  1. I realise his last average was up on where he started and yes its not his fault we are losing, that is for sure mainly due to guests but I just looked at the ALL HOME matches this season 6. Danny Phillips - 1', 0, F/X, 0, 1, 0 = 2+1 6. Danny Phillips 1, 2, 0, 0, 0 = 3 6. Danny Phillips 0, 0, 0, 0 = 0 6. Danny Phillips : 1, (GM - F/X), F/X, 0, X, 0, F = 1 6. Danny Phillips (2.48) - 1,0,XM(GM-2).0,(GM-3) = 1 6. Danny Phillips - 1, 0, 0, 0 = 1 6. Danny Phillips (2.00) - R,0,0,(GM-1) = 0 6. Danny Phillips 1, 0, 0, F, (GM - 2*) = 1 Does he not like the track? Lack of confidence or is it machinary, something is definitely up 36 races 9 pts .... averages 1.00 !!
  2. First of all well done Lakeside. Reserves scores in the last 3 home matches 6. Danny Phillips - 1', 0, F/X, 0, 1, 0 = 2+1 ... he should know the home track by now and 1 of those points was in a 3 rider finish 7. Gino Manzares - 1, R, 1, F/X = 2 Peterborough loss 6. Danny Phillips 1, 2, 0, 0, 0 = 3 7. Jordan Stewart (G) 0, 0, 0, 0 = 0 Newcastle win.. 6. Danny Phillips 0, 0, 0, 0 = 0 7. Todd Kurtz (G) 1, 2', 1, 0, 2', 0 = 6+2 As shown against Peterborough and Lakeside you arent going to win many matches with reserves scoring like that, coupled with #1 guests scoring 6pts from 4 rides (Wright), 8 from 5 rides (schlein), 7 from 4 rides (Howarth)... sure Worral would have been hitting 10-12 pts at home. Still think we can reach the play offs but we need Worral back and even more important is for Neilsen to get fit soonest, having the reserves taking 2 of his rides when they are not scoring is killing us.
  3. Okay I have been pretty patient and not panicking but enough is enough, you can show loyalty and show blind loyalty, there is better out there in the national league. I didnt expect anything more that 2 pts from him but how we are at present with guests dropping points all over the place, we have a chance to do something. I dont know what average some of the riders step up into the CL from the NL but there is Flint, Kemp, Brennan etc who are winning races. Phillips isnt winning races even in the NL. No disrespect intended but another season in the NL will do him good, he is not ready for the chamionship yet.
  4. You cant judge riders on one meeting, this one or the British final. I wouldnt say Auty is better or worse than Garrity, I would say they both deserve a spot in the PL.
  5. First of all well done Peterborough, very solid and in Bacon you had a trump card. For Scunny, very dissapointing, the joys of guests eh, really hitting us hard with injuries and when you lose your strong reserve it leaves you very vulnerable. I was suprised they chose Stewart as he either rides well or very bad, we got the bad one. I am sure Kurtz would have been a better option, althgough he failed badly on his last guest visit too. I am starting to think that this season Phillips is not going to improve and is still a 6-7 pt NL rider, he is barely winning races in that league when there are better options in the NL from Kemp, Flint, Brennan, Wood etc is it worth blooding somebody else who is winning races regularly in the NL or do we stick with what we have? Anyway its still early in the season and many turns to come for the race to the play offs, enjoy your win Peterborough, we will try again some time soon
  6. Well i thought that both Sheff riders got a flyer in heat 14 but hey for me if you dont touch the tapes and are not rolling its not meant to matter now.
  7. I enjoyed the meeting if not the result, agreed there wasnt much passing BUT there was plenty of trying to pass and some close racing so that it is what made it good for me, normally at Sheffield it is a procession and boring like hell. Hey and im not trying to besmirch Sheffield, the facilities are great & fans are good
  8. Oh come on, thats Rob, he just jokes around, for certain Duffy knew he was joking about his mother. With regards to Damian Bates he was very respectful of Sheffield Speedway and it was an interesting question/answer, remember when Damian came back with "current champions", a good riposte. I for one and many others around me appreciate his comparing greatly. Rob wears his heart on his sleeve and sometimes says too much at times but I wasnt offended at all during the meeting. Shaun Leigh did fine at Scunny but I think Rob is much better for us as he has a vested interest. At Sheffield on the Thursday I could barely hear Shaun due to the quiet sound system.
