It'd be very sad if that were the case, maybe Speedway first bends just aren't for him, they can be brutal and not really comparable to many other motor sports.

It's not recent though, he was identified as doing it at the end of last year. When he shuts off going into the first bend he was invariably last he was shutting off so much, not even 2nd or 3rd and then proceeded to be the whole length of a straight behind the riders in front. Now that's okay if he wants to be the next Jack Smith or Connor Coles but if he's the next messiah as some are predicting he ain't going to get anywhere with that approach to his Speedway. His end of season form has been as bizarre as anything I've seen from a rider that I can ever recall.

He's had a solid enough first full year in the CL & PL and has taken some big scalps... he seems to have developed a case of the Speedway yips with first bends at the end of the season though which must be a massive worry for anybody that he's signed for for next season. Reading back through some of the comments from a while back this has been an issue before now.

Boughen worryingly shutting of going into the first bend again in his first ride. Fortunately it's the end of the season but he'll need to eradicate that from his game in the future.

Something to do with planning permission we're led to believe

Traditionally I've taken tracks that have been described as "technical" to mean, Eastbourne, Arena, Wolves, Rye House etc. Where you really have to back the bike in almost to a stand still. To a lesser extent the likes of Leicester, Coventry, Ippo, Swindon, Glasgow, Poole etc. Then there's where you pin the throttle tracks like the NSS, Sheffield, Peterborough, Somerset and the worst track of the lot Scunny! That's not to say that these tracks aren't without their nuances.

Nicholls home average at Kirky Lane in 2015 was 7.20 his home average at the NSS in 2016 was 5.61
