Mildenhall, really? Would not have guessed that - well, it would have been guess no. 19 probably. And all down to the Fen Tigers visits to Blantyre in the early '80's. Thanks for the questions. Good fun and brings back memories.

Always enjoyed visists to Smallmead, when sometimes it got a bit spicy on and off track and it provided one of my best memories in speedway: British League: 22 Oct 1984: Reading 32 v 46 Ipswich. No need to add anything else. Thank you Smallmead.

Ipswich didn't employ any guests from about 1974 onward. Like him or not, John Berry's stance on the use of guests was laudable,

How Far Do You Have To Travel?
Reviresco replied to Gresham's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
For regular 'home' matches, I started off with a 9 mile midweek round trip by bus in 1969, which changed to a 25 mile round trip by tube in 1972. Then changed to a 130 mile round trip in 1975, when I passed my driving test. In 1981, it became a 380 mile round trip (though admittedly not every week) which reduced to a 200 mile round trip every Saturday in 1982, before going back to a 130 mile midweek round trip in 1983. In the latter part of 1985 it was a 135 mile round trip on a Sunday, before a 240 mile round trip, again on Sundays, in 1986. After that, there were no longer any regular 'home track' visits. My 'home' track is now 13 miles away. The longest journey I have had to a speedway meeting was approximately 10,000 miles in 1981, with the meeting being postponed when I arrived and re-scheduled the next weekend. Maybe that's for another thread though. -
C'mon Dave. Time for the answer please to the track simply described as 'Ha Ha'. If it's not Station Road, because of my sunken wall analogy, it would be Derwent Park due to the views of the Lake District hills in the background (think we have almost guessed every track now).

Next due to ride for Coventry on Monday, unless he's got a Polish meeting on Sunday?

Alarmingly Low Crowds

"Prettily"? How do you know Scotsman is pretty? Despise is such a harsh word to use. It makes your post..... not just wrong, but irrelevant. If you think that was a correction, you are wrong again. That was a sensible, respected poster with something relevant to say, politely pointing out to you an error in your previous statement. Signal, mirror, then indicate is a good check before you manoeuvre your finger pointing digit to the 'POST' button. You know it makes sense. -
Try my best NEP. Chins up and spirits down the hatch. Best way. I can't see Ipswich winning any of those competitions - apart from maybe the 5-a-side under Baldyman's coaching and guidance, but they are all still there to go for... Thought Witches best chances this season were in both the Pairs and Four's, but not so sure now. Time will tell. When's Tyron Proctor due back in the UK again now? Oh yes, the 17th... too late for the KO Cup matches against the Rickets.

Another sensible post from Mr J - are you not feeling yourself at the moment? Oh, just re-read what I wrote, so maybe don't answer that . Yes, could've made a difference to the end scoreline, and maybe seeing DK scoring well would've inspired the other six a bit, but a Loss with a capital 'L', is still a Loss. The only way is up - hopefully. how is life in Jenga world? Gee, have the Comets really not got a home match between 23 April and 14 May? That's even more spread out than the Foxhall Fixtures. Ahh, LOD, that explains it, of course. If I ever play golf again, I will definitely not trust my Caddy now. Yes, Monsignor Castagna bambino did ok tonight. I am beginning to worry about his reserve partner though and may be starting my 'James Shanes In' campaign in a vigorous fashion soon - well, as vigorously as I can these days, which is more 'orous' without much 'vig'. I dinnae ken whit ye mean, pol. But I do think that Lewi Kerr would be better off on GMs rather than Jawas.

A definition of the word 'Form': - a mold, frame, or block in or on which something is shaped Well, it ain't shaping up too well, all the riders are in the frame and it is certainly going a bit mouldy. We've only just begun, NEP, and there is the KO Cup, Fours and Pairs plus the PL Riders Championship - if an Ipswich rider qualifies and never forget the 5-a-side soccer tournament at the 4's weekend - still plenty to play for as Jose Mourinho said after Chelsea's poor start to their season - and just look where he is now ..... Oh, he was sacked and is unemployed still, you say? Gulp. Thank goodness there are no Chairmen at Foxhall, otherwise CL and RH would not be sleeping well at night.

