Personally, I thought they should of shaken it up a bit more. I would like to see max of top 6 qualify for next years event. No wildcards as they don't bring anything to the overall picture-if Hans Andersen can muster up enough points to be in the top 8 with riding only 3 GPs then he should be in or whats the point?? Under 21 champion to replace wildcard, or if already in it 2nd place. If tapes touched-no reserve but rider starts 15 metres back Rest of qualification made up of GP challenge and meeting(s) involving bottom 10 finishers. Obviously finals for GP qualification would be run after current GP round finishes This would work with say country qualifiers to GP challenge as they are this year but say have 2 finals with bottom 10 split into the finals vying for 8 places over all. The bottom 10 not in the GP challenge would join the challenge in the finals by way of being in this years GP. That leaves one place and this could be a nominated rider from each federation and a BSI/FIM jury deciding who would best be suited for the place. i.e. a rider who finished 7th in GP and missed GP challenge through injury but has demonstrated high averages in league racing etc. a thought for this year though, if tony rikardsson finishes in the top 8 this year then how bout only the top 7 other riders qualify and the BSI/FIM have the balls to give an extra place to either Mark Loram or Hans Andersson next year?? In a nutshell top 6 qualify outright 1 place for under 21 champ or second place if already qualified 8 places from GP challenge and bottom 10 GP placings culminating in 2 finals and top 4 from each final going through 1 rider nominated for special reasons =16 riders No wildcards and permanent young reserves that follow GP around and get GP meeting experience anyway over to you lot for thoughts and ideas. ta Robin p.s. Is Bydgoszcz the size of a very small village then?? I made a fairly late booking to Wroclaw and found a hotel no problem. I made a reservation yesterday with supposedly "live" vacancies and today it has come back with none available. It did however come back with an alternative in Krakow!!!!!! As it is i'm flying to Poznan and hiring a car so don't mind driving a wee bit, so if anyone else has any suggestions please post them or i will be packing my tent me thinks

Hackett-what planet are you from, there was loads of passing and it was a cracking meeting. A great advert for speedway. Agree about the joker, but it's in the rules so it's the same for everyone. bring on the next meeting

Why are the GP qualifiers not on TV anywhere?? if they are anywhere can someone post the details on here. Incidently I sometimes catch a program calle Moto + on Skysports. It sometimes shows ice speedway, grasstrack (solo and sidecar)and sidecar speedway worth a quick fix

My hotel booking for the Wroclaw has been changed to the Hotel Buggati. Although a bit peeved, they have given me 25% off my original booking so I have accepted. Does anyone have any info on this Hotel??? Have I played a blinder or is looking a bit Wayne Rooney??

I have asked this before- so sorry if this is the second time I am looking for a picture of Bobby Ott which was published on the back cover of the speedway star. Sounds simple enough, except that i don't know the date and only know the rough years early to mid nineties (prob 93-95) I'm pretty sure Bobby Ott was riding for Kings Lynn at the time. I have contacted Mike Patrick but he has so many photos that without an exact date it will be like like looking for a needle in a haystack Can anyone tell me the issue of the Star that I am looking for or can supply me with the date of the issue thanks

Thanks people, I would of normally flown direct to Wroclaw but the return flight on Sunday is too late for me to get back so I am trying Poznan instead as it is an earlier flight (and it's cheaper) I take it the PKP is the train company/station How expensive or cheap are the taxis? and are they always readily available and reliable? The biggest fear is that I have got to get back to Poznan from Wroclaw on sunday morning and don't want to miss my flight

3 questions 1. Im going by train from Poznan to Wroclaw for the GP -Has anyone used the trains and how reliable are they? 2. personally I would like to see Loram in as I believe the format would suit him better. Also Hans would get the nod from me as I believe he reached a few semi's and a final this year so IMO he proves he can make the grade. Scotty is our best rider at the moment and again IMO I think he is not that far away from being more consistent and progressing beyond the semi's. Lee, lucky to be there, but hope he takes the chance and proves some people wrong- if he F(**)s up this year he can't blame it on his ill engine tuner etc etc. More importantly I wish they would do away with the wild card as it doesn't mean anything when it comes to the big picture. I would go for 16 in and 2 permanent reserves for every round i.e two under 21's and if they do well when called upon then it would give them a better chance for making the GP's proper and also go someway to seeing if they can step up to the full time GP

No but what a great pic of Mr Showtime It was a similar sort of pose but he is alone in the picture does anyone else remember the days when the back cover of the speedway star had quality pictures and not adverts for the GP or world cup (no offence Middlo)
