  1. I have to agree it wasn't the most exciting meeting Sarah, the track did look a bit slick, especially towards the end. I'm being completely honest here, but I come across far more people who enjoy it than don't: and more and more folk in my neck of the woods are coming along and trying it out. That can only be a good thing for the club. They perhaps aren't the purists, and are just there for a night out, so I understand there are different, and valid, points of view. I think today showed that we will be competitive, that's all we can ask for from a wee rural club with limited funds. The reason I am so defensive on here (going way back to Peter Waite days) is that I just cannot see how the books balance in speedway. So, that means owners putting a lot of their own money into the club. Or, the other option is having no club. People with the money to keep a speedway club afloat can easily put their cash into a different interest or venture. They have that option, however, we would be left with no speedway in Berwick and the only options to fans being Glasgow, Edinburgh or Newcastle. I think having your say that it wasn't an entertaining meeting is absolutely fair enough, so I am not really referring to you (or others) in the post. You guys know what it means to support a club through thick and thin: that is for sure. It is others who continually snipe on here, and I just wonder what they are wishing for? Do they want to see the club fail?
  2. I shall, once again, refer to the 2005 season and the crowd level versus results relation...
  3. Fabulous, we're one competitive meeting into the season and we're talking about fans voting with their feet. It's what support is really all about. Only the league winners deserve it. =D
  4. Well done Tigers, good comeback after a strong start from the Bandits. Palovaara and Berge, good prospects. For us, good to see Luke getting into the mix, a good score from Alex and Voldrih showing signs of getting a bit of speed. I think if Claus hadn't come off (don't know what happened) we would have still just sneaked it.
  5. Always great visiting support from the Tigers, looks like they will bring a decent team with them this year too. Be good to see Kozza back at Shielfield.
  6. This top notch, lads, the humour is second to none. Keep up the good work!
  7. Uncle Monty would never use industrial language like that!
  8. This is just simply splendid. We're going to get some popcorn and switch the telly off!
  9. Just had a couple of speedway-going friends round who were not even aware of this forum. My God we have had a good chuckle reading this. We were in tears at one point
  10. Such a true statement. It really does drag out the most unfortunate chaps. I found out a couple of people in the town were speedway goers yesterday, I had no idea! They absolutely love it, not a mention of track, or averages, or whatever the current moan is on here. We just had a really great blether about what we love about the sport. It truly is a case of a very few rotten apples. Time to hoy them oot!
  11. Come on Arson, you didn't need to bring them into it, did you? Good post, please keep them coming!
  12. So, Sparkafag puts up a really good post, but it is clearly above the usual suspects' level of intellect. Quite interesting stats, Sparky. Although people are saying Kus got a lot of his points from reserve, he actually regularly beat some of the top number 1 riders from the league. I was unsure of him at the start of last season, but I am of no doubt now that he is a classy rider. Looking forward to having him as guest on Saturday, and it makes complete sense to me at least... I'm not surprised Redcar put a high price on him.
  13. At last a knowledgeable post on here, rather than poorly formed opinion! Some people have the knives at the ready, hoping for a defeat on Saturday. One thing is for sure, we are certainly looking a lot stronger than the woeful Diamonds that visited us on Saturday. I'm not sure some of our closet Diamonds fans would have enjoyed that!
  14. Some dubious team management by Mr England helped us along too.
  15. I'm encouraged too by what I saw last night, Sarah. I hope Ben makes a quick recovery, it was a bad spill. He can into the 3rd bend at some speed, total commitment, even though it was a friendly meeting.
  16. You're right, and there is always the need to keep the asset base at a certain level. I liked what I saw last night.
  17. Quality post Paulco. Fantastic to see the Tigers getting excellent ownership in place. Here's hoping for a successful season.
