  1. Not surprised , don't think Belle Vue were very good at paying for anything . But was Fricke actually a Monarchs asset in the first place ? I'm sure I was told , when he came over to ride after the meetings at a few tracks the season before he rode for Edinburgh , that Wolverhampton had signed him up .
  2. Well said Jenga . They'll ignore our league , so I couldn't care less if it was on telly or not . Anyway speedway is a hundred times better in the flesh .
  3. You're correct , Ashfield and Armadale is about the same 45 minutes apart , so that shouldn't be an issue unless they planned to race on the same night .
  4. Maybe so Iris , it's just that it's a style that has all but died out . Cup shocks at Celtic park on the other hand , maybe not
  5. Carl Wilkinson has that sort of style on the bike . Not sure the modern bikes allow properly a leg trailing style , but Carl's as near as today's rider is to that
  6. Nothing wrong with kebabs , they never done me any harm
  7. Aye you've had enough of those anniversary thingys , best off at the speedway
  8. Away man , I've missed wedding anniversaries for speedway and accepted the flak . Ok i'm not married anymore , but speedway saved me
  9. Very possibly make a wee tour out of it , depends if we're at home on the 5th Just checked and we're not , so I possibly will stay down
  10. Don't know about a pre season one , but I hope you guys will be up for another drink in the bar after the meeting on May 4th
  11. All Jenga's fault . It was an informative and interesting thread on a stalwart of British speedway's possible comeback , then Jenga got involved and it all went to pot . So the rule is Jenga stays on Workington threads if they'll have him .
  12. I prefer my speedway in the flesh , so couldnt give a toss . Especially if they're going to ignore the Championship altogether , they can go swivel .
  13. Indeed it was , against Neil Evitts and Peter Carr , what a race , what a meeting
  14. Best meeting I ever saw at Sheffield was in 1991
  15. There should be a Trelawny in there somewhere
  16. if that's the Robert Smith chippy , it's vastly over rated . I got a steak pie supper there once and the pie was freezing in the middle , I haven't been back there since
  17. Why ? People are interested in what David's plans are regarding resuming his speedway career . Just because you used it as an excuse to have another pop at Glasgow , that doesn't mean the thread should be killed .
  18. David is an ex-Tiger , so why not ?
  19. What's wrong with wanting to win Jenga ? Is that not the point of entering any competition ?
  20. In my lifetime ( was too young to see Craven ride ) , you have to put Woffinden top of the list . Despite him turning his back on British Speedway , he is a double world champion . 1 Tai Woffinden 2 Peter Collins 3 Michael Lee 4 Mark Loram 5 Dave Jessup 6 Malcolm Simmons 7 John Louis 8 Chris Morton 9 Eric Boocock 10 Kenny Carter
  21. His obsession with Glasgow is keeping him awake at night . Cant really blame the poor bloke . We all know there are two types of speedway fan , Glasgow fans and those who wished they were Glasgow fans
