  1. I know at Leicester we have a race in the memory of Roger Webster, who I think was quite a benefactor to the club and many young riders. not just at Leicester, I think the majority are for local businesses though, I'll pay closer attention in the future.
  2. I've said it before, it's easier than ever to have fan involvement with the "free" technology we have these days yet many tracks do absolutely nothing or very little during a meeting. Tracks should have an online presenter during a meeting on Facebook live (or similar) giving rider interviews and coverage from the pits and other interaction with fan polls, competitions and opinion etc. At Leicester all we get is the offer of a signed programme board if we make an Insta post and that's more than most do! Until Speedway is brought dragging and kicking into the 2020's it'll continue to be "happy 90th birthday to Elsie" and centre green presenters having one way "conversations" with the crowd while the tractors are endlessly drone around the track.
  3. Some good action last night and quite a comeback from the Lions, still can't get over Steady not picking Chris Holder for heat 15! There was some real harum-scarum stuff with riders seeming to have to go so wide to get any grip they'd often lose control, I don't know when Sheffield became like this. Lions may have snook this if Mr Cook had kept his Cookie Monster in his trousers ... but a draw seemed a fair result with Vuolas being and adequate replacement. On the drive in I saw a giant electric billboard advertising Sheffield Tigers, so kudos for that... Also, I don't really pay much attention to the heat sponsors when they're read out during a meeting but every time it registered with me last night the race was always in loving memory of somebody, it was like attending a memorial meeting!
  4. Well, he certainly turned that around fair play to the lad. What on earth Steady was up to putting Picko in 15 is completely baffling though!
  5. Looking at Fricke's record around Owlerton it's a bit feast or famine, so far tonight it looks like it's another famine!
  6. Depends on whether they break them with the tips of their helmets!
  7. Just listened to it! Unbelievable! What the actual flip are the management doing at Brum in between races? There's almost as many managers as riders and not one of them could think of informing the riders of the score situation!
  8. I do wish these Speedway riders would time their intercourse better with their calendars
  9. What's happened to Cook? I'm sure he was named on the website when I looked last night... the text above the line-up still states "But their initial job comes in South Yorkshire where manager Stewart Dickson names an unchanged team and riding order to face the Tigers."
  10. He buggered off 7 years ago when the money dried up!
  11. If the doggies are back at Perry Barr the Speedway will also
  12. It all seems a bit nicey nicey when you hear the brum management speak, it looks to me as if the Birmingham team need locking in the dressing room and somebody to start kicking some arses and get the paint peeling off of the walls! They're starting to rehash the same old excuses, setups, track conditions etc. Good news to hear the Brummies will be back next year, subject to the doggies... they should stick one on a bike, couldn't do any worse: https://x.com/UprightSpeedway/status/1815316673710145935?s=19
  13. Belle Vue were involved in a boring match at Leicester and now at Birmingham... the common denominator?
  14. No disrespect to Jake Mulford but Flint should not be getting done by him on his own 5h1t heap!
  15. Is this the longest parade in Speedway history? Are they stalling for time?
  16. ... calling everybody an idiot and suggesting they find something else to do?
  17. Speaking as a Leicester fan, I've been to all PL tracks this season as a Lions fan and also occasionally as a neutral, with the exception of King's Lynn, for obvious reasons! For the quality of the racing I've seen Belle Vue is a given, surprisingly the next best has been Oxford!
  18. Is it possible to make it from the Sprint Race in Cardiff to Oxford on Friday night I wonder?
  19. Prior to heat 11 it was all pretty much done and dusted by the entry to turn 3 on lap 1, there was some good stuff in those opening 2 bends and 1 straight but it was all pretty much follow the leader stuff after that, until heat 11. Heat 11 and 13 were pretty good races not much else beyond that. Glad you enjoyed it though. A solid performance from the Lions though and with Oxford seemingly having given up on the play offs we may well sneak in 4th place. If we can stay injury free, unlike Sheffield and Ippo, who knows it could well be a Leicester vs Belle Vue final!
  20. Thanks, read this earlier https://gbspeedwayteam.com/news/european-preview-31 Which indicated he could possibly have ridden. I assume the same concussion rules apply no matter what country a concussion injury was received?
  21. What a performance by Joe Thompson! You can see his experience of riding Leicester being used around Armadale. If Ben Barker had performed anything like he should have done Berwick may well have got something out of this.
  22. It'll be interesting to see if he rides in Poland over the weekend. I thought I heard he was knocked out in his spill, I could have heard wrong though.
