  1. Wolves made light work of Lakeside at Monmore Green despite a slow start and the Hammers could only get one heat winner after the first two heats and this could be a complete swing around here. Lakeside have a team that is built to win at home and there are questions to be answered by Wolves about the scoring of certain riders away from WV2 Like to see Wolves push them all the way and at least get a point ....... but it may need a TR at one point 51-42 my guess
  2. Injuries are part and parcel of this sport and where appropriate a guest should be allocated to any team to replace a rider, especially a number one rider as neither team should suffer and I actually like to watch Jason Doyle at Monmore Green so welcome the fact they will have seven against seven. The only issue really is that it should have been announced that Jason Doyle is on standby for Monday night as AJ is struggling with an injury and is going to see how he feels after Saturdays GP which is an individual event and missing that meeting only costs him and not a team. That way we could have woken up on the Monday morning to hear that JD will be riding. Maybe one rule could be implemented across the main nations of Sweden, Poland and Britain to say if a rider misses a team event, he is automatically ruled out of any team event for seven full days, meaning if he misses Monday then the next team meeting he can ride in would be from 7.30pm April 27th onwards.
  3. Hancock 11 - 13 Woffinden 11 - 13 Kasprzak 11 - 13 Pedersen 10 - 12 Hampel 10 - 12 .............. £20 more NKI 10 - 12 ................... £40 more Holder 10 - 12 ................ £50 less Zagar 7 - 9 Doyle 6 - 8 Jonsson 6 - 8 MJJ 6 - 8 Janowski 6 - 8 Gollob 5 - 7 .................. £20 more THJ 5 - 7 Batchelor 5 - 7 Harris 3 - 5
  4. Harry Kane is a 21 year old who has done well at various venues while Richard Lawson is 29 and done well mainly at home meetings and last season was a second string most of the time. Don't get me wrong, he has done a great job for Lakeside in the last two seasons but under a format that helps second strings it does suggest he scored what is expected Think Mr Kane earns a bit more than Mr Lawson also
  5. He is not returning though like AJ was after a long time away. Seems a bit strange that AJ and Doyle will ride in the same GP on Saturday and both will possibly ride on Sunday in Poland on the Sunday but only one will be fit to ride on the Monday in Britain ? Lawson and Bech have never really done too much at Monmore Green with Lawson 7+1 twice as a second string last season and Bech 7+1 and 5 with his best score as a heat leader but from five rides.and both rode in the meeting when Bomber guested for Tai and only scored 2 points. Last season Lakeside lost 48-42 at Monmore in the first meeting with PK, Davey Watt and Steve Worrall as their top three scorers while in the second meeting when Harris guested they won 46-44 with Davey Watt top scoring and Adam Ellis getting 9 at reserve against Jacobs and Perry but with Lewis Blackbird and Josh Bates it wont be as easy this time. Wolves to be comfortable winners here I think and a 54-39 scoreline with Doyle top scorer for Hammers and a solid showing from all the Wolves team with Wells and Thorssell again doing well at WV2
  6. It's just tradition isn't it but maybe with so much PC about now it may well change in the near future. You will notice that Tai Woffinden never actually drinks the stuff and anything he does put in his mouth he usually spits straight back out or sprays in the air.
  7. I watch most sports on TV when they are on especially Boxing and Football, but other sports like Golf, Tennis and Rugby I only usually watch the big events or matches. Last week I took my two youngest kids (12 and 5) to Hednesford Raceway to watch Stocks and Bangers which they loved, especially the bangers when they crashed ....... although we dont want to see riders crash, it does make you think there could be some sort of exhibition speedway heats put on at meetings be it young riders or ex riders. Pool is the only sport I really do these days and run a local successful league and in the past have played to a high standard and played World and European Champions and been a part of the team that were National Champions many years ago. I was a keen footballer until ankle injuries stopped me at an early age and now help my 14 year old son in his love of the sport playing in local leagues.