  9. Cracking meeting, lots of passing thoughout, can only remember 2 races FTG. For Sheffield an honorable mention to Charles Wright he had some really close battles. Can see both these teams in the top 4 this season.
  10. Yep just decided, first trip to watch Speedway at Newcastle.... wouldnt have dreamed of doing this last year but finally we have a decent team and a chance, although we dont go well round Newcastle, you never know Oops just seen the weather forecast .... damn ... not worth risking it from North Lincolnshire
  11. Are you on a wind up or something? you're trying to vindicate the guy who did wrong by saying he was given incorrct advice but your ignoring the fact thet Rathbone wanted to do something dodgy and in fact did it. The advise was ill advised for sure but Rathbone was the main culprit.
  12. Most years we have had a dummy No.7 and wasted points, this year I couldnt give a monkeys who they have there. We've had riders who are meant to do well and get 0,0,0 so this year the last guy will have no pressure, the rest of the team can get the points.
  13. Think SCB is correct, sure the Worrals came from Moto-X
  14. For the Newcastle fans; Lambert & Lindgren were awesome, Lambert oozes skill and his machinery was top notch. Lindgren gated well and was willing to mix it up, he rode very well. 10 heats win and a deserved match win. For the Workington fans; Not sure if Scunny were dialed in for the 2nd meeting or the track settled down as there was much more passing. Apart from Jorgy, Proctor & Campton, your other 4 didn't turn up. 2 heat wins in the whole match says it all.
  15. Owlerton? you having a laugh.... for the last 3 years I have been about 6 times and bar none it has follow the leader out of bend 2 lap1. Before that was steady, andre etc who would blast around the outside on bend 4 but I havent seen that recently. Talk to squall & spinking about Owlerton the last couple of years. Regarding the Ben Fund, the track was set up as per the organisers wishes, it was not set up as per a normal scunny meeting. I'm not saying scunny is the best in the country as I havent been to all the tracks but after watching them week in, week out since they restarted I have seen some awesome meetings & races. I have also seen a couple of follow my leader matches but that is normally down to the weather and even in those meetings there is normally a couple of cracking races with multiple passes.
  16. Well not the start to the season we wanted at home, congratulations to Peterborough. I had a good moan before the meeting about the team balance and the lack of number 1 yet again but thought, ah what the heck lets see how we do. My opinion hasn't changed I still think we need a genuine number 1 & also we have one of the weakest reserves in the league with Bailey, nobody who stands around me can understand where this belief is coming from that he will make a top rider. He stayed on the white line throughout, made 2 points from gate 4 (which gave nearly all heat winners & 2nd places) and apart from that tootled along at the back. I don't know how many times Bacon has rode at Scunthorpe but he wasn't great at all .... until you compare him to Bailey who has already done half a season on our track, you would have though it was the opposite! Fritz had 3 falls, to go with his other load of falls at previous meetings but he is all action and we can forgive him that, but someone please have a word..... the race is 4 laps, you don't have to try and overtake every corner. I'm sorry Rob but last week with Campos & this week with Bailey is what is costing us. We have been through this so many times with one useless reserve e.g. Compton, Becker, Williamson, Bates, Armstrong etc ... we either give them experience (without points for us) or they are simply not good enough. Please sort this out soonest and get us a decent 2nd reserve, no more Campos bookings or guaranteed 000 reserves ... you want to lose supporters, this is the way to go.
  17. Pretty awful meeting, very processional most of the time, good hunt down by Berge in heat 4 though, cant remember much more of note. I couldn't see where scunny where going to get the win even though it was close score-wise until heat11 and with some strange reserve changes this wasn't helped... why put Wilky in for Kerr when he touched the tapes knowing full well he had 2 RR & 1 Widman ride to take, again not changing reserves in ht 6 when it was obvious Wilko wasn't going to beat Howarth/Lawson & again for heat 12/14, it was pretty obvious that Wilky could beat Stoneman but Sissis would have a good chance... anyway to be honest Sheffield would have won anyway. Will be a long time again until I go to Sheffield again, how your fans can put up with "from the gate" for most of the races is beyond me, might as well be a 1 lap race, the track seriously needs some dirt put on it. Anyway good luck Sheffield in the play offs.
