  1. I think there's becoming too much of an obsession about whether or not people are moving at the starts. Races get pulled back so often. Even when they aren't there is often discussion about whether or not they should have been. Blatant moving then, sure, bring it back. Exclude riders who touch the tapes. But these are guys on motor bikes with clutches poised. They might creep a bit. Good meeting last night. You could see the passion in the sides and I'm sure the eventual winners will come from this tie. Disappointing to see Coventry get 2 5-1s at the end as I was looking forward to the humiliation of the fans from said club who mocked Swindon's rubbish semi. Oh well, there's always next week.
  2. It's ridiculous for people to think Grag Hancock should retire due to the fact they think he is "boring". The guy is the reigning Worod Champion and looking likely to finish runner-up this year. I see no reason why he should retire (although his farewell lap at Cardiff did hint that he might). Until the younger riders can force Greg out of the top 8, there's no reason for him not to be there. And, at the moment, they aren't showing much sign of doing so.
  3. It's a bit pointless going down the "your teams a bigger cheat than my team" route really. Any team manager worth his salt is going to use a situation to his team's advantage if such a situation arises. They'd be stupid not to. People love to throw the word "cheat" about over the most stupid of matters. You even get it being bandied about if people suspect someone has dropped points in one place in order to gain in another. With regards to Zagar, I don't think people are criticising Belle Vue. It's more to do with the rider himself possibly being up to his old tricks again, just as Miedzinski did earlier in the year. It was. I don't think he was injured. His temporary time as cover with the club had come to an end. EDIT - This is from the Swindon website before the Belle Vue match: "North, who played a starring role in the win over Coventry in the last home meeting, will deputise for the unavailable Peter Kildemand." Swindon then brought Miedzinski back in for the next match, and then he promptly disappeared again. Swindon would not have had a facility for Miedzinski unless he turned up, and it was a token appearance by him.
  4. Is that the same Sheffield who, in their last home match had 2 guests plus one rider who doubles up with Coventry? They were riding against a side who were using 2 guests and R/R. Must be a different Sheffield.
  5. Zagar riding in the Golden Helmet on Sunday so presumably he'll be back on Monday.
  6. Poole for me. My second closest club and a very well run and professional outfit. Also very impressed with the way they have openly supported Darcy Ward. If Swindon aren't around next season I may make a couple of trips down next year. I used to like Coventry when Sandhu was running it. There was a yellow glow about the place and it had a bit of an aura. Went this year and it was like another World.
  7. I think he was from Bristol and used to travel the country selling pens. Kojak. Normally his verbals were good natured, but he was the cause of a mass punch up between the Oxford and Swindon teams one. Swindon won and were just coming out for a victory parade and he ran over and shut the pit gate on them. Next thing you know, mass brawl!
  8. Swindon at full strength with no injuries? That's one way of looking at it I suppose. We are a bit hopeless though.
  9. Shouldn't have done. It was fun to get a bit of needle going for important matches.
  10. Probably old pictures, from when he had his original accident. One thing Zagar and Belle Vue have done, though, with their cheating is motivate the Robins and turn all the neutrals into Swindon fans.
  11. The supposed "neutral" fans were always against Swindon anyway. People have had it in for us since we signed Darcy. The insults now being thrown Rosco's way by the Belle Vue sycophants are ridiculous. Bringing the sport into disrepute? For heaven's sake.
  12. So let's get this straight. Miedzinski has an injury, rides abroad but doesn't turn up for Swindon. People have a go at Swindon. Zagar has an injury, rides abroad but doesn't turn up for Belle vue. People have a go at Swindon. Yeah, that's consistent.
  13. I think this is true. In fact, I think that not only could Belle vue win this tie but they could even win the title. I remember going to Coventry v Swindon, and coming away on such a high. I actually thought to myself that Swindon were going to win the title - and I never think that! To have the rug so cruelly taken out from under our feet just after was a real blow. Life always comes and trips you up when you least expect it! In the circumstances, I think we brought in the best replacement we could. But Peter riding as a second string throws the side out of balance, and Darcy's injury seems to have affected the form of the side - and Nick Morris in particular. We have two sides here looking to win and see out the time at their stadium in a big way. As you say, the momentum seems to be with Belle Vue, but if Swindon can all click then there's no reason why we can't still do it.
  14. Alun Rossiter visited his grave in Swindon just a couple of weeks ago. Apparrently it is still well attended to.
  15. Presumably it would mean for someone injured after the deadline for making new signings ended.
  16. Tactical ride is also a bonus in the first leg if struggling.
  17. Oh right. Seems a bit unfair. In that case he'll probably pick Coventry and leave Swindon to get tonked by Belle Vue.
