On my history site we have riders in black during 1971 then when Newcastle opened again in 1975 leathers were coloured. So this narrows it down to 1973/74

Slant was one of those riders who never made much impact hence he moved from team to team. We had him in Diamonds colours (ha black and white!). There are photos of him on the 1960's part1 page of History of Newcastle Diamonds
