  1. That is one of the biggest problems with British speedway; it's tough to get any sort of atmosphere when you don't have a crowd.
  2. So you don't think there are any British riders that are "on the pace"?
  3. Other than all the crashes caused by the watering. I just don't get the comment about GB being "not as good as they believe themselves to be". We were nicely poised, and then got screwed by the track. We could/should easily have been a race from the race-off, and just two races from World Champions...
  4. Yeah, we're crap. I don't know why we even try. Just tell all British riders to quit, and we'll all be happy...
  5. I've received an email from someone asking me about a "European Championship" held at Ostrava on September 28, 1947. Obviously, it was an unofficial championship, but it was mentioned in Basse Hveem's book. Eric Chitty was second, Hveem third, and Karl Killmeyer fourth. It was won by one of the Craven brothers, and I assume it was Malcolm. Can anyone confirm, or provide any additional info, please?
  6. Anyone else notice the screwed-up captions again? Two riders in blue, there!
  7. Yout know, people are slamming Lambert, but I'm in total agreement with you there.
  8. Maybe they had planned on it, but getting stuffed in the first heat pretty much screwed any strategy. It's easy to mess around when you're leading, but whe you have to do it from behind, it seriously limits your options.
  9. Oh, come on, that's an exaggeration! He was the first one from - sorry, into - the tapes!
