  1. I was also in the press conference but on the other side of the room from the windows...........I must admit I didnt hear much apart from some banging on the window and I couldn't see much either as there were bodies in the way The disappointing bottle and the boos were mentioned at the end of the conference by Hans and while it had obviously riled the team a little I can safely say that it wasn't affecting their celebrations Perhaps the idiots should consider that while behaviour like this happens it could increase the chances of it happening to team GB abroad or perhaps even affect the treatment of travelling GB fans..................not to mention the fact that the two main candidates for the boos seem to thrive and ride better
  2. I would just like to cut in for a minute here and congratulate Middlo on a job well done this season and previous seasons................The man has had limited resources which often have suffered from injuries or have been coming back from them......there has been a dearth of talent breaking through the ranks and riders have had to be thrown in at the deep end at a premature stage.................critics only have to tot up current EL averages for the nations to see how the odds were stacked ............and yet we still make finals at the expense of at least one major nation and rapport and team spirit more often than not continues to keep us in with a shout .......and this undoubtably is highly influenced by the manager................ keep up the good work Mr Middlo and I for one want to see you in the job for years to come P.s I have had the pleasure of gaining a couple of mini interviews from Neil this week and can honestly say that he has been the most amiable down to earth and approachable in the pits, and backs his riders to the hilt....................unfortunately all managers are not the same but lets not dwell on the negative
  3. Interesting comments Steve but although reasons have been volunteered i'm not sure anyone has come close Last season Jason was as fast as everyone else if not a bit faster but Trick was on a different planet..................this year the tables have been reversed...................nobody can seriously be suggesting that a lack of hunger is the cause for Trick looking so ordinary as hunger or no hunger it shouldn't affect his engines to the degree of difference there seems to be between this season and last season..........I dont see how someone can come up with such a winning formula and lose it overnight ..........and if Jason is suddenly setting land speed records on GM's - why weren't the other GM riders doing the same this year and last?......and as Steve points out it doesn't quite explain Antonio's form on Jawas recently the two guys have been and will be legendary but i'm a little foxed by this scenario
  4. i'd have said he blasts them away!! I'm still a little confused how a rider can be that head and shoulders above everyone ...including another guy who was head and shoulders above him last season...................we are not talking about a small variation in form here between Trick and Jason
  5. hmmmm yeah checked again and they have changed the statement......bit sneaky
  6. reading between the lines I think there has been a cock up somewhere ..........read speedwayworld.tv - there is a corrective statement on there today regarding tickets..........they are available on the door and they are able to be reserved...........the answerphone message for the stadium is also saying the same thing
  7. As I have posted on another thread there was never any intention to have the track any other way as watering only began shortly before the racing ...............it suited the Danes and the Brits to have the track the way it was ......I was amazed we had any passing at all Tonight will see just how high Speedway as a whole wants to aim for .......it is perhaps the biggest stage of the season, now that the world championship is spread over so many rounds, and the perfect opportunity to have four fairly equally matched teams have a ding dong battle..............i'm sure the trackmen have their work cut out with the changing conditions .....but im equally certain that it can be achieved
  8. If the track is the same as on Thursday then there will only be one winner .....Denmark..............but there will be several thousand losers on the terraces here lies the problem..........for sure Mr Olsen would love to prepare the track to suit his countrymen but BSI and FIM know that the other night was certainly no attractive spectacle (with the exception of a few heats)....speedway will always have to win the 'first out of the gate' battle ......the SWC final is probably the worst time to experience it...not to mention the dust! The water bowser was noticeably absent on Thursday until an hour before the meeting - i'm hoping that i'll turn up today to find some furious watering taking place on a deep surface ........and then all four teams will have a chance
  9. we are as much to blame as Vega for this thread reaching 14 pages......if we had all just ignored the trolling opening post there would be no issue
  10. I'll be watching the repeat with interest this morning......I must admit I felt that Hans was up to his old (present? future?) tricks until Scott passed him....which just made it sweeter I am certain that Hans will be the next guy to step up to challenge Jason Crump for world championships but until he stops making square bends and looking at his opponents as targets, his list of detractors will keep growing
  11. Why are people complaining? Would they have preferred lots of dirt down running the risk of the Poles reveling in track conditions? or a slick track to guarantee Brit qualification? Ironically I think a pile of dirt is an absolute must for Saturday with the likes of Loramski, Bomber, Steady and Scott in the team ......GB will lose a gating competition 9 times out of ten when the Danes and Swedes are involved
  12. Vincent Vega Stop spouting crap old dude......... Neil Middleditch has done a very good job in difficult circumstances over recent years.....who would you have there instead? shouldn't that be 'had'?? As far as the strongest team goes it is looking very even this year......all the nations seem to have 3 world class backed up by 2 international class..........the final two meetings will be fascinating and I hope the winner comes from the run off
  13. Interesting stuff Rico thx...................Do the Poles not 'call up' a squad like the Brits? p.s. you going tomorrow? (or is that a silly question?)
