  1. I remember Stu flying over the Brough 4th bend fence a few years ago. A horror story crash but he survived and still has a blast on occasions around the outside on that bend, such is his confidence in himself. 2014 and he is riding well. Certainly one of the best ever Newcastle riders like Tom and Joe Owen before him. I hope Robbo continues for a while yet before hanging up his kevlars and I don't care if he is a mackem
  2. Side issue. Glasgow have taken Christian Henry back as a replacement for Lemo.. All Newcastle fans will wish Christian well. He did nothing wrong I am sure leading up to Newcastle dropping him and Anton to bring Danny in. Yes a guest for Danny, will it be my favourite PL rider the cookie monster? Cook is the leagues best rider fingers crossed he will be the guest.
  3. Starting this thread with little information re the Diamonds team, hopefully Lewis Rose will be back after injury. Not so sure about Schrammbo? Though it will be interesting to see how our two Chris's go in our reserve berths. They are both so experienced and hopefully they can do the "beeswax" in heat two. So we need the line ups for both teams. Berwick are going well at the moment so we can expect another close match, looking forward to it
  4. Newsflash! Diamonds sign Craig Cook so he will line up against the Monarchs! Nah well I can dream eh! Newcastle's wheelings and dealings trying to bring in Robert Lambert and Danny "The King Of Diamonds" King was scuppered by the BSPA we cannot bring in Robert Lambert and have only brought in Danny King and a 3 pointer Dan Greenwood so we now have a weak bottom end. Unless our promoters can change some riders we will get trounced by well balanced and strong teams like Edinburgh. My forecast Newcastle scrape 30 points together by their decent top four riders
  5. After Newcastle v Workington where the Diamonds under achieved and were beaten. We went to Ipswich and got a draw. So what can we expect on Sunday when Peterborough are in Toon? Dunno whether Anton Rosen and Chris Schramm will be fit. If Chris isn't can we blow in Steve Worrals ear!!!! Every one else is using the "Nice" twin, who is now showing what we knew he was capable of so I hope we can use Steve as a guest too
  6. Concrete Steps I believe the steps have still not been done and are unlikely to be back in use by the time we all flood into the stadium. The stadium landlords are millionaires or maybe billionaires shame on them for failing their tenants Newcastle Speedway we should picket the place on dog nights
  7. Thanks Dave, You get used to the same spot to watch from don't you? If my first choice viewing position at the 4th bend is no longer attractive I will come along and stand it front of you at the 1st bend and block your view Ludvig stands out as capable of blasting around the 4th but new guy Anton also did it once last season, hopefully with an air fence more riders will be happy to give it some wellie around the outside. About the track length I thought bringing in the inside line would shorten the track length a little.
  8. Unfortunately I am unable to help with the physical stuff Tsunami. I am a little bit younger than you are but have too many ailments to offer help, mores the pity. I think you should get a medal for what you do and a few other of our guys too. My view is that coming out of bends 2 and 4 we should have inside lines and outside lines too. The spectators cannot get around to the second bend to watch, so bend 4 is the only exit bend we can get anywhere near to, to watch fairly close up. Please let bend 4 have a recognised outside line otherwise the spectacle of the sport may suffer and more importantly, I may have to move along the terracing if bend 4 becomes a boring place to watch from!!! If the track undergoes major work will we be looking for a new track record? Please let me say that any criticism in this page was made constructively. I only want the best for the track and the supporters
  9. Hi Tsunami (much easier to spell than Dave!!!) I am amazed that the track has been dropped by 12 inches! I hope lowering the racing surface will not increase the chance of flooding. The fence side would need major work and the inside line/centre green too would need lots of gardening! For years now the centre green at the starting area has been too high with riders on two minutes cutting around the inside of the starting area finding the grassed area too high for their bikes to get back on the track. So this will be improved? I usually stand at the forth bend and enjoy outside overtakes. Looks now that the forth bend will only have inside lines? Have we seen the last of outside blasts around 4th bend? I hope not, I would hate to watch speedway on the white line with anyone with the bottle to full throttle around the outside coming no where. With all these alterations we will no doubt enjoy watching the first few meetings just getting used to the "New Track". I will reserve judgment until I see some passing. Again I say thank you to Dave er Tsunami and the others who are doing their best to bring us great racing.
  10. Happy New Year to everyone on the forum. Still not sure our 2014 team will be good enough to win things, but I will be there week after week cheering them on. Looking forward to seeing our expensive air fence. A big thank you to the supporters club and to all the contributors who have made it possible. My few quid will have helped as well. Will the fence narrow the track much on the bends?