Could be the Witches best result of the season. Surprisingly I have a very eclectic taste in music - not sure what that means, but the first album I bought was T Rex's Eclectic Warrior. Boom, what a bit of vinyl that little beauty was. Ah, you have to try and have some fun - ir what's the point. we are all a long time in the soil - especially if you are a little sod like me. Knocking on a bit? I'll have you know, I haven't knocked into, onto or off anything today. My nurse is very impressed. I have some ideas about entertainment, but speedway without bikes to even it up a bit probably wouldn't be acceptable. Good on Bob for watering down his scotch with water this week. Maybe being able to see only two tracks rather than four, helped the track prep a bit. Get your clappers oiled up and ready for the 12th. At least the team won't have lost again before then - always look on the bright side mister - as The Killers would say.

Haha, where is he. He didn't go to the Moanarchs postponed match against Redcar did he? Not even a man from Inveresk would do that surely? Dare I ask what those circumstances are J? I have my own opinion.
-
Does he have a cunning plan, or is he just really poor / unlucky / badly advised when it comes to putting 1 to 7's together? (I still blame Mike Smillie)
-
So, you are into (or is that in to?) women with Tatts and freaky music? The bigger the Tatts the better, or are small Tatts good too? (I'm more of a pert behind kind of guy.) And you have a 'big thing' for goth, metal & emo chicks? Exactly how big is this 'big thing' and do you like ostrich chicks as much as emu ones? Would a girl with a tatt of an ostrich chick do it for you too? I can honestly say that the genres you mentioned - nu metal & metalcore, I've never heard of before. Gee, how out of date am I now?

Well done Rebs. It looks as if you are in for an entertaining and successful season. A very good 1 to 7 put together with potential to go 100% at home and grab loads of points away. Plus you have a decent race strip which adds to the show. Best not to comment on the Ipswich performance, but possibly that may be the last time that same 1 to 7 take to the track together. Will the Wyvern Win the silverWare this season?

Spot on S4K. Life is too short, a word my missus uses a lot about me for some reason.... If all posters had your attitude, the whole Forum would be a much more pleasant place at times. Half a shandy it will be then, if you are up for a chat at Central Park. Just surprised you have a job, you loafer .... .

It won't work (Just getting over the fact that you knew something about football, with Leicester City fans and their clangers clappers. And, I had to Google ash ash costello - but am none the wiser...)

Snap, 'HertsRacer'. I remember the start of Kevin's speedway career very clearly and followed his progress to West Ham, Exeter and then Poole. A very, very sad day when the news came through. Like losing a friend. (Can't get a direct link to the page, but if you follow the following link and then click on 'Riders' then 'Kevin Holden' and then 'Profile' there's a neat little write up on Kevin on Robert Knightley's excellent 'Romford Bombers' web-site): http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robert.knightley/ I'm not 100% sure, but I think that Kev won the last heat ever run at both Brooklands and Custom House - not in the meetings on those dates (30 Sep 1971 and 23 May 1972), but in the Second Half Finals. Thank you for starting this Thread 'Tracy Bird'. Brought back a lot of memories. Bless You Kevin, Gone But Never Ever Forgotten - RIP.

Snap. But I pay for BT Sport as well as Sky, so will just turn the TV on and tune into channel 413 and watch Northampton Saints v Bath Rugby followed by the SGP. I may be paying a fortune and I may not be techy, but I'll get to watch a professional sports broadcast (weather and track conditions permitting of course) with a decent picture quality. And I watch any Polish fixtures on the streams kindly provided by R&R and others on the Polish League thread. I'm happy with that. PS - great news that Sky Sports are broadcasting a couple of PL matches in June. I guess they know that Berwick has track covers...
