  1. Now I don't want to be a negative Nancy and nothing would please me more than the return of Speedway to Brandon but unless the campaign are privy to some information that's not being released I'm not quite sure what this latest outburst of unbridled optimism is all about? If they're pinning their hopes on the addition of that paragraph in the Local Plan then I wouldn't get too excited about it as the shenanigans at Peterborough prove that the Local Plan isn't worth the paper it's written on! As somebody else has commented unless there's a compulsory purchase order made on the stadium BE still hold all the cards as they can just sit on their plans (whatever they are) and wait for the council to change at some point in the future. I'm not sure we're any further on than we were this time last year, correct me if I'm wrong. Still... get your emails in folks it certainly can't hurt.
  2. BetGoodwin Oxford Spires: Rohan Tungate, Erik Riss, Charles Wright (C), Peter Kildemand, Tom Brennan (G), Francis Gusts, Luke Killeen (RS). Watling JCB Leicester Lions: Max Fricke (C), Luke Becker, Ryan Douglas, Kyle Howarth, Sam Masters, Drew Kemp, Sam Hagon (RS). Oxford still have Hagon for Leicester in their bang up to the minute website! I have a dilemma with this one, the weather looks well dodge, there's no Magic and Oxford expect me to pay £2 extra to buy a ticket on the day... it's not really enticing me to make the trip tbh.
  3. I did say some... and Sam Hagon is certainly no Emil Sayfutidinov (yet). It's essential to be making starts at both of these tracks and Sam just wasn't with the others out of the starts... even when he occasionally was, he was soon passed.
  4. The sport needs his dad ('s sponsorship )
  5. Amidst all the gushing about my trip to Scunny yesterday I almost forgot to mention what a complete shambles the presentation was... first of all there was a new centre green announcer who was given the big introduction by Rob Godfrey of "I'm sure he'll make some mistakes so bear with him", just the boost I'm sure he was looking for! Then we were treated to said Presenter being inaudible throughout the whole meeting with his mic continually cutting out. And the TV Tunes of the 80's race build up music often being played during racing, in fact the music during the whole meeting was being played at such a distotedly high volume that it probably blew the windows out of houses several miles away!
  6. Don't think so, I could be wrong though, one of your Poole lot will know 😁
  7. He won't be taking his dads money then? We can all see he's no ordinary kid, his dad has bought a club, presumably with a view to him riding for it only for him to come out with that crap! He's probably on top notch gear and he's also got rent-a-Greg coaching him... that's hardly doing it on your own.
  8. I also think Leicester is quite a peculiar track and takes quite some mastering even from some of the more experienced riders, so bringing in these riders with little to no experience of it is not helping. To have a Cubs/Fox's team and not be developing through that is a big mistake, the club seems to have alienated the 2 best riders from that system in the Thompsen's and Cairns inexplicably wants to plough his furrow elsewhere. The club made a big thing about the signings of Mountain & Perry, they don't even seemingly come into the equation. Mr Dickson seems to like to wear his ruthlessness as a badge of honour and has mentioned that he's not afraid to make a change a number of times in the media... how about just getting it right from the start? 🤔
  9. I agree with point 2... but not point 1, based on last years performances alone he should not have been back. Mr Dickson seems to have a merry go round of the same riders, it'll probably be only a matter of time before Kemp is dropped (for the umpteenth time) and another one is the old faces will be in, Batch any one?
  10. The Berwick side of the pits is going to be a real barrel of laughs with Stewart Dickson, Craig Cook and Sam Hagon in it... throw in Drew Kemp when he gets his inevitable binning later in the season and they're going to need another team building day on the go karts 😉😂
  11. Another lamb to the slaughter. So that's 2 changes already, neither of whom should have been in the starting line up.
  12. Thanks for coming back to me with that @Triple.H., much appreciated 👍. Should be do-able, hopefully I won't end up sprinting back to the car 🏃‍♂️
  13. It took some doing but you managed to squeeze it in there... ooer missus
  14. It's certainly a test of commitment isn't it... can't be easy for any southern based (younger) riders with only 2 Southern clubs in the CL to make it pay or not suffer substantial losses.
  15. It's sink or swim with a lead weight tied around your ankles though. It's okay having protected heats but there's no restrictions around the rest of the team, except for number 1 and number 6, so a team could have their 2nd best averaged rider riding at number 2 to have the easy pickings of the rising star... Becker, King, Jeppesen, Blodorn, Klindt & Rowe. But it could just add easily be Masters, Sayfutdinov, Zagar, Bewley, Iversen & Chris Holder. Add to that they can be pulled out of their 4th ride and it's no real protection at all.
  16. Seems strange that Berwick in the CL is too far but Scuntfield in the NL isn't. Maybe he's waiting to pick up a CL team spot later when somebody inevitably gets injured?
  17. I think if they can manage consistent close home wins that'll probably do them... unfortunately for them they've got the mighty Lions next 🦁
  18. I did go in the end as the BSN meeting was called off and I'm pretty glad I did tbh. Like @Mr Bee said the meeting was run at decent pace, which was refreshing. Can't help but think that Redcar threw this away with all their mechanical shenanigans. What on earth Mulford was doing changing his bike for a 2nd time with the clock at about 10 seconds was a bit of a head scratcher. The junior match was pretty decent too, certainly better than some of the crap I've seen at Leicester! Although there was quite a disparity in the quality of riders. Correct me if I'm wrong but are Ablitt and McGurk not riding CL at the moment? Ideal candidates for a CL rising star berth... if it existed. Cooper Rushen was impressive, especially considering it was his 2nd meeting of the day... he certainly has the name to be a top star in Speedway!
  19. In most sports you have to be good enough, irrespective of age... except in British Speedway where it doesn't matter how good you are as long as you meet the Rising Star age criteria. These "protected" age/performance related team spots should be in the CL and not the PL imo. The whole progression system in British Speedway needs a re-write. There are a lot of decent kids out there but they just seem to get put through the meat grinder.
  20. Ryan Douglas testimonial date. They announced the announcement last night 😂
  21. For all of the uptick in social media activity by clubs, which is to be applauded, it seems to have come at the expense of website updates for many.
  22. No post match reaction from Mr Dickson, either at the track or on the website... poor from Leicester.