  8. Thought Belle Vue would take at least a point from this one but their early dominance at the gate was equalled and then bettered by Wolves who took control with two consecutive 5-1's in heats 9 and 10. Zagar and Fricke took the lead in heat one but again Ricky Wells looked up for the challenge and passed Fricke while in heat two, Nielsen and Worrall both gated way ahead of the Wolves pair but Nielsen almost took out the fence on turn four as he battled to stay in control of his bike and a possible 2-10 scoreline was actually 5-7. A great win by Jacob Thorssell in heat three over Nicholls while Musielak failed to complete a lap was followed by the muck up in heat 4 with both PK and Bates coming out in blue helmet colours. By the time the red helmet colour was ran onto the track, the 2 minutes were up and the Wolves legend had to start 15 meters back. Catching Nielsen was not a problem but Cook was on the pace challenging Bates who was riding well and held on in a tight finish to the line to level it at 12-12. Wolves hit the lead with a great ride again from Wells as Blackbird passed Worrall who made a mistake to make it 16-14 but the scores were again levelled in heat six when Zagar and Stead were split by PK and Musielak was shoved to the back on turn one by Zagar. Interesting point in heat five was Blackbird being taken out on the first bend and Worrall laying his bike down. All four was the correct ruling as it was clearly first bend bunching but while Ricky Wells waited by the track gate, Fricke, Blackbird and Worrall all returned to the pit lane ........ and all reappeared for the re-run without punishment. Heat seven looked like we had the real Freddie turn up as he hie the front but he drifted wide on turns one and two and as he entered turn three he slowed up and was out of the race going from first to last in the space of a straight. With Jacob also battled out on turn one, Aces hit a 5-1 to go four up. A shared heat 8 with Bates correctly kept in but finishing last led to heat nine. The two maximums by Wolves with Musielak looking very quick after no bumps on turn one for a change to win heat ten showed a glimpse of what he can do. Freddie back on song in heat 11 with Ricky stuck at the back trying to pass Stead was followed by a 4-2 in the reserves with Blackbird having sorted out his bike issues. Two more shared heats led to the final heat and Aces needing a 3-3 to gain a point but PK split them well and Freddie raced clear leaving Belle Vue empty handed after a decent match that bodes well for Wolves in future home matches and sends an alarm to Aces on away performances. WOLVES; Benefitting from PK as a second string and also Ricky but even if they eventually move up, Jacob and Tobiasz will do likewise as second strings so nothing much will change and in Lewis and Josh they have a pairing that can score points so they may suprise a few if they can do it away from WV2 ACES; When they gated they were fine but an good start is nothing if they can't maintain it and Stefan Nielsen looks a concern away from home having now seen him here and at Coventry and a 5+1 at Kings Lynn was mainly scored beating Ashley Morris while Stead as a heat leader is inconsistant. Wolves = 49 1. Freddie Lindgren ............0, 0, 3, 3, 3 = 9 2. Ricky Wells ............2, 3, 2', 0 = 7+1 3. Tobiasz Musielak ............R, 0, 3, 0 = 3 4. Peter Karlsson ............1, 2, 3, 3, 1 = 10 5. Jacob Thorssell ............3, 1, 2', 0 = 6+1 6. Lewis Blackbird ............1', 1, 3, 3 = 8+1 7. Josh Bates ............ 2, 3, 0, 1 = 6 Belle Vue = 41 1. Matej Zagar ............3, 3, 1, 2, 0 = 9 2. Max Fricke ............1, 2, 1', 0 = 4+1 3. Scott Nicholls ............2, 3, 2, 2, 2 = 11 4. Craig Cook ............2, 2', R, 1' = 5+2 5. Simon Stead ............1', 1, 1', 1' = 4+3 6. Steve Worrall ............3, 0, 2, 1, 2 = 8 7. 9. Good to see the stadium filling up more than the Speedway, but doesn't Mr Sandhu only get Stadium rent money for these events anyway so if there was 100 or 3,000 there, he still gets the same money ? I am going to Hednesford Raceway today as the Speedway has been put back til Tuesday night and I will be taking my 12 year old daughter and 5 year old son, just as I did at Brandon when Wolves visited the other week. Let's see which they enjoy more and what is there for them to see apart from the racing. When we were at the speedway, my 5 year old had more fun running up and down the grass bank on turn two than watching the racing and my daughter was 50/50 racing and being with my son. There was nothing there to attract young kids to be entertained apart from fifteen 60 second races ...... 15 minutes in two hours !! Today at Hednesford there are 12 races with four different events having two qualifying heats and a final. This not only adds variety but also there are 228 laps in thos 12 races which in speedway terms would be 57 races. Apart from the racing or crashing (something kids like), I will be interested to see what else is there for kids apart from the Burger bars and Ice Cream vans
  10. Just looked through the last scores the Belle Vue riders scored when they were last at Monmore Green in Elite League action Matej Zagar 3 6 2 3 3 = 17 Scott Nicholls 1 2 3 3 1 = 10 Simon Stead 2 1*4 3 3 3 = 16+1 Craig Cook 0 0 2 1* = 3+1 Max Fricke 1 1 1*2 = 5+1 Steve Worrall 3 2 3 1*2* = 11+2 Stefan Nielsen 2 0 1 1 2 = 6 Not really a weak link as Cook has done much better than that before.
