  1. Yes he clipped Ashby's back wheel . Ashby totally blameless
  2. Best - Glasgow beating Cradley Heath in the 1992 inter league cup . Glasgow clinching the 2nd division championship in 1993 , first time it had ever happened Robert Nagy winning the division 2 riders championship , again first time a Glasgow rider had done that The Shawfield era of the early nineties was Glasgow's golden age Worst - Svein Kaasa being killed at Hampden in 1972 Glasgow having to ride home meetings at Workington in 1987 Glasgow dropping down a league for the 1974 season and losing McMillan and Beaton as a consequence
  3. Exactly , when our best rider reckons British speedway is beneath him , then the Back the Brit rallying cry takes a bit of a bashing
  4. While we're a slave to averages and points limits , then what do you expect . If promoters decide Lawson , R Worrall and Neilsen aren't an attractive enough proposition with their current averages , then that's just the way it is .
  5. Agreed Wolves have nothing to feel guilty about . It's a promoters duty to build a competitive side within the points limit . If a foreign rider fits in better than a Brit , then so be it
  6. Once upon a time the " Back the Brits " brigade were up in arms if a British rider was left on the sidelines at the start of a season , now they're jumping up and down and stamping their feet if the Brits don't have two jobs . I think Lawson would have been at Leicester if they hadn't stayed a Saturday night track and Richie was a victim of believing what he was promised . Hopefully having only Glasgow to earn a living from will guarantee a regular double points scoring payday for both riders as they struggle to make ends meet .
  7. So i'm loud , arrogant and blind to the sport's problems am I ? Oh well so be it . I go two or three times a week simply because , despite the sport's problems , I still love speedway . And when i'm at the track , I enjoy what I see , mostly , and can forget the awful politics surrounding the sport .
  8. It was awesome last year , bit of an anti-climax going back to a one day event
  9. Aye doing my warm up in the Black and Gold
  10. Maybe he's having a wee forced exile from the forum
  11. He can practice at Berwick then , and give me someone to cheer for
  12. There is that side to him . I saw him ride like a complete novice for Coventry at Peterborough one night and then watched him finish on the rostrum at the GP Challenge final at Poole the following night . Yes Kasprzak can be unpredictable , but he's reached heights in our sport that I can't see Cook reaching .
  13. Kasprzak obviously . When he can be bothered he's as good a heat leader as anybody , whereas Cook is reliable journeyman rider in the top flight , he's not made the jump into world class speedway to the level Kasprzak has . Plus Cook rode for Edinburgh
  14. I don't mind paying the full price to get it on a Thursday every week .
  15. Only in speedway does a competitor get so harshly penalised for having a successful season .
  16. Both Templeton brothers fall into this category , though Dougie was the better of the two , both were as hard as nails and not to be messed with . Funniest thing I ever saw during Glasgow's spell at Hampden was a very youthful Bobby Beaton, through his inexperience and youthful aggression ,put his team mate Dougie in the fence . Needless to say Dougie wasn't impressed and let Bobby know in no uncertain terms , then as usual Beaton senior appeared to stick his ore in and the result of that was a full scale scuffle between team mates and officials , with Willie being restrained by about four people .
  17. Yeah you can only have two from the same track riding for a Premiership club . I always thought Richie and Dan Bewley would be the two , as did Richie himself as he was told to hang fire as there would be a place for him . But there's no loyalty in speedway , we know that , but this is a particularly low blow for the lad to have suffered .
  18. That is just weird . I've never thought speedway comes across well on TV , the only true way to appreciate speedway is to be there to watch it unfold at the track .
  19. Plus it seems they have went back on their promise to Richie Worrall too
  20. Yeah but he wore pink leathers ..........wuss
  21. Seems the wilder a rider is , the more entertaining he becomes . I never considered Richard Green a nutter , very good rider , but not a nutter . But I never saw him round the County Ground . Jason Lyons ,when he started at Glasgow , was definitely out of control a lot of the time , but also very exciting to watch . Likewise Jesper Olsen , when he arrived at Shawfield , made almost weekly visits to the ambulance .
  22. Hard to believe it's 15 years since he was a Tiger . Been a great servant to British speedway and he deserves this
  23. Reading the complaints on this forum , especially over the festive periods , about their Speedway Star being days late puts me off ever getting a subscription . I'm quite happy picking mine up on a Thursday on my way to work .
