Gb World Cup Team
suzuki star 882 replied to DarrenCook's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
quote orion kings lynn are one of the biggest teams in the uk with a massive budget hence they can win the league by signing Darcy Ward Wrong. Kings Lynn started this season, and signed Darcy Ward, without a main team sponsor. Whilst they have now picked up a sponsor I very much doubt that their input is "massive". -

Cardiff Gp
suzuki star 882 replied to panthersfan's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
A lot of the hotels in the area are trying to cash in by hiking up room prices. This could have put off a lot of people from attending so the SGP organisers have brought the start time forward so people can travel home the same night. -
Grand Prix

But if they are good enough to win, or other riders blow it on the night, why should'nt they have a shot at the world title. -
England V Australia Under 23 Test Matches
suzuki star 882 replied to oldtimer's topic in International World of Speedway
Surely the whole point of a test match is to use each country's best riders. They must be able to arrange it when it does'nt affect club meetings. It's pointless if you don't use your best riders. -
Grand Prix
suzuki star 882 replied to spin king's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Why not have the world championship contested by each national champion, with maybe the world under 21 champion also included ? This way the best rider from each country, each year, gets the opportunity to be world champion. The only seeded rider if you want one would be the previous years world champion. I know people will say that the likes of the Finland or Italian champions would have no chance, but the only way these countries will progress is if they have something to aim for and the opportunity to ride at the highest level. -
Swc Tapes Rules
suzuki star 882 replied to suzuki star 882's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Thanks for that. It would have helped if the commentary team had explained that. -
Surprised no one else has asked this. How come two riders were allowed back in reruns after touching the tapes ? In league racing if any part of bike or rider touches the tapes you are out, and I thought those were the rules in the SWC (like they are in the SGP).

Speedway Gp Engine Checks
suzuki star 882 replied to speedy den boy's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I am not convinced that cutouts make any real difference. On numerous occasions I have seen cutouts trip the switch on the handle bar when riders have fallen but the engine has kept running. Are these new "positive" type cutouts designed to combat this, and are they any better than the old type ? -

Bye Bye Ole

Much more of Ole's tempory track work and we wont need stadiums, just race round the local ring road. It will probably be safer ! -
Super Prix
suzuki star 882 replied to cometsfan2k4's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Holly, whoever wins each individual GP is the winner of that GP, end of story. There are four GP rounds that have been designated as Superprix's. The four riders who win these rounds will contest a race at the last GP of the season for a $200,000 prize, something completely separate from the World Championship. Sweden was the first Superprix, and as the winner Rune Holta automatically gets red gate for the prize money race. The next Superprix winner will get blue gate and so on. They have not announced what will happen if one rider wins more than one Superprix. -

Probably the only chance of a British win is if Nicki and Hans do ride bicycles -
With respect to anyone else's views, all the tactical rules do is offer the opportunity to reward a team that is performing badly. It only cures the sympton, not the illness. The BSPA need to address the issue of unequal team strengths and track fairness, then the rule would not be necessary. What Sky may or may not want should be irrelevant.
-
Yes I was there and I do think that that result was a once in a blue moon result, or 40 odd years in Kings Lynn's case. I am all for trying to acheive good close racing and results, but I believe the answer is more equal teams rather than messing with the meeting rules.
-
Why should then winning team be penalised (as they were with the tactical ride rules) for being good enough to lead by several points?

Hope both injured riders are ok, they were nasty looking tumbles. Anyone know why the last heat was not raced ? -
Helmet Colours
suzuki star 882 replied to morganbike's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
Well said sCATygirl. The speedway authorities need to stick to one set of rules, make sure everyone is aware of them, and stop costing riders money ( especially youngsters who cant afford it ). Why cant someone like Peter Oakes, who is supposed to be in charge of young riders advise these youngsters. And although second halfs are competitive they are not official competitions so some leeway has to be acceptable. It also highlights the worrying variation in the standard of refereeing as I dont think this happens at other tracks. -

Whilst the two under 15 races were rather processional, I definately think it is a good idea to introduce these youngsters into such an event. Hopefully there will more junior races next year and less bland musical entertainment.