  11. There are no fixture clashes and Josh Bates is the only injury worry but he seems to be very keen to ride so it looks like full strength. Fredrik Lindgren, Ricky Wells, Tobiasz Musielak, Peter Karlsson, Jacob Thorssell, Lewis Blackbird, Josh Bates. Matej Zagar, Max Fricke, Simon Stead, Craig Cook, Scott Nicholls, Steve Worrall, Stefan Nielsen.
  12. Belle Vue have built a great team this season. Zagar and Nicholls can hold their own in the big heats while Cook and Fricke are two of the strongest second strings in the league and even if Stead drops down, he makes them stronger. Steve Worrall can score well at reserve, not that convinced over Nielsen but all together they look solid and Wolves will need all seven to get in the points here to stop the Aces getting anything. Wolves 47 Aces 43
  13. Not going through all the previous posts, I watched this meeting on the big screen and nothing much suprised me in the meeting at all apart from Ashley Morris doing so well. There was a few falls and the track didn't seem as good as usual but it didn't look too bad and the lack of racing was possibly more down to the strength of the two teams as Kings Lynn look like being one of the front runners this year again while Lakeside are poor away and this showed up with just two heat winners all night and one of those was possibly because of the injury to Kerr. Robert Lambert impressed me last season at Monmore Green and against little opposition he went through the card and it possibly isn't going to be the last time we see this in 2015. With Iversen and Schlein on top form, it was a bit one sided and even with the injuries and low score by Bjerre, Kings Lynn were far too strong. Lakeside just don't travel and while I used to be an admirer of AJ, he isn't the rider he was or can be in the GP's and he will find this season hard under this format while Bech, Lawson and Nilsson will do well at home but away is another matter. As for Edward Kennett, well he is now a PL owned rider and we seem to have seen the best of him at the age of just 29. Overall this meeting wasn't exciting, no shock results and apart from watching Lambert get a paid maximum at the age of 16, it just goes to question who plans which meetings are best to be shown live ? ..... Poole, Belle Vue and Kings Lynn should only really be seen at home against each other and possibly add Coventry to that list. The other four should mainly be shown at home against anyone and only away against each other as Lakeside v Kings Lynn could have been a close meeting as could Kings Lynn v Poole or Wolves v Swindon etc
  14. Regardless of any weather reports, I used to like coming up to Belle Vue on a Good Friday as it was usually followed by another meeting in the evening elsewhere. However the track at Kirky Lane has not been good for a number of years and the racing has been so little it is possibly an offence to call it Entertainment and the viewing aspect has made me miss it last season and along with it being my son's birthday, I will be missing this year too. Hopefully Belle Vue will be in the new stadium next season with a decent track and I will give it another go then, maybe next year we may get a result but this season Aces have built a very good team and having second strings like Cook and Fricke should make Belle Vue title contenders. The problem with this years teams is Wolves don't look to have heat winners and apart from an amazing display by PK at Coventry with 5 wins from 6 races, Wolves through Fredrik Lindgren only had two more heat winners. Ricky Wells usually goes well here and was certainly on the pace at Brandon but without Blackbird and another dynamic display from PK, I can't see Wolves getting as close in this one. Aces 55 Wolves 37 Weather permitting
  15. Tier 1 was ranked by Premier League averages Tier 2 they were ranked in no specific order and are all ranked the same,so Ashley Morris for example could be out injured and Kings Lynn would be allowed to use James Sarjeant or Paul Starke as a guest. However it looks like they have now ranked them and this may be by NL/PL averages ...... Sarjeant at #11 is because he hadn't ridden in the PL so a new 3.00 rider. Think he will be a 6+ rider if his EL form carries on from last season
  16. Sticking with my original post but not too sure about Wooden Spoons as I am sure there will POSSIBLY be changes during the season with possibly Kildemand and Woffinden returning to their parent tracks and with the number of fixture clashes, Lakeside could be in trouble if they dont win all their home matches.
  17. Not too sure about that bit, sounded a bit cringe worthy I thought and a bit Tony Blackburn old cheese style. Prefer the old presentation style with Chris Simpson Not too sure but if he is missing they have a guest on standby ...... hopefully Rory Schlein or Ben Barker Stuart Robson a doubt for Monday and they are looking at a possible guest ....... Ludvig Lindgren maybe ? Well seeing the 3 and 2* was from the reserves race and the 1 was beating Stefan Nielsen for a third time, it wasn't a great night for him was it.