  14. pleased he did even if I did collapse with shock! ...........it was the right thing to do
  15. as the 04 SWC showed us anyone can win.......Sweden had a depleted team that year but turned on the style If it is purely down to who are the strongest on paper then we are most certainly looking at Denmark but i'll be backing GB all the way as usual
  16. poor guy but his name will certainly be remembered and he looked handy in his following ride......................would you consider him to be in the same class as Kauko FSP? If any criticism should be aimed at a team of GB riders then it should be at the late 70's and early 80's teams ............we had the likes of Collins, Morton, Jessup, Carter, Lee, Simmonds, and countless other 8 and 9 point riders to support them and yet we only walked away with one title in the era How do we acheive that aim? By following through with the grading system (not making a mockery of it) and then nurturing the guys right up to international level................................one other thing to consider is the lucrative sponsorship deals that the Swedes, Danes and Poles manage to pull off...........until our guys gain the same they will always be playing catch up
  17. I don't see that when the other two riders were already away and in front .....Jason had the choice to take any line down the backstraight but decided to cut hard left across Tomi Reima on the white line I agree with Eastie... if a rider is given nowhere to go unecessarily then the verdict should be an easy one to make .......and of course it would have been if it had been Jason who had been on the receiving end
  18. I don't think the attitude was wrong although it would be nice to see Scott be victorius against one of the big boys in a pressure situation...............if there could be any criticism it would be that on a few occasions some of the team members were going wide on bend 2 for no apparent reason when it was obvious the way the track was riding and that previous attempts to go wide on that bend had resulted in being passed or a loss of ground It must have been painful viewing for yourself Mr P ...........I did have plenty of sympathy for you while watching...............although in saying that I didn't think any of the guys disgraced themselves and Kauko in particular rode very well........In a parrallel universe somewhere Mr Kylmakorpi made a big difference to the end result
  19. The way I saw it was that Reima was in front of Crump going into bend 2 but Crump had all the momentum..........Reima had the white line, Crump had the rest of the track.............Crump decided to cut in when he knew his bike wouldn't clear Reima and that Reima wouldn't have anywhere to go It was a harsh move that almost ended in injury and one that should have been penalised in my opinion ...............
  20. Thought it was a good meeting but a little sore about the end result as Crump should most certainly been excluded after taking out Reima in their first ride......weak decision from the ref and one of a few key moments during the night saying that though the Aussies are back and the SWC is as good as ever
  21. so hands up who still think after ht20 that GB can't win it? hope you didnt put too much money down!
  22. totally agree with that it would only be right............a couple of noms would not hurt the process I really do understand what you are saying Subedei......no rider should be able to sit back in a comfort zone unless maybe they are top 3 or top 5......and even then.......I guess the problem lies with the way the GP system is setup and that it is safe to say that the top rider from UK, Poland and Sweden are safer than safe in receiving a wild card I'm still thinking that your negative feelings about Scott are colouring your views on this.........you feel he should be held to one thing he said in one interview?? and if it is about 'serial failure' then we would have a very small GP field wouldn't we?! Can I ask you what Leigh Adams was doing at Scott's age? Lets hope Scott continues the relatively good GP form and is rewarded with some points for his efforts ....this would hopefully allow another Brit in the back door .......now who do we reckon that would be?
  23. no but would it be fair to say that you have a vested interest in ridiculously taking him at his word? Your negative posts on Scott haven't passed me by as i'm sure they haven't for others give the guy a break Subedei....i'm sure we would all like him to be fulfilling his potential or even if you don't feel he has any more, reaching finals and easily making the top 8 but...........I may be wrong here, but is it not the case that only two riders have made more semi finals than him? Regardless of what he said in one interview I think the man would deserve a wild card with the current system as it happens I think the whole system is still wrong...............The qualifying rounds should be more extensive...more GP positions on offer....more riders should be included and not on a nomination basis only either.........this would also encourage the majority of the GP field to take part instead of sitting back comfortably
