  1. Be very disappointed if we don't win tonight tbh. Plymouth's side is absolute toilet.
  2. They could do it due to the awful grading system though. On a separate note, tonight proves nothing IMO, Kings Lynn have only got two riders in their side who can be seen as on their way up rather than just NL journeymen, of course they were going to win by a hefty margin.
  3. Remember him breaking the tapes/missing 2 minutes and going out to team up with Eddie for a 5-1 the Friday night that we tonked Berwick at home. What a partnership that was.
  4. I'm not slating James Wright here but the reasons you are putting forward just don't cut it. People who pay riders wages by going to meetings are allowed an opinion. If you want to entertain people then take up acting/singing/dancing. If you're a sportsman and your goal is not to win then you should re-evaluate what you're doing.
  5. Both points are completely true. Neathy was a marmite rider, he was fantastic round Rye though and in 2011 really started to up his game away too and was on the road to being a proper number one in 2012 had he not had his career ending injuries in the first meeting.
  6. It's not too early to predict how he will perform though, he's been around years and it's common knowledge he's a gating tart. It is good that we've hit the ground running but Lambert is a concern for most fans, that says a lot.
  7. Dryml is going to find the PL a major struggle. He's Lubos Tomicek mark 2, relies on his gating too much and looks pony when he doesn't make the start.
  8. The points limit should be lower, the stand alone sides have to fit the agenda of the league, the league doesn't have to meet their agenda. As I've said before and no doubt will say again, if you give Cradley, Kent, Mildenhall etc a lower points limit then they will still be able to build winning sides but it will bring them into line with the likes of Scunthorpe, Buxton etc in trying to develop riders. Having lots of experienced riders floating round the NL helps nobody, one or two is good to help these youngsters develop yes, however the aim should be to push our young riders forward to PL standard, not let them stagnate. Well done to the Kings on the win, well done to the Stags on their ethos of team building. Hope all injured riders are soon back on their bikes.
  9. It's quite simple, if a rider is riding for two/three sides and owned by none then the higher league should take priority. The riders who are occupying EL reserve spots should in the main be racing as PL reserves in a draft system and the likes of Roynon, Birks, Howarth, Kerr, Boxall etc should be in the EL reserve draft anyway. Looks like a cost cutting exercise dressed up as a fast track system from where I'm sitting.
  10. That isn't a squad though. That's using guest riders. If you were a Birmingham fan you'd be pretty annoyed that Kennett was missing a meaningful league match to ride in a challenge, especially around a track he knows well. Challenge meetings are bottom of the pile as far as meeting priority goes. I could be wrong but I'm sure that the list of priority is as follows: Shared event Parent club (regardless of division) Elite League Premier League National League Challenge (regardless of division)
  11. Solid showing from the Rockets in a not so spectacular meeting. It's early days but Lambert is doing nothing justify getting yet another chance in the PL unfortunately. Overall I'm optimistic, Garrity and Boxall can only get better and Kennett will not lose many races round Rye this year. As for Dryml, it's no surprise he only mustered 6 points, he will average the same in whatever league he races because he relies on his gating solely. Poor signing for Peterborough there.
  12. Disappointing, a point was there for the taking and we have missed out. Perhaps Mattress should have scored a little more on a former home track, Simon Lambert should definitely have done better. He's too experienced now to live on the "big track rider" moniker, he should have a clue how to perform adequately at all tracks by now.
  13. So Peterborough should also be missing Blackbird. If I was in charge of Birmingham I'd be miffed to lose two riders to a challenge match. Just hope I don't turn up on Saturday to find out the three riders are in fact missing but we weren't told in advance.
  14. To be fair, One Direction are only the coolest band in the world if you are a teenage girl. I'd say any "teeny bopper" music should be avoided at all costs, there are enough teenage girls trying to cop off with NL second strings as it is haha! As for the original, it works, go with it. It's not hard to get it right with a bit of effort as we have been saying all along. Shame that effort seems to be lacking in most places.
  15. Poor Ty Proctor, better start a thread to discuss where he will end up come June.
  16. Right, what difference is there between a 50+ year old existing fan going to speedway and having to listen to music befitting of the exciting sport they are watching and myself, also an existing fan but only 22 years old having to listen something more suited to a wake when I go to watch speedway? Why is someones opinion suddenly more valid because of their age or the length of time they have been attending Speedway? Times change, it isn't too much to ask for a sport that wants to attract new fans to follow the times. Music that goes with the event is a bare minimum we should expect. That doesn't have to be R'n'B, Dubstep, Drum and Bass or whatever genres find favour among younger people these days. I listen to all of them myself but they sit alongside The Rolling Stones, Elvis, The Beatles, The Who, The Jam, Duran Duran, Stevie Wonder etc in my music collection. The list goes on. Another bare minimum is a good presenter/announcer, preferably a duo who can bounce off of each other, one in the box to give race times etc and another on a roving mike to add comment, interview riders, fans, promoters and anyone else of interest. Get those two things right to complement the racing, fill intervals and unexpected breaks in racing due to crashes etc and it would immediately make Speedway a more polished product. I'm pretty certain I could put together a list of 50 or so songs that would touch on a majority of popular genres, offer something for all fans attending a Speedway meeting and most importantly fit in with what is happening on the track.
  17. Think Manzares is good enough to average at least 4 this season. The Witches key man IMO is Hawkins. If he can be nearer the rider he was when he was at Workington than the rider he was when he rode for us then it'll ensure Ipswich always have two good reserves.
  18. Word on the street has the witches down for a 75-15 win Hopefully making the trip up, two even sides. Can see the Witches winning, hopefully we'll take a point.
  19. They are terrible, terrible songs too! I hope the riders didn't pick them themselves!
  20. 1. Jacobs 8.71 2. Williamson 3.33 3. Worrall 7.09 4. Perry 6.30 5. Nielsen 8.00 6. Phillips 3.00 7. Freemantle 3.00 All will up their averages IMO.
  21. Unlike the full time GP riders from Australia he isn't racing in all the top leagues and earning a lot more money than a PL second string either.
  22. To be fair we have accommodated Peterborough in making this the League Cup meeting as you will be missing riders on the original date for the cup fixture. These things work both ways.
  23. Very early for such speculation, Lambert may not even qualify for the event, but as a fan who will attend the NLRC I want to see riders who get to the event on merit. Look at the laughing stock that the ELRC became as it was made up of second strings in the last few seasons. Personally I want to seethe best 16 riders in the league at the NLRC.
  24. Peterborough will win but not by as big a margin as some are suggesting. Kennett will score solidly, whilst Tresarrieu, Garrity and Boxall can all perform on big circuits. The reserves hold the key, Bowen isn't know for big track prowess, however Lambert is probably better on the bigger circuits. If he does click he has enough experience and skill to put in a better performance than Jacobs and Greenwood.