  18. When you see riders in their practice sessions it is clear that the black legs has been removed from the regulations and it looks better. You wouldn't expect all Premier League football teams to wear the same colour shorts and socks. Having said that I really like the Wolves suit that is virtually all black,
  19. Any rider currently with an average over seven points a meeting CANT sign for Poole unless it;s in place of Holder or Janowski. The TWO 7+ riders will be in place all season with those figures at present. So if Dakota North is averaging 7.67 they cant sign Kildemand or Woffinden etc
  20. You have misunderstood what I posted. Should Chris Holder be injured then Poole can sign whoever they want upto his average (or the 34 limit) and that is fine. However if North or Watt move their averages to say 7.67, they can not be replaced by a rider that has a 7+ average now like Tai Woffinden, Piotr Pawlicki or Peter Kildemand as their 1-7 will contain THREE riders that started the season on 7+ averages. If Poole or any other club wanted to sign Woffinden or Kildemand or Kasprzak for example it would have to be at the expense of a rider that started on a 7+ average UNLESS that team never started the season with two such riders like Wolves and Lakeside EDIT; I could just imagine if this was allowed, Poole releasing North 7.67 and Gomolski 7.05 mid season and bringing in Kildemand and Woffinden to give them a top five of Holder, Janowski, Kildemand, Woffinden and Watt
  21. You HOPE they will ....... Don't under estimate Wolves as they will have their days when they give a spanking and you could be suprised on how good Museliak is It is going to be hard to replace Dakota North or Davey Watt really as you can only have TWO 7+ riders in your team using the starting averages. So even if Dakota North averages 8.08 early on, he can only be replaced with a rider that started the season on an average under seven unless they release Magic or Holder too
  22. Riders DON'T dig ruts at the start, they are simply looking for the best bit of track to get the grip and if anything they fill in the ruts and stamp down the lose dirt to try and get the best grip when starting. If you ever get to see the track close up during or after a meeting you will see that gate four gets really rutted during the meeting and creates bumps as they go back around each time. This isn't really needed as the ruts can be filled in more often ...... the one problem gate four can often have though is the lack of dirt once they are out of the gate due to the racing line being slick as the meeting goes on. Grading the start line more often in my opinion would be a benefit to everyone and make the gates more equal during the meeting.
  23. The race surface can change from night to night and with most tracks now the surface is on concrete and hard pressed material. I will say though that I feel more worked could easily be done on the starting gates as ruts can make it hard in later heats to get a decent position. Along the kickboards, especially entering the bend there is always loads of lose dirt there and by constantly refilling these ruts and pressed down every four heats by the tractor or every heat with a waker plate the starting area could be a much more level playing field instead of a plughed field.
  24. WORLD CHAMPION = TAI WOFFINDEN Tai took on too much last season, on and off the track and at times never had the right set ups, but this season he has Pete Adams by his side, Craig Cummins overseeing things in the pits and Jacko and Damian doing the bikes and this will be a great team to give Tai the form of 2013. Hopefully he will stay injury free and if he does he could be a run away winner. ==== Contenders ======= Greg Hancock Neils K Iversen Krzysztof Kasprzak Nicki Pedersen Chris Holder Jarek Hampel ==== Chasing the Top 8 === Jason Doyle Matej Zagar Maciej Janowski Andreas Jonsson Michael Jepsen Jensen ==== Not in the running === Thomas H Jonasson Troy Batchelor Chris Harris
  25. Looking at the heat format now, the teams that should be suited best are the teams with two good top men followed by two very good back up riders to form a formidable top four. A few years ago the #5 rider was often the top man as they had to partner reserves but now the #5 only appears alongside the #1 or #3 so this should be the weakest of the three, Poole with Davey Watt look the best equipped here as Davey Watt has been a consistant scorer acan't see them missing out.s a heat leader in the last few seasons and with Holder and possibly Janowski, you could easily see him scoring 5+4. This may mean he would slip to a second string but Dakota North can move up and then Davey will excel in the second string role. Belle Vue with Stead and Cook should do well while King and ? (Pawlicki/JK ?) are strong at Coventry. I originally went for these three teams to be in the play offs and I still can't see them missing out. But who will be the last team to reach the play offs ? ...... I went with Kings Lynn but think they could struggle more than some think as they no longer have the "bargain" second strings like last season. Lakeside having doubling up riders in Lawson and Kennett and don't have priority while Birks at reserve also doesn't have priority and looks like missing quite a few and missing these riders in key meetings could cost them in the end. Leicester could be the suprise packet but there are some good second strings now and Wozniak is going to find it tough He averaged 7.54 in the Polish Division One but the opposition here is going to test him. That leaves Swindon who I tipped as wooden spoon contenders but I can't see Meidzinski doing that well in this format and Morris and Zengota will have to be up for a battle. Wolves however have too much pressure on Freddie and like Meidzinski I think he will struggle to even average eight points a match. Museliak is a great signing but can the other three step up ? So I stick with my original post but if one of the bottom four shocks anyone then it could be Wolves .... but think there will be changes mid season