  11. So it's goodbye to the Worrall twins. The lads were very popular at Brough Steve is now riding in all three leagues and Richie in the top two. I wish them well and hope Steve develops into a top rider. Richie I hope will get into our national side and eventually become a GP rider. Andrew Tully is leaving too after just one season with us, good luck mr Tully and I am sure when he comes back riding for his new side he will rack up a big score. So who have we got for 2014:- not in any particular order 1. Ludvig Lindgren 2. Lewis Kerr 3. Christian Henry 4. Stuart Robson 5. Anton Rosen 6. Lewis Rose 7. Chris Schram A solid side as we had in 2013. This time around Ludvig has to be more consistent. His outside overtakes are brilliant and I look forward to watching him perform this facet of his skills in 2014 but! please Lude try and make the gate more often. Lewis Kerr has been so good so far in 2013 I am loath to mention his slight weakness, which is coming from behind. Maybe with an air fence he will go out wide more? Christian Henry is probably our best gater but he has also blasted around the outside too. If he has come through his injury I think Christian will do the biz for us again Robbo? We all hope Stuart will shake off the injury and be able once again to hit double figure scores. He is someone the younger riders look up to and his presence in the pits is another of Stuarts plusses Anton Rosen I think, came in earlier than planned, due to our injuries. So if he was to have been a signing for 2014 we now have a 2014 asset who has had some experience around the UK tracks in 2013. I like what I have seen from the rocket. Anton has already "hit the ground running" in 2013 and 2014 should be easier for him. Could be our number one later in the year Lewis Rose. A big question mark ? This guy is well thought of elsewhere let us hope that this Lewis like his namesake the Kerrminator can ride Brough Park well and pick up points around the country. Chris Shcram Chris is a battler and I always watch his heats keenly as you never know what he is going to do. Good luck Schrammbo I hope you get amongst the points. Season 2014 is Newcastle Brough Parks 85 birthday. If you have time to spare have a browse through my website www.newcastlespeedwayhistory.co.uk and if you have even more time to spare check out my www.defunctspeedway.co.uk site
  12. Does anyone remember in the 1970s a bump going into the 3rd bend. It was there for ages and Robbie Blackadder hit it every time he rode but to his credit it never seemed to bother him. Now at Brough we are treated to full throttle overtakes on bend two and four, so much for Brough being hard to ride! Johnny and his trackstaff colleagues take a bow Bad riders hit problems on the outside at Brough but good riders get around it and that is entertainment 100% I am a fan of Ludvig (when he is in the mood!) he can motor around the outside as well as any other I have seen. I hope he continues to do this in 2014. Anton too showed at the end of the season that he had sussed out an outside line. Gaters and white line riders have their own talents, but a rider who misses the start and goes out wide to catch and overtake is what I pay my money to see. So my hopes go to Johnny and the trackstaff give us a good racing surface for 2014 and let the riders do the rest
  13. Re praise to Jonny Swales. Another one of our track men, Robbie Best, seems to do a helluva lot of work without much praise. Just thought I would praise him here. Rob drives one of the tractors, is involved with repairing damage to the fence after an accident and is often seen on windy nights recovering the dog track and he probably does a whole lot more. I have watched speedway at Brough for years and Rob is a familiar face/pair of legs as his screen name "Men in Shorts"!!!. I like to salute good work and agree that Johnny Swales is doing a great job but Robbie is too. I am sure other workers do a great job too and long may they continue on our track, to once and for all get us away from this "Rough" Park image. Brough has been great for a couple of years. I salute track men up and down the country, we wouldn't get our entertainment without your efforts
  14. How can anyone say this team is not a good one. We may not have what I wanted ( a 10 point heat leader) but all of them did well last year and more importantly 6 of them were happy to come back next year. I hope Robbo and C Henry get over the injuries and just do again what they were doing before their falls. Anton looks as if he will score points anywhere. He is a fraction of a second too slow from the tapes IMO and if he improves his gating just a little he will have a good chance to become our number 1. Ludvig Is great to watch but sometimes he is rubbish too. I think he and his countryman Anton the Rocket Rosen may be fighting it out for the number 1 slot Lewi Kerr is an exceptional talent. He should end up a heat leader in 2014. His average 6.09 will be improved on in 2014 but I cannot say by how much. Lewi needs to learn an outside line when he is trying to overtake, it is his only weakness imo Chris Schramm is back and I am pleased. I think he is great to watch, hopefully Scrammbo will up his game in 2014 Lewis Rose ????? It would be great if the new Lewis could hit the ground running in March next year and fill his boots with points. We need a high scoring reserve and if Schrammbo cannot do it maybe Rose will
  15. So if Steve and Richie have gone and rumour has it Lewi has too, we will just have to say goodbye and good luck to them, Maybe George and Darryl have a team that is going to be better than the 2013 side was. I will be renewing my season ticket regardless as I am hopelessly addicted to Newcastle Speedway
  16. So the other twin is going to Armadale, good luck Steve we all think you have it in you to be a great rider. Nothing yet about any riders Newcastle are bringing in. Well George we are waiting for you to build our 2014 team. Personally, I was entertained by Chris Schramm so I hope he will be included in the side. Yes I know what Schrammies short comings are but still would like to watch him in 2014. Lewi Kerr if signed should go on to occupy 1 3 or 5 positions later in the season but he still needs time to develop further into a heatleader. So are we going for a 9 point plus number 1 or will it be a strong in depth side again. My only problem with that is when heats 13 and 15 come around a top number 1 will get us at least 3 points in these difficult heats. Looking forward to some news about incoming riders not outgoing ones
  17. So Richie Worrall has signed up with Belle Vue for 2014. Is there any chance of him doubling up/down? Nah didn't think so. Looks like his ambitions have taken him away from us and I wish him well. Any talented British rider should follow their ambitions and go Elite even though the fans will testify that the PL is the most entertaining competition. I really hope that Richie has it in him to do a Tai Woffinden and get into GPs etc. So I think we need a recognised number 1 rider to lead us in 2014.. I agree that the Cookie Monster would be top of my wish list and the Monarchs have had him long enough. come on mate move south
  18. Just to deviate (yes that is what I do best) I believe the Promoters Meeting is this weekend. If anyone knows different then please say when it is. Hopefully at their meeting they will decide to do things that we will approve of But usually they announce decisions we do not like . Team Averages, TR's ~ restrictions on this and that. Maybe 2014 will be run under more sensible rules decided at this conference or maybe NOT!
