Sheffield v Leicester - BSN 24/07/2025
Heathcote replied to 40-38's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Steve Worrall said earlier in the season that he only wanted to do the one league. Although Sheffield have until the 10th August to make a change, 75% hits on the 11th when they ride against Belle Vue. By the 10th August Scunthorpe will only have 2 meetings remaining, as i doubt they will make the play offs, so maybe he will do more than one league for a couple of meetings if it extends his season into September -
If the greyhounds are moving to Dunstall Park then what does this mean for the future of Monmore Green? Surely Wolverhampton cant sustain 2 dog tracks less than 3 mile apart?

Birmingham v Sheffield Mon 16th June PL

So, how and why are Birmingham being allowed to run RR for MJJ when the 28 day facility ended yesterday? -
If there is 10 points to play with why not go with James Pearson and Michael West, both currently in Europe and neither riding in the UK
-
Ooops sorry. Meant -28. But was still considering the minus 16 at heat 8 Anyway stand by my original comment the Brummies won’t hit 30
-
Ipswich v Birmingham Snapped up the -16 @5/6on offer for the Witches, cant for the life of me see how the Brummies get 37 points at Foxhall, will do exceptionally well to get 30. Rew Over 6 @5/4, is a no brainer, likely to get 6 rides and should be able to hit the occasional 2nd place. Brennan over 10 @6/5, dont see him getting beaten and the likelihood of Emil and Doyle skipping heat 15, should mean Tom gets 5 rides MJJ under 9 @ 10/11, will do well to be beating Thompson and Jenkins around Foxhall let alone the top 5. Sheffield v Oxford Sheffield will win this easily but whether they can cover the handicap of -20 is unknown, using RR they may well have hit 56 points, but with the changes to the Tigers septet, it could be a bit hit and miss how Sedgy and Kerr hit the ground running. Wright over 6 @6/5, for very similar reasons above, 4 rides and should be coming 2nd in all of them, add in a potential heat 15 and should easily get over 6 Riss +1 over Rowe @ 6/5, Both will probably score a similar amount but with the possibility that Riss will get a TR and also Heat 15 then will outscore Anders from his 4 rides.

Worrall stated at CLRC that he would only ride in the Championship this year wants to get back to just enjoying speedway riding once a week -
Willing to take a punt on Oxford at +4, they managed 42 points at home to Ipswich so should be capable of 44, 45 points at home to Leicester Charles Wright over 7, feel he should have the beating of Kildemand in most heats and more than capable of finishing ahead of Leicesters lower order, with the possibility of 5 rides should be getting almost double figures Gusts -1 over Kemp, Now Sam Hagon has gone and a "home" rider brought in just feel it may be harder for Kemp to score as freely and certainly shouldnt be picking up any extra rides, so as long as Gusts performs well in Heat 2, Kemp will find it hard to score more than Gusts
-
Kings Lynn v Leicester Happy to back the Stars at -4, personally think this will end 49-41, The Stars may only win the occasional race but dont see them running many lasts. Fricke over 11, based purely on the fact he will probably take 6 rides Cook over 4, he cant keep putting in poor performances can he? A decent return yesterday should give him a confidence boost, ok the opposition he beat yesterday wasnt great but many of those are still better riders than Howarth, Kemp and Hagon. Surely good for 3 second places tonight at least. Belle Vue v Oxford Going to take a punt on Oxford at +12 @ 11/10, still not overly convinced by Belle Vue's bottom end, yes Kurtz Lidsey and Bewley should be getting 30-32 points between them, but can Blodorn, Cook and the reserves hit another 18-20? Gusts will be the key obviously, if he can take 6-7 rides and reach double figures, then Wright, Riss and Magic popping in with 7-8 each may just take the Spires to 40 points Riss +1 over Blodorn, would probably outscore him with just 4 rides but the potential for 6 means he should do it easily Wright over 6, should be beating the Aces second strings and reserves, and with 5 rides should get over 6 Kurtz +4 over Tungate, I dont see Rohan getting 7 points and apart from heat 13 I dont see Brady being beaten
-
Ipswich v Oxford Ipswich -24 @ 5/6, barring crashes and EF's this will be a comfortable victory for the Witches around the 59-31 mark Emil -2 over Magic @ 4/5 pretty sure Emil will have put his Monday night troubles behind him and will be hitting 13-15 points Tungate over 6 @ 11/10, Hit double figures in his visit here last season and at the only track in the country he has done more laps around than Oxford now, if Rohan cant get 7 points then he's in for a very long season. Leicester v Belle Vue Leicester -4 @ 6/5, A very solid Leicester side against the power house top 2 and at the moment I dont see the Aces second strings and reserves living with the likes of Becker, Howarth Douglas and Kemp away from the NSS, I see this as a 10 point home win Kurtz over 12 @ 11/10, based purely on the hope he has 6 rides Sheffield v Kings Lynn A tough one to call given the gaters paradise that Owlerton was last week. If Sheffield gate as well as last week and the Stars are as poor out the gate as Birmingham then yes it will be a comfortable home win. Although if the likes of Lawson has his gating gloves on and the track is similar to last week then he can easily be picking up double figures. Only bet Im comfortable with is Pickering -2 over Iversen @ 21-20, As last week, Josh partnered now 3 times with a home reserve and the possibility of 6 rides should see him hit 11-12 points minimum and I dont see Niels hitting double figures;
-
Belle Vue v Kings Lynn Kvech over 5 @10/11, picked up paid 4 on his only visit to the NSS last year, this year will be better prepared and dont see how he cant get 6 points, Should have the beating of all the Aces second strings and reserves Klindt -1 over Cook @ 10/11 Just a pure punt that Nicolai may be able to transfer his weekend form into beating Zach around Belle Vue, whilst Zach still works out the quickest lines to take Birmingham v Ipswich Willing to take a punt on Birmingham at +10, Still not convinced by King and Ellis away from Foxhall, plus Ellis managed to miss all 3 visits to Perry Bar last season, so may be a bit rusty around the track, Birmingham should have enough to get 41 points MJJ +1 over Ellis @4/6, for the reasons mentioned above, Ellis lack of recent track time at Perry Bar and MJJ may get 5 rides Brennan over 9 @6/5 back at his former track, should pick up a couple of heat wins at least and should be finishing ahead of Ellis in most of rides.

At home...Jack Holder v Wolves in 2021, paid max, he had previously ridden away for the Tigers that season, scoring 19 out of 21 on his full debut In 2018, Kyle Howarth, Charles Wright and Lasse Bjerre all scored paid max's on home debuts -

Probably the most boring meeting I have ever attended at Owlerton, one pass, Flint on Jeppeson in heat 8 and the rest you could fill your programme in 30 yds after the tapes. I doubt even if Birmingham had gated more often it would have been much different as the 2 times that MJJ and Zagar did pop out in front there was still no way Josh or Chris could pass them as the track offered nothing either inside or out. Maybe with last years injuries sustained at Owlerton, the constant slagging off of the Owlerton track for too much dirt building up on the outside and the recent injuries suffered by Tai, maybe the Tigers management and track staff took this onboard and produced an ultra smooth slick track....all in the interests of rider safety, which I'm all for. Although to part with cash for fuel, car parking, programme and entrance as well as my time, then sorry I demand entertainment for that kind of outlay, thankfully next week will be spent watching the "racing" on BSN -
