Rye House V Plymouth 27/4/13
hooversquash replied to cityrebel's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Well, its now some 2 and 1/2 hours since Bolly updated you with the 'no rain in Hoddesdon yet' and I can further add we have had 'no rain since then' and the sun is currently 'blinding'! Blue sky and a few clouds. To the North, we have a few grey clouds, but nothing threatening yet, especially to warrant a call off so early!! -
Am on 12 days holiday, using up 'last years' surplus. More Info to follow from my man on the inside! If he has sobered up from yesterday!! lol From all accounts, It was Olly Allen, getting to know the place. Nelson was present, but didn't get on the track. The rest were 'noboddy's' according to Anthony err... my snitch

Action at the Rye House stadium this morning. Looks like a practice session for the teams. The season approaches.

Ok, lets gets the grey matter moving for the new year. Nelson & Garrity are now going to be 'Neighbours', living in caravans inside the stadium! It will be ok.......won't it? (The Greatest Show on Earth)

Posting courtesy of Facebook Tyson Nelson Good news got me work visa for uk. Pumped for 2013....Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew

I was of course being my cynical self. I fully expect him to be here at the start of the season, be our Team no.1 by the end of April and be honoured in the Queens birthday list. Oops, there I go again.

Look on the bright side. With the possiblity of Boxall riding for the Spitfires/Invicta/whatever..., at least we will have a seasoned rider in the wings to come into the side if all else fails! lol. Shoot me now.
-
"It will be largely made up of Rye House contracted riders including Ben Morley, David Mason and Connor Coles - with Steve Boxall another possible name to don a new race jacket." - Hoddesdon Mercury 'All hail the prodical son'!

Luke's Visa is in the post. Honest!
-
If all else fails.... I spoke to Luke yesterday. He is seeing his specialist in the next couple of weeks, but early indications are his leg is healing quickly. He estimates the metal rod will be removed early June next year, leaving him available to get back on a bike. He still thinks he can do a solid job in the main body of the team, but it's that old chestnut about 'paying the bills'. He's now had three seasons with injurys that have prematurely curtailled his involvement in league speedway and hit the pocket accordingly. With his engagement to Rachel, I think he is now better suited in looking to carve out a new career off the track, instead of having bits carved off of him! With his level of enthusiasm, he would always be usful to someone in the pits?
-
I'll go for crazy. As mentioned many times before on this forum, Luke is not going to be anywhere near riding until August/September once his pins in his leg are removed. On top of that, I understand he has settled into a regular job outside speedway. I'm sure Rachel would prefer to see him choose another career with his accident history. So count him out of 2013.

No 'Mr Big Stuff' in your line up?

I've been thinking about why we have been paying the highest admission fees for the poorest team in the league so decided to use some reverse psychology with Len. I'm going to insist on paying £17 to get in, £4 for my program and £3 for a can of lager. With regards to the 'equally split' weekly prize draw, let's make it 49/51 in Len's favour! At the end of heat 15 we will all turn towards the referee's box, nod approvingly and appalude loudly, where upon I will call for three cheers for the referee. There will be an obligatory 'empty your pockets' of all change upon exiting the stadium collection, in aid of the ' stadium caravan regeneration fund'. All this being nice is bound to reduce Len to opening his wallet and ensure we have the best team in the league next season. Don't see why no one else thought of this!

Rye House V Redcar 8/9/12
hooversquash replied to cityrebel's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
We all know times are hard at Rye House & Len is "cutting his cloth accordingly" (Red Dan), but I need some help in understanding the stadium 50/50 raffle? My interpretation in that of all the tickets sold, 50% goes into the rider pot & the other 50% is the prize to the lucky ticket holder. Last night for instance, I bought tickets, both blue & yellow (2 books being used along side each other), so I get strips with the number begining 661. All ok there. The wining ticket begins with the number 161 (woo hoo) and is paid out £75 winnings. Is this correct or should it have been more? -
How about introducing a Polish rider somewhere in the team. Would certainly help the crowd numbers!
-
I'll be able to use my old rye shirts again if they did! lol

Rye House V Workington 13/8/12
hooversquash replied to cityrebel's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Leigh Lanham is the replacement for Charlie Gjedde tomorrow night (per Craig Saul announcement on the Rye website). However, forecast is heavy rain from 3pm onwards, so my prediction is that the meeting won't start! http://www.ryehouse.co/default.aspx
