  1. Plus either us (Dudley) or Buxton will finish top of the National League as well.....
  2. DUDLEY Heathens are gunning for a bumper win over Weymouth at Perry Barr on Wednesday in a bid to lift the National League leaders' trophy in their first season. The former Cradley club need a big victory to put them four-points clear of Buxton with a superior points difference. The Hitmen have to go to King's Lynn on a date to be arranged for their last league meeting - but a mid-week win for the Heathens would make them favourites to finish top of the pile. Boss Will Pottinger said: "Wednesday is a big night for the boys. We're all raring to go after the disappointment of the cup defeat by Buxton last week and the boys know we need to win by a big margin. It's a very important meeting for us." *DUDLEY'S challenge match at Stoke on Saturday has been postponed as the Potters need to re-arrange an official fixture on that date. c/o www.dudleyspeedway.com
  3. DUDLEY: Lee Smart, Micky Dyer, Tom Perry, Jake Anderson, Barrie Evans, Ashley Morris, Richard Franklin. BUXTON: Craig Cook, Jonathan Bethall, Robert Branford, Adam Allott, Nick Morris, Lewis Dallaway, Jason Garrity.
  4. If Newport come away from tonight's match with no points then we'll finish top at the cut off for the play offs on Sunday and have pick of our opponents.
  5. DUDLEY Heathens can go back to the top of the National Speedway League with a win over Plymouth at Birmingham's Perry Barr Stadium on Wednesday (7.30). The former Cradley club, who share their home meetings between Birmingham and Wolverhampton, are on a fine run of form and only last week picked up a stunning home win over title rivals Newport. And if they can remain top until Sunday, Will Pottinger's men will have first pick of opponents in the all-important play-offs. League bosses have confirmed the cut-off for play-off standings is on that day. Said Pottinger: "The boys are buzzing and we're looking forward to this meeting, although it's only the third time we've raced at Perry Barr so we cannot take anything for granted. "I'm sure we will have the backing of a big crowd once again and hopefully we can send them home happy with three league points." Heathens reserve Richard Franklin is seeing a doctor in Coventry to see if he will be fit enough to race after his crash in the win at the Isle of Wight last Thursday. Admission prices for Heathens meetings are just £10 adults, £5 concessions and £2 children. DUDLEY: Lee Smart, Micky Dyer, Tom Perry, Jake Anderson, Barrie Evans, Ashley Morris, Richard Franklin. PLYMOUTH: Nicki Glanz, Jamie Pickard, Matt Bates, Seemond Stephens, Mark Simmonds, David Gough, Ben Reade.
  6. That's correct. We have one league fixture remaining after the cut off date against Weymouth on Wednesday 22nd September at Perry Barr.
  7. Newport have matches at Scunthorpe on Friday and Rye House on Saturday so they could finish top with two away victories but the great British weather could play a big part in deciding who finishes top of the league before the play offs!
  8. DUDLEY Heathens are expecting another bumper crowd for their biggest meeting of the season with title rivals Newport at Wolverhampton's Monmore Green Stadium on Tuesday (7.30). Both sides have hopes of finishing as league leaders going into the all-important play-offs and Tuesday's clash is seen as vital. The former Cradley club are looking for revenge after suffering a hefty defeat in South Wales earlier this season. Heathens boss Will Pottinger said: "I'm expecting a very tight match against Newport as they are a good side with strong heat leaders in Todd Kurtz, Mark Jones and Kyle Newman. "It's going to be tough but I'm sure our boys will give everything they've got to try and get a crucial victory. "A win over Newport would set us up nicely for the rest of the season." Barrie Evans continues in the main body of the Heathens team as a replacement for broken-arm victim Jon Armstrong. HEATHENS: Lee Smart, Micky Dyer, Tom Perry, Jake Anderson, Barrie Evans, Ashley Morris, Richard Franklin. NEWPORT: Todd Kurtz, Luke Priest, Mark Jones, Tony Atkin, Kyle Newman, James White-Williams, Tom Young.
