Newport's visit to Buxton don't need to be scheduled before the cut-off as neither team can make the play-offs. I'm pretty sure (without checking) that we have had a season where the final Top 4 weren't the four who contested the play-offs. -
He did run wide on the exit of the fourth turn and hit the kickboard hard but seemed OK when he walked back to the pits. Adam's hand looked pretty bad when he took his glove off - thankfully he was able to walk away from a heavy crash. Track conditions really suited the Buxton team today and The Dean Machine was seriously delighted with his win over John Oliver in Heat 8
