1st signing; Mick Bratley. Good move.

Surely Sweets will go EL next year (if there is one! ). IMO Fred could do with another year in the NL, with occasional PL outings. Too early for full time. TBH, wouldn't want Johno back anyway.

Good man. :approve:

I wonder if, given that he's now 40, JL will hang up his kevs and settle down back in Oz with Mrs Lyons? If this were to happen (and I've heard nothing to say it may), who could possibly come close to filling the Legend's boots? As a Brummie asset, James Wright would have to be worth a pop (on 9.38 I believe)........ ........or (whisper it) The Fish, cos he only lives up the road??????

Italian Grand Prix

So TG joins the great Jerzy Szczakiel in the annals of speedway history!! Seriously, well done Tomasz, fully deserved. And congrats to Bomber too on a great effort tonight. -
It does actually sound a very good idea, having a few different Stigs sounds interesting too. I too can remember star riders to coming to our track for match races, in the 70s we had a Mauger v Olsen and the place was packed, mind you they were probably the biggest 2 names in speedway at the time, rather like Gollob v Crump now but doubled (at least). Now there's an idea, Gollob as the Stig, after all he wouldn't have to speak would he??

"Leg trailing style" Is it Lee Smart?

He'll be changing his name to Browning at this rate!!

Dudley V Isle Of Wight (at Birmingham) (nl)
czechhero replied to rhidassa's topic in National League Speedway
Not a bad meeting overall, a bit gate and go at times, but Tommy P and Micky D provided some entertainment, as did Ash Morris at times. Sarje was well worth his 7+2, shame he missd the gate horribly in his 4th ride though (Likewise Dyer in heat 15 to spoil his max). IOW were very poor though, shame really. -

May be wrong 21CH, but I think that Micky D may have had an after meeting run at PB recently. -

Really hoping that the weather forecast is wrong for tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing an Islanders team at PB again and also to seeing Micky Dyer in action. -
Hi Jim, number 6 is in fact another ex Brummies, Ladislav Hradecky, Zdenek is 2nd left in his trademark floppy hat.

Wrong year Deano!

Well done to Sedge too. :approve:

Any idea who number 7 is in the team pic (3rd row down) on MIlan Spinka's website? http://www.spinka.cz/ARCHIV.htm

Have happy memories of seeing the Czechs in action at Stoke in 1978, they hammered the Potters 55-23 if I remember correctly. The Verners were riding and it was the first time I saw Zdenek Kudrna in action. To say they were spectacular was an understatement! The Stoke fence copped it a few times, but they always got up and got on with it. There was a certain "mystique" about Czechs and Poles back in the Iron Curtain days, shame that romance isn't there anymore. They don't seem as barmy as they used to be either, Tomasz Piszcz excepted of course!

Scotland, do you ever stop asking bloody questions???? Next season in MotoGP, the 250cc class is being replaced by the Moto2 class, which will be identical 600cc engines, all supplied by Honda and all sealed so the teams cannot touch then internally, in whatever frames teams choose to use. There is a rule that anyone who is winning all the races must sell that engine to anyone who stumps up (I think) $20000. This rule is designed to prevent teams buggering about with their allocated engine. Don't know how this rule could be applied to speedway, so don't ask me, ok?

I would imagine the fairest way to grade riders intially would be to use their GSAs from the previous season and take it from there.

Enjoyed this week's meeting, Mad Dog was awesome! How Tim Gomez walked away from that crash I'll never know, ouch!!
-
Wow, they actually showed meeting 3 from Costa Mesa on Sunday (at last) so I guess that one will be doing the rounds for a week or two.
-
Same here, I've set the V+ box to record every showing but all last week they were still showing the Costa Mesa meeting and the last 2 progs have both been quad racing! WTF is gooin' on??

Usa Speedway On Motors Tv Tonight

Good bits, bad bits, good to see Mad Dog in action. Why moan, speedway on telly, makes a nice change. Having said that, some of the camera work did make me feel a touch nauseus. -

Speedway GP (in the main)= exciting F1= boring drivel. Only comes anywhere near being vaguely interesting when something goes wrong in the race. Leave the SGPs as they are. IMO of course. -

Spot on, 545 it is. One of the better channels on the Virgin package IMO. This is great news, at least we'll get to see Mad Dog after all, after GD failed to book him for the Alan Hunt.
