  1. The club doesn't just need some rich benefactors. It still has to be run. Chris, with his wife and Richie Hawkins managed the club and they have all said they do not want to do that in the future. Who ever buys the club still has to find people with the time, the business know how, and speedway contacts to actually run it on a day to day basis.
  2. Does club anyone know who administers the 400 club? I joined when it started in 1996 and will now have paid in to the fund around £1800. When it started it did have around 400 members although I believe there is probably less than half that number who still contribute. However after paying out the prize money at least £250.000 must have been raised but no accounts have ever been published and members have never been told what the money has been used for. As my monthly £5 is still being collected it would be nice to have a little information.
  3. Over the weekend I have been reading Norman Jacobs excellent book 'Speedway in East Anglia and it reminded me that we were in the same situation in January 1996 when John Louis stated that he was 99% certain that there would be no speedway at Foxhall that year. The local MP at the time Jamie Cann together with the Evening Star mounted a campaign organizing public meetings and raising funds which allowed the club to continue. The big difference between then and now is that then Ipswich had a local MP that cared about the town and its residents and we had a local newspaper that had actual investigative reporters.
  4. I don't think that we were suggesting that we should still play these tracks we were replying to the post asking us what our memories were of the music we remembered from when we first attended speedway.
  5. In addition to those already mentioned, other old Foxhall favourites include:- Piltdown Rides Again - The Piltdown Men Nut Rocker - B Bumble & the stingers On the Rebound - Floyd Cramer Mouldy Old Dough - Lieutenant Pigeon Hot Butter - Popcorn I was Kaiser Bills Batman - Whistling Jack Smith The Clap Clap Sound - The Klaxons Right Here, Right Now - Fat Boy Slim
  6. There is no mention in the Ipswich fixture list of either Jason's testimonial or the mooted Under 19 event.
  7. I have discovery plus through Sky. In the past I have watched the Grand Prix 's and league matches with no problem. However today when I click the FIM Speedway of Nations I get the following, 'Sorry this content isn't available with your current pass from your affiliate provider. Anyone else having this problem?
  8. This year with the GP being in August all the hotels, Airbnbs, etc are all even more exorbitantly priced than ever. I think it may well affect the attendance.
  9. Web site confirms Chris Harris.. It's a pity we couldn't have had Scott Nicholls.
  10. If Kyle Howarth doesn't ride due to injury the Sheffield side will only have one rider that took part in the meetings leading to this final whereas Ipswich will track the identical seven riders that beat Leicester back in April.
  11. The attendances at televised meetings always drops considerably, therefore one wonders if it is actually in the clubs best interest (financially) to make the playoffs. Might this be why we have not made any late changes to the team?
  12. I noticed that we had tactfully decided to drop the practice of flying our riders national flags on the centre green.
  13. On the Speedway updates site. He had two rides 2+1, and 3. Total 5+1.
  14. Does anyone know why Emil only had two rides for Torun last night (28/3/23) ? I hope he wasn't injured.
