  1. My response isAndy Smith should have his chance are they frightened that he may ge back into the GP's if so good luck to him.HIS AGE SHOULD NOT BE AN ISSUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. IMO Tony should pack in now as whether age or injuries have caught up with him may be the reason?.As for being the best Mauger won his last title at 40 yrs old and was still at the top of his game and never gave up as TR seems to be IMO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Is it not true that all those riders that split the money for rider of the night final were cheating the public.I was in in the pits during many matches in the 70's and you saw things going on between riders all the time. They would not consider it cheating merely doing a bit of business. To hammer Simmo for his crimes mainly admitting them is more than little harsh
  4. Well done Tony/M another great read issue 14 just a little note in the John Jackson article that he almost won the div/2 title and actually beat Glover.First of all if he had used the engine my father supplied and his brother Fred tuned he would have won .John decided to use a borrowed motor for his first 2 rides and it was useless .The main point of the matter is that Carl Glovers dad went mad at JJ for beating his son ??????
  5. Thanks Simmo hope you will post some messsages again on this and other topics.
  6. I have now finehed the book and was not shoked in the least by what Simmo ,said IMO he was no worse than many others of his era.He says quite rightly that he was lazy by nature and that was his biggest crime to me. Simmo was I am sad to say a fool in many ways but when I met him he was patient and signed his autograph ,he would also listen to what you had to say aswell.
  7. Simmo's biggest crime is getting caught and telling the truth alot top sportmen(and women) have skeltons in their cupboards.Look what happen in the F1 last week that fella ( Shuie) dosn,t try to hide it even and lets not forget Simmo was still a great rider!!!!!!
  8. Got mine Sat /morning in the post signed as promised!!!!!!!!!!
  9. Got my copy of the book yesterday signed as promised and Iam half way through already a great read.It is a fair and honest account and confirms some of my opinions of riders in the 70s, well do Simmo and of course Tony Mc
  10. I still think Pete Jarman may have been the last on shale to win a race although Chris Mort used one of the very last made and blew it to pieces I believe!!!
  11. He must be due a comeback the state of british s/way I am only half joking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. TMC I would just like to say that every issue has been excellent so far and I can't wait for issue 14 .IMO after watching ,reading and seeing quite alot in 30 odd yrs as as s/way fan, your doing a great job long may it continue.!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. Pete Jarman rode a Jap for most if not all his career and that ended in the 80's I think with East/b.
  14. Excellent read yet again will we have a John Jackson piece soon please another NL great of the 70s
  15. As has been said Trevor is like alot of riders the back bone of our sport and they can't all be Maugers but they are just as important in my book.
  16. Can any one give me any info on Sonny he was manager at Elle/PORT in the senventies when I met him .His son Stan won the NL league title with Bradford I believe.
