  1. I think Go-Speed Limited went into liquidation on 7 June 2010 but Go Speed International Limited is still trading. The accounts of Go-Speed Limited at the time of liquidation make interesting reading.
  2. Hopefully, someone (Philip?) can provide us with definitive facts. It's just that I feel that it's the norm for people serving on committees to work on behalf of the committee and not for the benefit of themselves, or companies that they are directors of. No doubt something was agreed to, otherwise you would have heard something from the promoters. I don't have a problem with Go Speed earning commissions from the deal, it's just the morality of the situation that I'm questioning.
  3. If this is the case, one would expect that somewhere within the minutes of meetings held by the BSPA there will be a specific annotation appointing Go Speed with the responsibilty of selling the TV rights to speedway in return for a finders fee. What I find difficult to comprehend is that if Terry was a member of the BSPA, why would he not do the work on behalf of the organisation, as opposed to on behalf of a company of which he was a director? You mention that several people had tried and failed to sell the rights - care to put some names to the people? I do share your opinion that his fellow promoters haven't capitalised on the opportunity, but there are other threads that go into this. One thing is for sure is that diluting the product whilst increasing prices is a certain recipie for failure, especially when money is tight. 4. So Terry had an official role within the BSPA at the time, did he? If so, he surely should have been working on behalf of the BSPA during the negotiations and not on behalf of his company. The phrase "conflict of interests" springs to mind.
  5. There's quite a few of us on here who like the odd bet on the EL. I don't know what the cumulative take is by the bookies from the live meetings in isolation, but perhaps an approach to the likes of Bet 365 or Bet Victor might be in order. If betting on live meetings is profitable, they might wish to protect that revenue stream? Skybet must have been one of the only bookmaking sponsors not to offer day to day odds on the league they were sponsoring and if Sky doesn't renew does the Skybet "sponsorship" disappear too? If you could get the likes of Bet 365 to sponsor the broadcasts, maybe BT or even Eurosport would be interested in showing it?
  6. Too true - one thing travels faster than good news and that's bad news
  7. Thanks for the heads up on that. It will be interesting to see what Sky comes up with to compete against the World Cup. Clutching at straws somewhat, but speedway might be a good option for sky as the fanbase is pretty loyal. Would be interesting to learn what the viewing figures were for yesterday evening, going head to head with the England match.
  8. But there will be a lot of football in June/July next year, with the World Cup in Brasil. Don't know what, if any, packages sky have the rights to broadcast, but there will certainly be no void, well not one of 2.5 hours on a Monday evening, to concern them as a result of there being no speedway contract. As a speedway fan, I will always go to Belle Vue and watch Sky meetings later anyway, but will miss coverage when there are no clashes. I do hope that the sport can be sold to BT, as the cupboard is pretty bare IMHO as regards their sports offerings. I only watch the odd football game and as I believe that rugby should be played with 13 men on the field, am not interested in their flagship rugby offering.
  9. Dancing sure is toning Susanna's legs - now who that guy with the bike?
  10. And if you find it, I think we'd all be interested to find out where it's been hiding for the past decade!!
  11. Tai came over well. I was pleasantly surprised by how long the interview went on for. Will it add more to the terraces - I doubt it, but our well oiled publicity and promotion machine should be using today as a platform to build on. Problem is, I can't see that happening either.
  12. Don't listen to Talk sh*te, but from what you're saying it's living up to the name us Chelsea fans have given it.
  13. Q & A feature with Tai in the Daily Telegraph Sport Monthly. Hopefully all the press will report we have a British World Champion tomorrow.
  14. Nearly choked on my porridge when I heard it. Wonder if some of the great work the likes of BBC Cambridgeshire & West Midlands do with their local teams is filtering through? I doubt it personally, but you never know.
  15. Nice odds from BWin yesterday - 3/5 on a KL win against B'Ham. Others were around 1/3
  16. Saw Per break the Reading track record (against Coventry if memory serves me well) and it was an absolutely faultless, wheel perfect four laps. Truly great ride, shame about how it all ended for him
  17. I called Sportingbet and they will not be offering odds on Elite League or eliteserien matches for the foreseeable future - might be somthing to do with the takeover. Bet Victor most certainly had odds on Tuesday as I backed Vetlanda +10 and Piraterna +4. As for Wednesday, well I had bets with Coral on both the Brum and KL meetings and used Ladbrokes for in-play betting on the Brum meeting
  18. So, in a nutshell, the sooner the new stadium at Belle Vue comes to fruition, the better. This is going to be styled on the old Hyde Road / Polish tracks and will give us a facility where we can develop British talent. Getting a maximum around Lakeside/Wolves/Belle Vue has no relevance at all when looking at the continental tracks. We've seen a World U-21 champion recently look like a novice at Wolverhampton and then perform really well in the SWC for Poland. PC and Michael Lee were both world champions and used to ride on big British tracks, which set them up well for what they found on the continent. Hopefully, our time will come again
  19. No it wouldn't. The strong would remain at a level and the weak, as you put it, get the opportunity to build up the the level of the strongest from the previous year. Economics will kick in and teams will find their levels. The original question was about continuity and continuously having to break up teams for the sake of maintaining an artificially low average and I believe my suggestion would solve the perennial problem.
  20. Nothing half-baked, as you put, it at all. Instead of employing 2nd rate foreign riders because of the average restrictions, they would be able to go out and obtain better options. These do exist, or don't you look at the strength of teams in Poland and Sweden. The idea is to maintain continuity, so what's half-baked about that, oh wise one?
  21. Only one team can be Champions, so why not allow them to keep the same team if they wish, with their cumulative average being the figure that all teams can build to for the following season? We've gone down the path of diluting the product and the result of this can be seen at the turnstiles.
  22. Within an e-mail I received from BWin, is their rules governing Friday's meeting: The relevant excerpt in regards to the evaluation of the above bets can be found on our websie or at the following link provided for your convenience: https://help.bwin.com/general-information/legal-matters/general-terms-and-conditions/sports-betting-special-rules/speedway "1.) All meeting bets apply to a specific number of heats, generally 15. If a meeting is abandoned and 12 or more heats have been completed at the time of abandonment then all bets will be settled on the official result. If less than 12 heats have been completed at the time of abandonment then all bets will be void. This also applies to Handicap bets." So, it looks like a genuine error in settling and if you haven't been paid out on Cov +5.5, contact BWin and I'm sure they'll amend accordingly.
  23. I know - in reality seven heat leaders in today's terms. What we've arrived at today has been caused by lowering the points limit over the years, resulting in a vastly diluted product at a premium price. And they wonder why they don't get the crowds.
  24. According to a poster on Twitter, they were going Eastie -7