  9. This meeting will now be restaged at Perry Barr on Wednesday, September 22.
  10. DUDLEY Heathens can go back to the top of the National Speedway League with a win over Weymouth at Birmingham's Perry Barr Stadium on Wednesday (7.30). The former Cradley club are at full strength for the clash which sees them gunning for the double over the Wildcats after winning at the Wessex Stadium in June. Heathens would love to finish in top spot to give them first choice of opposition for the play-off semi-finals - and a good performance will also put them in a confident mood for the biggest match of the season with title rivals Newport at Wolverhampton next Tuesday. Boss Will Pottinger said: "Everyone will fancy us to win this meeting but we won't be taking anything for granted, we have a job to do against a revamped Weymouth side." DUDLEY: Lee Smart, Micky Dyer, Tom Perry, Jake Anderson, Barrie Evans, Ashley Morris, Richard Franklin. WEYMOUTH: Byron Bekker, Daniel Halsey, Tom Brown, Karl Mason, James Cockle, Richard Andrews, Gary Cottham. c/o www.dudleyspeedway.com
  11. c/o www.dudleyspeedway.com DUDLEY Heathens can go joint top of Speedway's National League with a win over Rye House at Wolverhampton tonight (7.30). And the former Cradley club will have the support of a club legend with the appearance of Dave Perks, who made almost 200 appearances for the old Dudley Wood club. It's the first time Dave, who is based in the area, has had chance to see the new Heathens team in action and he will be available to sign autographs during the interval. There's a full colour double-page spread on Perks in tonight's programme which he is happy to sign. Heathens boss Will Pottinger said: "Everyone has told me what a determined rider Dave was and he's delighted to come along and support our team." Perks rode in 196 Heathens meetings, including their time known as Cradley United, between 1972-1981 and scored over 800 points for the club. Heathens hand a home debut to Barrie Evans who is in for the injured Jon Armstrong and Rye House are without Joe Jacobs and Shane Hazelden through injury. They're replaced by Ricky Scarboro and Ashley Birks. Another bumper crowd is expected with Heathens looking to continue their fairytale return to the sport after a 14-year absence DUDLEY: Lee Smart, Micky Dyer, Tom Perry, Jake Anderson, Barrie Evans, Ashley Morris, Richard Franklin. RYE HOUSE: Kyle Hughes, Marc Owen R/R, David Mason, Ricky Scarboro, Lee Strudwick, Tom Stokes, Ashley Birks.
  12. c/o www.dudleyspeedway.com NATIONAL League Speedway play-off hopefuls Dudley Heathens continue their exciting season of racing when they face Rye House at Wolverhampton's Monmore Green on Tuesday (7.30). The Heathens, back on track after a 14-year absence carrying the famous old Cradley Heath identity, have been one of the success stories of the sport, both on and off the track, this year. Another bumper crowd is expected to pack the Monmore terraces as excited Heathens fans back their young team against an impressive Rye House outfit. Heathens are currently third in the table, they're in the semi-finals of the Knockout Cup and are on the verge of booking their place in the top four and a shot at the league title. Boss Will Pottinger said: "Everything is positive right now but we have to take one meeting at a time, I know that sounds boring but you won't be finding any complacency in me or my riders. "We are at a vital stage in the season and we need to keep focussed. We will treat Rye House with respect and hope we can win by more than six points to give us all three points on offer." New signing Barrie Evans, in for the injured Jon Armstrong, makes his home debut for the Heathens who are unchanged from the side which picked up a bonus point at Poole against Bournemouth last Wednesday. DUDLEY: Lee Smart, Micky Dyer, Tom Perry, Jake Anderson, Barrie Evans, Ashley Morris, Richard Franklin. RYE HOUSE: Kyle Hughes, Marc Owen R/R, David Mason, Joe Jacobs, Lee Strudwick, Tom Stokes, Shane Hazelden.
  13. You are correct as we have been drawn against Buxton in the semi finals. No dates have been arranged yet though.
  14. Re-check the NL league table http://www.british-speedway.co.uk/nltable10.html
  15. DUDLEY Heathens are gunning for second place in the National League table when they face Scunthorpe at Wolverhampton on Tuesday (7.30). Heathens, who are backed in massive numbers by fans from the old Cradley Heath era, are on a fine run of form and are back at Monmore after last week's win over the Isle of Wight. Richard Franklin returns from a throat injury to make his first full appearance at reserve for the former Dudley Wood side. Boss Will Pottinger said: "This is a big meeting for us and we need to win by more than six-points to claim all three league points and go second in the table which would be a great achievement. "We're all looking forward to this in a big way, the boys are buzzing with confidence and so are the fans." Heathens have already beaten the Saints this season to make progress in the Knockout Cup - and they're looking to complete the league double after winning in Lincolnshire earlier this season. DUDLEY: Lee Smart, Micky Dyer, Tom Perry, Jake Andersen, Jon Armstrong, Ashley Morris, Richard Franklin. SCUNTHORPE: Mark Burrows, Benji Compton R/R, Gary Beaton, Gary Irving, Scott Richardson, Steven Worrall, Ashley Birks.
