  1. Freddie Lingren is the man to ride at Brandon as guest does it mean he can ride for Bees in second leg I see for strange reason the home/sways averages to qualify are different
  2. How can it be nothing to ride for Cov and Swindon in action drawing at the moment therefore points scored tomorrow very important to decide 2nd/3rd position and all that it means!
  3. Don't kid yourself Mick Horton wants this,. Don't kid yourself Mick Horton wants this,.As a matter of interest the best as I see it. bees beat lakeside 3 points, Swindon at KL same night potential 4 points does this mean Swindon will take 4 points if they win by more than 6 points?
  4. I don't know about Hans but Stuart has cast doubts about his future in Speedway we are now poised to be an active participant in the Play offs. Surely we should look at the antics of Poole in previous years they wouldn't be sitting on their hands with semis/finals in the near future they would be doctoring their teams with a view to winning the League, which has worked in the past. I agree Garry had been monitoring Garrity all season why was he riding a non important match when the end of the season is nigh. Is it clear that Sky are now covering the Cov match tonight?
  5. I would ask Speedy 69 if he was present at the meeting it rained quite heavily from 1-10 and dangerous. Who is Peter Clark I didn't realise he was wearing a SCB jacket, this doesn't say a lot, referees are trained to a standard and nursed by senior refs. I hope someone identifies him and SCB are able to outline his qualifications!
  6. Having followed the whole affair up in the Coventry Telegraph I must apologise to Christina Turnbull (match referee) because I criticised her for not examining the track. I must say that I am now completely lost as to what happens when Sky record a meeting. The CT explains that televised matches have additional "licensed officials" in the pits so much so that the referee who usually has full control, in fact only deals with racing incidents on those occasions!. It appears that the meeting "STEWARD" was. Peter Clarke, I would ask who he is Speedway or Sky employee and what is a licensed official, licensed by speedway or Sky. CT explains that only the losing side can ask for a track inspection after heat 10. The reason being that any abandonment would automatically mean that they lose the match. But either side can ask for the track to be examined before heat 10. Havelock maintains that he spoke to the referee who referred film to Mr Clark.who refused the request. What a strange way of running a televised speedway meeting, I would again ask how many experienced speedway supporters are aware of these strange rules. Once again I apologise to the match referee but still ask who levied the fines on Horton, Havelock, Harris and Kylmankorpi. The match referee or the mysterious Mr Clarke. As I pointed out in my last rant if a rider had been killed I still consider there would be a possible case of corporate manslaughter against who?. It might be argued that Speedway needs Sky but sorry Monday night was a shambles, no sour grapes Poole did what they had to do,
  7. I have re read Coventry's report which refers to the meeting Steward decreed at heat 9 that the meeting should continue. One question I would ask seasoned Speedway supporters WERE YOU AWARE THAT THE MEETING REFEREE WAS NOT I N CHARGE FULLY OF ALL DECISIONS RELATING TO THE RUNNING OF OF WHAT HAPPENS ON TRACK. The arbiter appears to be the Sky Sports "STEWARD". If this is the case then it just shows how stupid the Speedway rulers were in accepting this decision. I bet this isn't the case in football or other sports. Be honest were you aware that the referee was not involved in this decision making and that it is left to a Sky employee. Surely the riders should address this anomaly for their own safety. Speedway is a dangerous sport and Sky should have no input into the final decision!.
  8. To reply I didn't say that Sky drove the tractor but they have the last say as tithe setup of the track, why should they have that power?. I defy any reasonable fan to suggest that this meeting should have started or continued as the evening went on downright dangerous after beat 8.
