Back in the day when people were questioning why the Brits were no good on the world stage an argument was that they had it too easy at home, when BL ruled the roost. I think you could probably use the same argument for the Poles, they have it very easy at home with the big pay packets and adulation. I don't think it's any coincidence that the Brits have come on so much now that none of them ride in Britain. It's akin to living at home with your mum doing all you cooking and cleaning and when you get your own place you have to man-up a bit. That's why I think Magic should ditch riding in Poland if he has aspirations of becoming World Champion, he has it far too easy rolling up to Wroclaw every week in his luxury car, going through the motions and leaving with a boot full of Zlotys

UK speedway slowly dying
IainB replied to old bob at herne bay's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
It'd be like saying most people attending Cardiff this year will be because Max Fricke and Jason Doyle (plus British Championship qualifier) are riding in it. -

You say that, but is the lure the team for most of us? I don't know... the biggest attended meetings I've been to have been individual meetings, World Finals, British Finals, BLRC's, WC Qualifiers, Golden Hammer etc. The only team meeting that comes close to some of those attendances in the past (during my time following Speedway) was the Cov v Hull decider double header. The following of a team probably led to the following of a rider for that team, that has completely gone now thanks to doubling up, which if memory serves me was originally brought in to help progress British youngsters. -

I can't quite believe what I've just read there... when somebody does suggest something to try and entice people along to watch Speedway, people like you actually throw every imaginable hurdle in the way as to why not to do it. I suggested that Birmingham should have run some kind of Commonwealth Riders Championship meeting (an absolute no brainer) to cash in on the games being held down the road, with the athletes village on the doorstep and you were quite rude to me about it on the Brummies thread... and you've only been 4 times this season, unbelievable! -
I remember them doing a similar offer during the previous year also when it was called Eurosport Player. So it looks like it maybe a regular offer. If you use something like HotUKDeals you can setup an alert so that if/when it happens again and somebody posts the offer you'll know about it.

I think generally it's £60 a year, though if you get it at the right time of year, I got mine for £30. I think you may be able to get it for around £7 per month

There HAS been some decent Speedway racing tonight, with a close scoreline... I would have hated to have turned off after heat 6

I quite rate Flint, like his attitude and his riding style reminds me of Leigh Adams a bit