  19. Can anyone tell me when the meeting/conference will be held?
  20. Newcastle must stick with Sundays our best crowds are on Sundays, not Mondays. I wish Richie well, his ambitions lie on a higher level and good luck to him. Go on kidda and do it on the biggest stage. If it doesn't work out we will be happy to have you back. I hope our promoters can attract good riders for 2014 and that they can retain the best of our 2013 team. The Kerminator has to come back next year. He is likely to surpass Richies scores in 2014
  21. A pretty good season, our lads did very well and it would be great if most of them were wanting to come back in 2014. We will have a problem as our riders Steve Worrall and Christian Henry/ Stuart Robson were replaced mid/late season. Richie Worrall Became our number 1. I think he could be encouraged to move up to the Elite League but really, good as he is he still has a few things to learn and I hope he opts for another season with us Andrew Tully A good rider but can he improve on his 7 point average, I don't think so. I would let him go Ludvig Lindgren Not the most consistent of riders but when he is in the mood he is fantastic to watch bring him back for 2014 so he can entertain me again next season. Anton Rosen He settled right in, hit the ground running. If we can fit him in for a full season the "Rocket" has to be brought back Stuart Robson Robbo if fit in 2014 should be brought back, he would benefit the team if he was riding in any position but not at number 1 or 5. Lewis Kerr The Kerminator has had an unbelievable year at number 7. If he wants to leave us so be it, but really we need to break the bank to keep him here. I want to watch him like Richie moving from reserve to our number 1 rider. All Lewis has to do is learn more overtaking skills like blasting around the outside Chris Schramm I was a bit surprised when we signed him but almost immediately I became a fan. Schrammbo is great to watch and if his average fills a gap that asset Steve Worrall cannot fill then come back Chris and do a few tricks, donuts etc. Christian Henry An excellent rider. Our Aussie never put a foot wrong prior to his injury. If he wants to continue in 2014 then our promoters have a problem if all the lads want to come back. Steve Worrall I think Steve has the potential to follow brother Richie and be an excellent rider. Maybe he can do this at Brough. But our track may not be the best home base for Steve. I hope he does well wherever he rides in 2014 Hey any chance of us prising the cookie monster away fro Edinburgh? He is the only PL rider I would like to see ride for us

  23. The away fixture goes ahead in decent October weather tonight Friday 11th. Let's hope the lads can keep it close down there and I assume a Newcastle win is out of the question! It will be great for Sunday if we have a realistic target to aim for
  24. Charles Wright is in one of Somerset's reserve berths. Does anyone know who the second reserve is? Somerset Jason Doyle Kyle Newman Nick Morris Alex Davies Josh Grajczonek Charles Wright AN Other Newcastle Richie Worrall R/R Stuart Robson Andrew Tully Ludvig Lindgren Anton Rosen Chris Schramm Lewis Kerr I am a Newcastle supporter and I am hoping for a great result. The Diamonds riders are capable of scoring plenty of points, However, This Somerset side finished top of the table which makes them "League Champions" really, but now they have to win the title all over again by coming through the play offs and winning the final just as Newcastle had to do 12 months ago. But we failed in the play offs despite topping the league. I would be happier if Stuart Robson was fit but unfortunately he is nowhere near fit for these matches. So its R/R at number 2 and due to the new green sheet averages Andrew Tully is no longer eligible to take one of the R/R rides so that weakens the Diamonds even more. Whatever happens I hope it is a cracking match with the Diamonds entertaining as much as they usually do