  9. PS let me add this's not sour grapes, Poole deserved to be leafing at time decision was made
  10. To reply to Woffers Mick Horton explained why he was disillusioned Sky dominate Speedway teams who own/rent their Stadiums are not allowed topreparetheir own circuits, Ronnie Russell running about as usual in his autocratic manner dominating the running of the meeting. Mick Horton has made it clear that he didn't want to run the meeting and wanted to all it off during the day as in Wolves and Belle Vue. It was raining heavily at the start and was still the same at conclusion of heat 10. Horton reports that he and Neil Middleditch wanted the meeting off at heat 8 as conditions were getting worse by the minute. I can't understand how an employee of Sky can dictate what happens at a Stadium where they are filming. The Managers wanted the referee to examine the track at heat 8 and she failed to do so. We live in a world of 'Heath and safety" how does this work in Speedway, I would suggest that if a rider had been killed last night at Brandon there could quite easily a case to answer for Corporate Manslaughter. I was there and have followed Speedway for 50 years and that track was not fit for a meeting to start. Sad on you Sky to which I subscribe the whole thing was a shambles mainly down mismanagement by Sky and the match referee must also be blamed for her part. I feel for Mick Horton who has lost a considerable sum of money not through his own making. Woffers suggest you take some of these points when you ask your questions! I know there will be criticism of me for denigrating Sky, this was a high profile meetin at this stage if the season and should have been staged in decent weather conditions. I'm sure Sky don't dominate other sports the way they treat Speedway. Supporters of Speedway are a unique breed watch 10 heats of "racing" moan, go home, back next meeting. We had this last night and even at top level Polish Grand Prix round. (I can't blame Sky for that).
  11. Great result from Bees I said before the season we had a good balanced team and they are provingt this. I say again full marks to Mick Horton for the team they have put together. Great start to the season well done all of them especially Robbo back from injury.
  12. Gemini I think we both sing from the same hym sheet in our expectations, when I talk about the tractor I was referring to the items that the tractor was towing I.e. Grading tools, a better variation than seen on most tracks in particular the roller. Another point is how lucky Doyle was to have 13 rerun, not first bench bunching, he opened it up realised he couldn't do it went down, no rider pushed him and he went down on his own for whatever reason he would like to give. It worked though he rode in the rerun.a big of sour grapes I would think.
  13. Gemini sorry I can't agree with you over track grading. The track was in perfect condition for a great race meeting which it was. I don't know if you looked at the different types of grade carried out, a great track by Dave Hemsley and his track staff. Mick Horton what a great side you have presented us with, Joonas brilliant and was the final nail that was needed to make us a team capable of honours this season. Well done Mick!
  14. Sorry Jamrog has been pitched in as a make believe replacement for the Pawlicks's etc, sorry Mick at the end of this season I can't see him Improving enough to help the Bees into a top level position. It's not fair on the guy if he was British he would just about make a reserve placement. He has no chance making it at Elite level (at the moment) and if we are to compete he will have to be replaced, he was off the pace. In time he could develop but not now. Three Poles on display by far he was in third place, early as it is if we have ambitions he needs replacing ASA
  15. Wednesday it rained all day surely the Speedway side could/should have been talking to the Stadium staff to rearrange this meeting. It's not rocket science, we started the season losing the Elite League riders and end with Storm riding their hard earned final at Leicester, great only "home" meeting I have missed all season.
  16. What is the matter with you moaners Storm were brilliant team spirit great some fantastic speedway stop bloody moaning and get behind both teams in Coventry otherwise you will lose the lot. I enjoyed tonight some great young riders who have progressed during the season. Great meeting to come against Cradley and hope Monday will give USA positive result.
  17. Mr Blobby. The point I am making is comparing Speedway with Ice Hockey is like trying to compare cricket with Table tennis!
  18. Mr Blobby ice hockey players have sticks, protective clothing ant much more, these young men have motor cycles, no brakes, no gears, very powerful and dangerous when handled badly.
  19. I say again the referee was at fault the race should not have started and whoever the referee deemed responsible on the gate should have been disqualified (to use the modern name) excluded . No argument Mr referee that race with two young men with dangerous machines in their hands should NOT have been racing against each other, at least he should have put he red light on AND delayed starting the race, sorry Mr Lawrence you have to examine your decision to start the race when the problem on the starting gate was not sorted!
  20. As a mature Speedway supporter a comment on Greaves v Sargeant the antics on the gate should have been stopped by the referee, he has the responsibility for the conduct of he meeting. One or both should have been disqualified, it was obvious tempers were frayed and that is not the way a Speedway race should have been started. I would suggest that had the referee used his powers then what happened afterwards wouldn't have happened. As a Coventry supporter I can't agree with some some of the commens about CH supporters behaviour. I spoke with a number of them and they were as shocked as others about the happenings. I was on first bend and there was no misbehaviour by them. Hope the guy who got knocked down is OK. There was no excuse for Greaves to jump Ito the crowd to seek out someone who had shouted. This type of conduct could quite easily have caused trouble o the terraces, which it didn't the CH supporters were NOT at fault.
