Long term losing Coles as an asset and gaining Baseby is a poor move. Coles has doubled his average this year and will only improve. Signing Baseby to take the heat off R/R is good though as that strategy hasn't been working.

Charlie Gjedde Comeback ?
Ben91 replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I rated him when he raced for us at Rye. If he could sustain an 8 point figure I'd take him back at some point. -
Rides for Stoke in the NL on Saturday nights.

It's the nature of the beast. Cradley have put together the best team within the rules. I personally think the points limit should be lower, it'll even teams out that have different agendas. It makes so much sense but it never even seems to be considered. It annoys me to see Cradley fans complaining about the strength of Scunthorpe etc and vice versa, there are merits to both sides line ups and both bring something to the league. It is a league for developing riders as well as for teams being competitive I don't care what anyone says.

Konopka, Williamson, Crang, Greenwood, Benko all on par with Carr.

Kent V Wimbledon Bank Holiday Mon 26th May 3pm
Ben91 replied to waco's topic in National League Speedway
Baseby has been around a long while, he's got a 4 point average for a reason. -
Garrity and Nielsen at reserve should have most teams in the league scared. If one/both of them were to move up we'll always have decent reserves and a strong number one now and they are the key components to a good speedway team. One change has helped get my enthusiasm back I have to admit and if JB and Mattress can pick up a little we're going to cause other teams a lot of problems from now on.

Perry is a Leicester rider in the EL, no good for a Saturday track. Magnus Karlsson would be a pretty uninspiring signing tbh. I'd go for Rosen, will only get better. If there's points left go for Nielsen at reserve, if not then Morley. It's time to stop sugaring the pill, Lambert is pony. Been on the scene years and never amounted to any more than a PL reserve. We're a sports team in a professional league, carrying passengers is not acceptable whatever way you want to dress it up.

Indeed, 2 consecutive promotions cushioned the blow though. Horrible place to go and lose nevertheless. -

They make an effort to improve though. Goes a long way. -

Not turning my back but not going to blindly pay £16 a week (plus programme and food on top) when we're carrying passengers almost 4 months into the season. Lambert isn't even doing that well for Kent, Morley is outperforming him most meetings whilst in the EL despite being one of the most experienced riders in the draft he's one of the lowest scoring. We've got points to use, there's no excuse not to use them. Morley for Lambert as a straight swap and a seven pointer for Bunyan is an option or a 5 pointer for Lambert and persist with Bunyan for the time being. I used to turn up week in week out and pay my money regardless but it's all wearing very thin now. -

Can combine both, just no enthusiasm for Rye at the moment, while we persist with underperforming riders yet again. Good odds there, I might see what long to score anytime and hull to win pays out, football betting is a lot harder than speedway or darts though, usually stick to those! -

Touched a nerve? At least I know what it's like to have won at the new Wembley being a Stevenage fan! But let's not start a discussion of any sort on a rye house thread haha! -
Unsurprisingly nobody has started a thread so I'll do it this week. Will be going out to celebrate Hull's victory over Arsenal in the FA cup final so won't even be attending this. Think Sheffield might push us, strong top 2 and Lanham is no mug at Rye. Hopefully all of our riders will be on song, need more from Bunyan and I've given up hope with Lambert.
-
If he does I'll not be going back to Rye, can't stand him. Was terrible for us last year too, should stick to being a gas man.

If you're a self-employed contractor, as a Speedway rider is to all intents and purposes, you have to supply your own transport and materials to do your job however.
-
Haha that's a different kettle of fish altogether. A mortgage is a necessity nowadays if you wish to own your own property, borrowing/receiving money to ride a bike is never a necessity unfortunately!
-
Not commenting on Fisher here but the theme of the thread in general. Riders make a living out of doing something which is their job. Helping a rider with sponsorship is all well and good but the ones that do plead poverty etc really annoy me. Fans are not in any way, shape or form required to give financial assistance any more than contributing to a rider's wages when they pay their entrance fee to get into a meeting. Anyone who thinks different or thinks they can be holier than thou because they do give money; reality check it's not so. If you can't afford to keep your kit running then you need to buy some kit that is within your price range or pack the sport in. It is sickening to see people in this world living beyond their means and spending money that isn't theirs.

Adam Roynon Dropped By Sheffield
Ben91 replied to StevePark's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I agree with what your saying, in my book Sheffield haven't abided by the rules but then in their defence the rules appear as clear as mud! -
Adam Roynon Dropped By Sheffield
Ben91 replied to StevePark's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Are people seriously suggesting Roynon should get a ban for withholding his services? His contract with the club was broken by the club, he has no obligation to them to turn up and ride anymore. There should have been no facility at Berwick. This mix up was Sheffield's fault, no one else's, they should have made sure they had an eligible team to fulfil their side at Berwick in advance. -
Rye House V Scunthorpe 26th April
Ben91 replied to Dave Stummings's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Kennett will receive a new average anyway I believe, the cut off point for meetings that count had passed before Saturday. Most staff are volunteers too, not sure on first aid. Maybe Len did just get it wrong this time, did fancy going Saturday though, was annoying to see the sun out and no meeting on. -
Not at present, be a perfect signing.

Rye House V Ipswich 20 April League Cup
Ben91 replied to Vincent Vega's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Kennett will get a new average in the green sheets I believe, should give us an extra point at least to play with. That gives us at least 5 points to use replacing Lambert. Get Stefan Nielsen in, good round Rye and has potential. Having Lambert in the team is like leaving your handbrake on driving along the motorway. -
Right choice definitely made in that case, Rumsey and Mullins have both been round a fair while.
