I don't have a problem with this new ruling and i'm all for guys getting their full allocation of rides. As has already been said, the guys still have to go out and win the races and imagine the stick they'll get from the opposition fans when they fail. I think this ruling will help keep some meetings alive and it is more for the benefit of the televised meetings to make them look more exciting. Any fan out there watching there Team fall 8 points behind in a match, will be only too happy to see their number one rider used a Joker and score double points. It's swings and roundabouts for me cos the guys who would have been Tac Subbed under the old system will still take their rides and probably fail to score anyway. I say give it a chance.

One other ruling that comes into effect next season in the KO Cup is the 13A ruling. This should avoid any further embarrassment for Coventry fans as there will no longer be a Heat 14. 1-13 then 13A then heat 15.

Very good effort Team GB. Shame we couldn't get a top three place but you have all done us proud. You can all come home with your heads held high. -
Sweden World Champions 2003!!

Yeah! Many Congratulations to Sweden. Shame the Brits couldn't get a top three place. The one good thing for me is that the Aussies didn't win it! -

Middlo, Thanks for taking the time to post your message,it was very much appreciated. You and your boys have done the Country proud already. Best of luck tonight and best wishes to all involved with Team GB. -
1-Poland 2-Australia 3-Great Britain I have a strange feeling that the pressure may get to the Danes and that there will be more than a few incidents in tonights meeting. Can't wait. Come on GB!!!!!!!!!!

Rickardsson out of SWC?
Lanzilla replied to Pete's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Shame that Tony has had to pull out, although it helps Team GB in their quest to qualify for the Finals. Hopefully Tony will be back to full fitness soon. Would rather have seen Lindback in as a replacement. -
Polish Team for the SWC

Not trying to court controversy here, but having watched the finish line incident between Protasiewicz and Darkin on a number of occasions now,it does look as if Pepe gave him a deliberate nudge.Whether it was frustration at being beaten or not i don't know. The Russian seemed to take it very well though in all fairness, but i do think there was a little bit of niggle there. -
That has to be the highlight of the World Cup so far for me.What a shame it didn't quite come off. Never thought i'd see the day!!!!!!!

Poor World Team Cup !

I suppose like any World Cup event, the action will really hot up when we get to the business end of the week. I think the Final will be an absolute corker. -
Polish Team for the SWC
Lanzilla replied to eM_Pe's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
The Poles can either be very good or very poor.If they trap well then they are hard to chase down and could surprise a lot of people. I would expect them to finish fourth overall, behind Australia,Sweden and Denmark, with a fighting GB Team in fifth place. As a Poole fan it would be nice to see Kasprzak, although i think he may be the odd one out tonight.A shame also that Walasek isn't in the reckoning as he is a fantastic rider and i hope he is gracing our shores again soon. How is Cegielski progressing????? -
Poor World Team Cup !

[quote="rabbit Did you think so? I really enjoyed that first meeting - thought there was plenty of good racing for positions particularly for 2nd and 3rd places. I agree with Peter about reducing the number of countries - look at last night it was like 2 separate meetings going on. Perhaps really make it a team cup by putting eight teams into 2 leagues of 4 and have a mini league over the first 3 days each team meeting each other in their league with the top 2 going forward into a semi and then a final. What a great idea!!!!! Would be much more entertaining.Imagine a Pool A and a Pool B consisting of 4 teams each.We could run two matches - one from each Pool - per day over three days with the top two from each going forward to the semis, culminating in a Grand Final preceded by a third place play-off match. This would give us ten matches to watch over a five day period and each match could be run in the same way as our League Matches are run.We could have seven man Teams which gives us a chance to blood the youngsters, and if each Team took a squad of say ten riders then there would be cover for any injuries. I think this would be more entertaining than the one man per race format we have now. -
Event 2 tonight - Come on Team GB.

Id like to think that Team GB can make it through to the Finals.I don't think we have a realistic chance of winning the event, and to be honest i don't care as long as the Guys show the same level of passion, pride and commitment to the cause as they did last night. I wonder if we'd have finished second last night if the Americans had been there???? It's a shame they weren't as it would have been one hell of a meeting then!! -

Danish Riders have their say!!!
Lanzilla replied to Lanzilla's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Why not? The original post was a 'bit funny' but the explanation and logic behind it was a off the mark. When your learning another language you tend to pick up phrases that you often repeat a lot as you cannot remember the words to say what you actually want to say, you know? So what was Peter Beardsley's excuse then DD??? He's English and every time he was interviewed, or a panelist on tv he said -'To be fair'- about a zillion times. -

Yeah 'GOOD LUCK GB' i think we're going to need plenty of it. I think we can make the Play-offs and have a slim chance of making the Final. -

Lanzilla replied to Lanzilla's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Just to reassure the humourless among my fellow posters-and thankfully there are only a few-I am only having a giggle at the amount of times the Danes say 'You Know' during an interview. The fact that any non English speaking Countries can grasp our language as well as they do is amazing, although i suppose it is in their interest to learn our language and not quite so important for us to learn theirs. I wonder when they are learning English if - 'You Know'- is drummed into them, or is it something that creeps in along the way??? It's amazing on this forum that when you try to have a harmless bit of fun that one or two get stroppy Knickers about it. Perhaps Stevehone - Your signature should read..........The thing i miss most is my sense of humour!! -
Lukas Dryml Injury
Lanzilla replied to Chris Brown's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
It seems ironic to me that no so long ago 'Airfences' were described as the best thing to happen in the sport as far as rider safety is concerned. I think they are crucial on the bends where a vast majority of accidents happen, but pehaps are not necessary along the straights. Lukas was very fortunate last night and i am very relieved that he is relatively ok. After the recent bad injury to Cegielski,i have to admit to fearing the worst when i saw him lying on the track. Get well soon Lukas. -