  18. We are 3rd from bottom and have beat a patched up Newcastle and bottom of the table Redcar (with Bjerre looking like he wasn't even trying), we are 3rd from bottom and people want the same team?? I'm sorry but although I think most of them (max 5) should be retained, a hard hitting number 1 to me is a must or we are going to be a 40 pt team again. We all dream of these riders putting 2 pts on each of their averages but that never happens, I included fall into this trap but although I am much happier after the last few matches we have to get a sense of reality here, our end of season matches are mainly against the lower teams and wins appear better than they are. For the reserve berth i think Bailey did okay, to me though he hasn't come on through the season like I thought he would, in fact Jack Smith looks even better and I would like to see him or somebody like Shanes at reserve. Anyway just my thoughts on it.
  19. Wonder how much rob has to play with to replace the injured Alex Davies, currently showing a team average of 39.40 & alex davies average of 6.09, so i make that any rider of 9.19 or under? Could be wrong but that gives a lot of options... hope we dont go with an assessed 7.0pt scandinavian... nearly always end up as a 5 ptr there first season. Going to be an interesting week
  20. I see what your saying but if theyre all on song and up their averages, its makes us a 41 pt team instead of a 39.5pt team - stil behind the rest and the forever optimistic view that you and many others (including me!) have that Alex Davies will come good again .... its starting to wear a little thin. We do need stengthening, another heat leader to go with Auty & Douglas but unfortunately I dont think there are any out there or none we can afford. Anyway this season is done, its all about pride now, lets hope we can get some more wins.
  21. isnt that 39.4 team average Come on Rob, spend those 3 pts and get us a proper #1, would change the whole balance of the team... imagine facing some of the teams who are tracking 43-44 pt averages with our present team!
  22. Josh Auty 7.60 Ryan Douglas 7.05 Alex Davies 6.53 Carl Wilkinson 4.74 Zdenek Holub 3.0 Josh Bailey 3.0 this gives 31.75 and 10.75 pts for the final rider... are we really going to use this on a 7 pt assessed rider who will probably end up as a 5ptr? Although I dont want to see any rider lose there job, I would hope to see at least 2 changes to utilise the points available or get huge big hitter in the Stead/Cooke mould, not sure there is a budget or rider available that fits that scenario.
  23. Well I have to disagree with you outsider. I think we will end up with 3 reserve standard riders now in Bailey, Holub & Lyager, two of which are now in the main body .... with Wilko moving to reserve you could argue if he is on song he could take 7 rides but i think he will only be down there until the next set of averages. I really don't see where this optimism is coming for Lyager to score heavily, I remember seeing some very good foreign riders coming in and getting only a 6-7pt average in their first season... are we saying he is the same standard as Lasse Bjerre, Darcy Ward, Kenni Larsen etc when they first started? Anyway I hope you are right and if he is the rider brought in then I hope he is good and we do better as a team, I want to be entertained but I also would like to win, well at least the home meetings!
  24. I really hope this Lyager plan is put on hold for now, whats the use of using the points we get from Holub gaining a real average & using it on another guy who will average 4 pts from his assessed 7 ?? Doesn't make any sense to me at all, it has to be a real gem to get an assessed 7 ptr riding anywhere near that average in his first season. I would much prefer to see how much we have and use it all on the best rider Rob can afford, Andre Compton springs to mind as a rider who can make 6-7 pts home & away.
  25. I would like to see David Howe 7.29 Josh Auty 7.04 Ash Birks 5.68 (or Ricky Wells) Ryan Douglas 6.73 Thomas Jorgenson 6.84 Jack Holder 5.0 (or Wilko/Bunyan) Perks 3.0 Total 41.6 Please no Williamson he is no way good enough for the PL.