  16. IN-FORM Dudley Heathens moved into the National League play-off zone with a thoroughly convincing win over the Isle of Wight at Perry Barr. Heathens were rampant from the word go as they hammered home 5-1s in the first two races, with James Sarjeant keen to impress on his return to the team as a guest. The Islanders' sole resistance came from an early race win by Danny Warwick and a good effort by Nick Simmons to win Heat 5 for double-points - but three 5-1s to the Heathens put them in total control and set for an emphatic win. Jon Armstrong was unbeaten from four rides whilst Tom Perry and Micky Dyer put in some superb overtaking moves to delight the large crowd - with the Islander's late response being a last-heat 5-1 to deny maximums for Dyer and skipper Lee Smart. DUDLEY: Lee Smart 12, Jon Armstrong 11+1, Micky Dyer 10+3, Tom Perry 9+1, James Sarjeant 7+2, Jake Anderson 6, Ashley Morris 5+2. ISLE OF WIGHT: Nick Simmons 12+1, Danny Warwick 10, Dean Felton 6+1, Brendan Johnson 2+1, Ben Hopwood 2, Tom Hill 1, Ricky Scarboro 0.
  17. Rich won't be riding tomorrow night. As in the press release on the Dudley website, he was struggling to talk or eat yesterday. He might be back for our match against Scunthorpe at Monmore Green next Tuesday though.
  18. HEATHENS hero Tom Perry moves into the main body of the Dudley team for the first time in his short career at King’s Lynn on Sunday (7pm). Perry, the British Under-21 Grasstrack champion, has taken to the shale sport superbly in the famous green, red and white – and manager Will Pottinger has named him in the number three spot for the trip to the Norfolk Arena. Heathens are looking to complete the double after beating the Stars comfortably at Wolverhampton last month. But they’re without top rider and inspirational skipper Lee Smart who is riding for his Premier League club Stoke. Pottinger has drafted in Weymouth star Byron Bekker as cover. Said Pottinger: “We go to King’s Lynn hoping to get at least a point to keep the scoreboard ticking over. “But it will be tough around there, the fact that we beat them comfortably around Monmore counts for nothing.” KING’S LYNN: Simon Lambert, Scott Campos, Cal McDade, Adam Lowe, Darren Mallett, Lewis Kerr, Jake Knight. DUDLEY: Byron Bekker, Micky Dyer, Tom Perry, Jake Anderson, Jon Armstrong, Ashley Morris, Richard Franklin.
  19. 11.30am - 3pm in St. Mary's Street No definite plans have been revealed but it was mentioned in Speedway Star a few weeks ago that there should be a display of vintage bikes, speedway personalities making appearances, Leigh Adams with his motorhome, the Sky Sports team and photo opportunities with the grid girls
  20. DUDLEY Heathens have wasted no time in snapping up hot prospect Micky Dyer who will make his debut on Friday. Dyer, 19, is from New South Wales and will replace James Sarjeant in the Heathens side for their trip to Weymouth - and he will make his home debut in the National League clash with King's Lynn at Wolverhampton next Tuesday, June 29. Manager Will Pottinger watched Dyer take his first laps on a British track at Stoke on Monday when he joined the Heathens squad for a practice session arranged by former Cradley favourites Mark Robinson and Anthony Boyd - and he was suitably impressed. Said Pottinger: "We have taken the opportunity to strengthen the team. Micky comes recommended from contacts in Australia and after seeing him practice for myself at Stoke on Monday, I'm sure we now have a team to push on and challenge for the play offs and silverware. "I hope our great supporters will show their backing to Micky as he gets to grip with British Speedway with our matches at Weymouth on Friday and against King's Lynn at Monmore Green on Tuesday. "Unfortunately including Micky comes at the expense of James Sarjeant which I must admit is far from ideal. "Dropping a young British lad goes against the principles of the National League but until the system is changed this type of change is always a possibility. "We still have talented British youngsters in our team including Richard Franklin, Ashley Morris and Tom Perry but we thank James for his efforts so far this season and we wish him all the best for the future. "We have held open his place at the Golden Hammer next month and I'm sure the fans will give him a great reception." Dyer joins Dudley on a six-point average which means Wolverhampton teenager Ashley Morris moves down to reserve to partner Tom Perry for the two vital meetings with Weymouth and King's Lynn. The new riding order is as follows - 1. Lee Smart, 2. Michael Dyer, 3. Richard Franklin, 4. Jake Anderson, 5. Jon Armstrong, 6. Ashley Morris, 7. Tom Perry.
  21. I hope Greg's comments on Saturday night were just frustration at missing out on 3rd place to Gollob. I had to laugh at his cheeky comment about the roof being open He's still a very good rider despite his age. It must be all that monster drink he drinks
  22. it looks pretty certain that scott will be back in the gp series next season, as long as he accepts the nomination from BSI/IMG! as for chris i'm not sure he'll be back in next year. maybe a year away from the gp's will do him good. he'll probably be the wild card for cardiff next year anyway. freddie lindgren looks like he'll probably get a nomination as well but i cannot see anymore danes or poles being offered places.
