  1. Every week???.....fraid not, no=one does ;-)
  2. totally agree, but don't think any system has ever achieved this, i mean Laguta was good but will he be in the same position as Tai next year? although great to see another new face in the pack; I do think we may get a shock if Harris doesn't make top 8, IMG may decide we only need an englishman as a cardiff wild card as they are unlikely to trouble the top 6 for some time yet, and to be honest would no english rider really hurt the Sky viewing figures??; and why does everyone think they won't go with 4 poles - there have been calls for yet another Polish track in the GPs, so why not 4 riders; as everyone says they are the ones calling the shots? From English viewpoint, Tai needs a year away from GPs and surely those that have tried and failed over many previous years Rico, Scott and Chris should stick to qualifying by right - if they did it might give them the confidence boost they need? Would probably liven up the British final considerably next year to be the only English rep on cardiff night! Time to back down and re-group as a speedway nation, build up confidence rather than destroy it by soul-destroying GP performances. And as a racers fan, it has been great to see Janusz starting to deliver the promise he showed why back in 2003 - sometimes riders need to take time to mature to really make their mark. Hope he does get a slot one way or the other (Freddie should perform a lot better in the GPs now that he is certain of next year's place, he can ride with freedom so should be interesting to see his response).
  3. Hey there swedish friends - some help needed please! We will be staying in Uppsala and Stockholm 31 Aug - 3 Sept, and want to take in some speedway, where are the tracks in stockholm? how far is Kumla from stockholm? looking at the Speedway Star at beginning of the year the 3 leagues are all riding that week but no teams known as depends on finishing position in league tables? however, if someone can tell me who rides and where in stockholm and where are other tracks within 50km of stockholm we would be truly grateful! In ideal world hoping to see speedway each evening tues, weds and thurs. Final ask - is there a direct train from uppsala or stockholm to any tracks outside these areas, or should we just hire a car? Appreciate any info, or direction to sites that can help Many thanks!
  4. Hi, I'm travelling with work to San Francisco next week and wondered if there was any track action in California taking place? If anyone has details of when, and where, love to hear fromk you, many thanks!
  5. It was by the starting gate where he hit the post if my memory serves me well at full pelt - many saying his bike was too powerful for a small track - lol; we went from top to bottom four by end of year
  6. he learnt that from the years of Ole guiding him round at Wolves - he was great with his big engine in 76, if he hadn't smashed his thigh i think he would have gone all the way. And he introduced Hans to wolves - one of my first fave riders, gr8 leathers!!
  7. or he could just focus on riding abroad = like Emil!
  8. I don't want to be morbid but Backtrack had some great articles on seriously injured riders, but what about an in memoriam section? I so want to know more about Gary Peterson who was my first fave rider as a Wolves fan, and reading the Bobby Mac piece with the Vic Harding/Steve Weatherley crash brought a tear to my eye - we really need a 'let us not forget section, so many great guys we lost in the 70s and 80s on track, we all need to remember the ultimate sacrifice given in our entertainment. It seemed that we lost 2-3 riders every year globally during the backtrack years - so, so sad, thank goodness for greater use of the air fence!! RIP Gary - still loved, and never forgotten, thanks for the memories!!
  9. Anyone know why Sam Simota not included in this meeting or the Czech GP???
  10. I went with my son a couple of weeks ago and got there around 4pm on a Saturday - we got a late entrance fee price of £7 each for the museum and the wildlife park - great way to spend a couple of hours before popping into Hoddesdon for a chinese and then onto Rye House - great day/evening out. We are Reading fans based in Woking and will be doing the same trip again very soon - my older son was really miffed as he wasn't able to make it!! And can I say what great memories the museum brought back I could have wallowed in there all day! Well done to all concerned - great job!!
  11. Would be really pleased to see a piece on Gary Peterson - he was my fave rider during my second season as a Wolves fan - and to lose him so soon after returning to Wolves was a real tragedy. Perhaps a 'we will remember them' section should be put in place in the mag?
  12. Interesting scores from Sweden for Reading fans - ROspigarna beat Kaparna 58-38, with 5 bulldogs on show - Jonas a 15pt max! Moose 7 +3; Greg 12+1; Janeusz 8 +1 and Matej (the one riding for Kaparna) 7+1, all had 5 rides
