Briggo was tailor made for the wide open spaces of West ham. His bustling no nonsense style suited the track perfectly. He was also excellent at plough lane, where a racing brain was just as important as a fast motor.

A walk in the park for Kent tonight against a two man Cradley team. A very well run meeting, back home in Surrey just after nine!
-
How many tracks do make money at any level, only a few I reckon.
-
We've become a nation of couch potatoes I'm afraid.

I agree with everything you say. Although I'm not a lakeside fan, I have attended every home meeting this season. I have also seen the hammers at Eastbourne, Kent, IOW and Birmingham. Unfortunately I can't make next Sundays match against the Eagles. I have a prior engagement at Wembley the same afternoon!

Probably not. The stadium stands were mainly made of Wood, which would have been a fire risk in itself. The upkeep on such a large venue would have been expensive, considering the crowds were falling on a yearly basis.

harrfeldt broke his arm on the same night lofqvist made his debut for the hammers. A hard first turn by peter Murray ended his evening. I remember this, because it was my first ever visit to west ham, v wimbledon may 1970. An early birthday present from my old man!

Lakeside has been a very low key place to watch speedway this season. Poor crowds haven't helped, but the general apathy from the hard core just adds to The lack of atmosphere. For Me personally, I have enjoyed the meetings, but a lot of my fellow arena regulars have voted with their feet.

no doubt they lost a lot more in the EL than they do now
-
Probably not. I would imagine the whole operation is run on a shoestring.

Wallinger is a very lucky boy to escape serious injury, after a horrific looking crash on the island on Thursday evening.
-
Notifying fans, that's a new one on me!
-
I remember it well, I went to both legs!
-
Surely a successful cup run for the hammers would benefit the club, rather than hinder it.
-
How the lakeside management can pull the plug on a plum meeting like belle vue in the cup astounds me. This is one match you could promote with the likes of dan bewley riding. You might even get a decent crowd turn out to watch it.
-
Probably the latter. He was there last night, driving the tractor.

	it's on the BSPA website.

Not enough dates to compete in this seasons ko cup, apparently.
-
Not the best meeting at lakeside this season, but there were a few decent races. The crowd was poor again tonight, no doubt the dodgy weather didn't help.

My favourite track of all time. A living, breathing speedway museum, just like Hyde road. You could be a bit far from the racing if you stood on the bends, but the view from the main stand was superb despite the hard wooden seats. I bawled my eyes out at the last ever meeting, and felt no shame!

Poole Pirates Vs Somerset Rebels 26/07/17cityrebel replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League The track rode pretty well considering the state of it before the start. I thought both sides looked evenly matched, which just goes to show how weak poole are at the moment.

	Speedway is a bit iffy!
-
why bother to stage speedway at lakeside, the club is fast becoming a joke. Hardly any home meetings are run anyway, and now this.

King's Lynn Vs Wolverhampton 26/7/2017cityrebel replied to Star Lady's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League my post was tongue in cheek, honest!
