  1. Don't forget the tac sub too. You can actually get up to 6 extra points in one race, not just 3.
  2. Agree with others. Just have a reserve. Let the managers use the reserve when they eel like it up to 5 times. Simple. Common sense. If teams don't have a reserve, then that's too bad. they'll just have to face up to having a rider missing if someone pulls out. But the option should be there.
  3. Jeff Sexton. Anyone remember him? Rode for USA against Rest of the World in about 1975 or 1976 at Houston Astrodome and was brilliant. Hair flying about all over the place.
  4. Continuity alert. How come the Lakeside number 6 was in the pits and in the race at the same time?
  5. And if they were going to beat one of them it would, most likely, be in the earlier heats - although the Aussies still had a choice to make anyway so could have picked accordingly.
  6. Yes, I noticed that too. He never turned down Britain. Britain turned him down. Wasn't Nick due to enter an under-21 competition as a Brtish rider but, for some reason, not allowed to or something like that? If he'd been given the opportunities he'd be riding as a Brit now and a certain section of Speedway society would be moaning about us having TWO Aussies in the side!!
  7. I'm not convinced it was the wrong selection in the nominated heats. Is it really wise to leave King and Lambert to take the real pressure ride? Better, surely, to out them against riders they have a better chance of beating. As good a performance as could be expected by GB. Australia simply had more strength in depth.
  8. I think what he is saying here is hat Linus should have blocked the Russian out before he was able to get alongside him.
  9. My touchscreen typing may well be a bit rubbish, but it's better than your maths.
  10. You only play for the tactical if you've got something to gain from it. Can't believe anyone would thing that might have been deliberate.
  11. Why would anyone have that thought? They would lose out by doing it.
  12. Poland would be a point up if they won that heat. That is better than being 6 down.
  13. What's that got to do with it? My guess would be because Bjerre was an idiot. He had nothing to lose by letting Harris past. He'd have got a bonus point. Why? Because they are on the same team. Well, they are today anyway.
  14. Complain about modern day speedway if you like, but try to keep the arguments real. Team riding is not throwing a race in a team competition.
  15. I don't like the double points rule, but your argument about throwing races doesn't add up. They are on the same team.
  16. Was Lambert clutching his goolies then after that crash?
  17. You must have hated the old days when more riders used to team ride.
  18. I think the TR had a more dramatic effect on crowd levels than a lot of people believe. I definitely noticed a visible drop in attendance from the start of the year it was introduced.
  19. 1 - The problem here is a lack of riders. One old style league of 18 teams would pretty much use up all the riders who race here at the moment. 2 - Not good for me. I always thought the Danish league seemed poor for that very reason. 3 - So we'd have matches cancelled for teams being unable to put together a side. That would cause forum meltdown!! 4 - Restrict the leagues they can ride in, and guess which one they'll opt out of. I don't know what the solution is, really, with so many guests. One would be to sort out the fixture list to minimise absences for riders in more than one team. Maybe use R/R more often for lower members of the side.
  20. Fine for Speedway Mail match reviews. Not so great for team building.
  21. Whatever Havelock's real reasons, his safety stance was vindicated when Chris Holder slid across the track on the first corner and there were no Coventry riders there to get injured.
  22. If they knew from the weather forecast that the meeting would be abandoned, why did they go?
  23. So do you propose going back to the old 6 heats rule that we had in the good old days? We had the same problems then but it wasn't down to Sky. In the good old days 6 heats were regularly forced through and then everyone sent home with no refund. I don't think the rule itself is the problem, it's the way it's applied. Last night should have been called off around heat 8.
