  1. I think you can guarantee there's not a single Speedway club out there which would be paying a 'website man' a salary of over £15k a year!!!
  2. News this week of another death in Water Ski-ing, sixth in competition in Australia in last few years... Oh goodness, when are people going to get this fixation with the term 'Personality' out of their head. 'Personality' just means a person in Sport and NOT anything to do with what their 'personality' is like!!!
  3. Is that right? I would've thought that the position of Track Photographer would bring with it the requirement to supply photos to the club which the Club would then have some rights over..? How does this work across the country with other clubs do people know?
  4. They are massively incomplete - as Bryon has one of the longest and team-wise, most successful careers in the history of the CL/NL. Why anyone would want deliberately to tamper with riders' career records like they do on that website is utterly beyond me...
  5. Hmm, you seriously think that's an 'offer'..?! The clue is in the words "I have no interest [in the NL]" - a sentiment expressed time & time again by those running this supposed database of riders' records.
  6. Whoa there! What's with this double mention here of the dreaded 'D' word, 'Development'..?! For gawd's sake let's not start with this nonsense again! The working title of this division, used on ALL fixtures, League Tables, all marketing of the division by clubs is the National League - not the bleedin' NDL...!!!
  7. I have to say though that I do not think it is accurate to say that our crowds reduced all year. There were very healthy sized crowds right up to the end of the campaign - the crowd at the closing meeting was very good despite the weather affecting things by then and despite it being an 'individual' which are often turn-offs at many other tracks.
  8. I do have to say Smart's name was the one which leapt off the page when I read the list too - as a nailed-on 'last pick'... Would that make him Brummie bound..?!
  9. Er, yes - but how is that profile going to be raised without some mainstream exposure? And this year Tai as World Champ and with the 'back story' could've been be in there...
  10. Er, there HAVE been very clear statements on here several times by those who put together this website, that they have no interest in including third tier (CL/NL) records; and let's be honest. the proof of the pudding is, in any case, for those to see. Deliberately leaving out (in some cases) several years of riders' league racing career is tampering with such records in my book - what would you call it..? Being selective, I suppose! You seem to take exception to the word 'deliberately'... But you've hardly left out Tai Woffinden's CL career record by accident have you... If it wasn't 'deliberate' to miss that out, what would you call it?
  11. Now THAT is a great idea!! All in all fantastic news - Plymouth is one of my absolute favourite places to watch Speedway!
  12. And it's not helping the NL clubs a whole lot either! Am sure there used to be a rule that under 23s weren't bound by this rule though...
  13. Well we all now know that a database which is meant to be of riders' racing records is completely flawed, as it misses out significant sections of their league racing careers. If that's exposure you like, then you sure got it!!
  14. To clarify the riders CAN do NL but can't double down from the PL
  15. Speedway opened in May of this year at a brand-new venue: Central Park in Kent. We have attracted a large number of people new to the sport and these new fans have loved it and kept coming. I can tell you how we knew they were new to the sport.. The audible gasps when an exciting pass and yes, a fall happened out there on track. Working as I do in the 'box', several of the Refs commented that this was the first time they'd heard a crowd reaction like that to incidents for many a long year! So the product (and yes, this was NL racing..) can still excite and enthuse and get the public paying to come through the gates for more..
  16. Fair point about Phil Taylor.. Ronnie O'Sullivan's achievement in coming back to win the World Title again too... Both ahead of Ainslie, Cockcroft, Bell & Halfpenny for me too.
  17. Well according to Jon (Adam's Dad) Adam is apparently NOT allowed to ride NL next year. I guess because his PL average is too high to 'double down' - though I though under a certain age (which Ellis is...) you could still..? But who knows with the rules..
  18. Well hopefully not 'Leicester' anything as I prefer 'stand-alone' club names. For example: Norfolk Knights (KL) Beaumont Braves (Leicester) South-west Stars (combined Somerset/Plymouth side) Bournemouth Buccaneers (which did happen of course and is the 'model' to follow) (Poole) Byker Racers (Newcastle) etc.
  19. Well let's look at the ten... Murray - won Wimbledon. Certain winner of SPOTY '14 Farah: double world championship - for a second year running gonna be the best contender NOT to win SPOTY Froome: a magnificent achievement to win the Tour De France, especially as in truth he would have won the year before and entered immortality other than for 'team orders' that said Wiggins had to win. I'd expect the top 3 to be Murray, Mo & Froome. McCoy: BBC love a jockey - in truth it's his whole career being recognised not a single year but still fair enough. Ohuruogu - magnificent in winning a world title again; puts her alongside Ennis, Lewis & Holmes as one of the greatest British female Athletes in history - sadly hasn't a prayer in the voting though.. Rose - first GB winner of US Open for 43 years - some achievement (though Rose,, rather like Briggo back in day (!), isn't actually British of course!!) But IMHO only those six (and McCoy debatable at that...) deserve a place ahead of Tai. Cockcroft - in there only to keep the female ratio just about respectable and so that the BBC isn't accused of abandoning disabled sport after 2012. Ainslie: crazy selection - in there coz he's retired from his solo competition and we've all heard of him! His role at the Americas Cup nowt to do with British sport and more technical than sporting. Bell & Halfpenny: good competitors in their international sides but not enough to warrant selection ahead of an actual World Champion.
  20. Leicester entering a side in the NL would be bloody FANTASTIC! I really hope it will happen.
  21. I think you should give up on this line iris because it's pretty feeble!! We are talking about LEAGUE appearances. The Third & Fourth Divisions (now called League One & League Two) are recognised as part of the Football League and appearances of players in them are always counted in a professional's playing record. Games on Kirkby Rec are not! Which was your 'point'.. But we're not talking about junior or amateur performances are we; we're talking about Speedway's Third Division: the National/Conference League. Recognised since its inception 20 years ago as one of the three official 'British Leagues'. If people had some kind of an argument why to leave the stats out then it might be nice to hear. Making utterly spurious comments like you're doing..? Well, as I say, it is all rather feeble don't you think..!
  22. Er, yes. He played in the bottom two divisions for Blackpool, Macclesfield Town, Stockport County, Rochdale, Bristol Rovers and indeed his current club before moving up to the top division and his country. Well over 250 appearances in leagues outside the top two divisions...