  21. Sorry also should mention if you have a curfew and riding a double header you start the first race at 7pm that would help the situation also Coventry seem to be missing the gentleman who I think his term was pits marshall who always seemed to be chasing riders up to get out on track. As it turned out the star if the night for me was young Josh Bates with superb style so the races against our top two in those last five heats was missed. I notice that in the report from the club on the match just praises the Storm but fails to get to the nitty gritty of the missed heats. The meetings need some discipline and system which I regret is lacking!.
  22. Just to clarify my position the track was pretty good, not once did we see the riders from both teams complain even when it was raining fairly hard. The rain had nothing to do with the last five heats being cancelled. Time was wasted between heats, staff, riders chatting no urgency to run the meeting at a rate of knots bearing in mind that it was a doubleheader. I dread to think what could happen if this is repeated at the Elite double header with Eastbourne in two weeks time. Kelvin Tatums favourite gripe on television is riders going back to the pits when a race is stopped because of starting infringements. A terrible amount of time was wasted after Buxton vacated the visitors pits and Kent occupying and preparing, my main complaint is that no one appears to be in charge in the pits. I do think the Coventry management should come clean of this alleged curfew. There is no consistency in these meetings and as a Coventry supporter I believe we should be told what time events should be concluded. I would question what time do the Stock cars finish, I have attended in the past and it went on well after 10pm as have Speedway meetings.
  23. Who is this main man telling us we have 30 heats of Speedway. After 25 everything stops and as usual for Speedway supporters we all how home, muttering, complaining but doing nothing about it. My solution is that this is the last double header at National League level I will ever attend. Think about any Devon supporters who attended and paid their £15 having to watch a total one sided massacre of Buxton, if Tony Atkin hadn't been there there would gave been no competition, then they are deprived of 5 heats of supporting their team. At least Devon tried to make a meeting out of in particular young Josh Bates, brilliant, he was ready for heat 11 sitting on his bike, helmeted and what happens, match finished Curfew, never been heard of before in my experience at Brandon well over 50 years. Last double header finished at 10.45, with last heat called off. Brandonapolis last year? was still going at 11pm, went home before it finished. It's time the truth was told to Coventry supporters about Curfew's especially with Elite double header due in two weeks time. Sorry this was another prime example of how unprofessional Speedway is. Staff standing around, Peter York occasionally addressing ghe 'crowd'. No information to the fare paying customers, long periods of total silence, no information just "talk between yourselves for the next 15 minutes" A total shambles and that's how Speedway has become. Sorry I will this year have invested some £800 into watching Speedwaty at Brandon and as I feel at the moment this will be the last year of such "investment". Sorry but that's how I feel after tonight's event. I have supported Speedway at all levels for a very long time but this was a sad way to end any event.
  24. Bearing in mind Darcy Ward's disqualification in Sunday's Latvian Grand Prix round for alleged alcohol breach how is it that he has NOT been suspended from ALL Speedway meetings both in the UK and Europe until a disciplinary hearing has been held . It makes the whole of Speedway look like a "Mickey a Mouse" sport. An athlete is banned straight away. Speedway is a dangerous sport and the disciplinary code should be enforced without fear or favour to any rider in the sport of a Speedway. I would suggest that the respective a Promoters both in the UK and Sweden should give their decisions some thought. I agree innocent until proven guilty but Speedway should take their own swift action in these matters, fortunately not a common occurrence!.
  25. I think the referee did take some proactive action when he started gardening with the shovel, the starting Marshall spoke to him and he appeared to abandon completing his garden plot. Incidentally I have seen Barker in the interval gardening on the respective gates of the next Brummie riders in the next heat.(one his isn't riding in) I have often wondered if that is legal within the rules. Personally I think a rider is entitled to garden but only when he is on the gate prior to the start. I think what Woffy did should be against the rules it it already is not. Some swift action is needed by the authorities before they all turn with picks, shovels and their own broom.
