  1. Speedway people and Speedway friends will always be around if the good times dry up, but will ' celebs ' stick around though ?
  2. Careful what you say Dave the Mic about generalisation's,lol. Some people on here tend to take what's been posted and completely twist it or put their slant on things because they can't see past their starry eyes for their beloved heart throb rider. But why let the truth get in the way eh. Agree totally with what you say about the comparison.I never liked Kenny Carter but he was never a dirty or underhanded rider in any way.He was a very good rider but i didn't care for his attitude [ much like Pedersen's ] the way he built up and thrived on the ' I hate Yanks ' thing and when he came out and boasted ' I'm England's Number One ' that did it for me [ Even if he was England's No.1 or not ] People thrive on different things to spur them on,it's human nature and we're all different. You pick your poison. Some like Nicki and some don't like Nicki [ notice i didn't say Hate - it's only people that speak or type before really thinking that believe this ] I don't think peoples attitudes will change, they didn't with KC and they won't with NP.
  3. Agreed rickmiller. I was thinking last night Nicki Pedersen has polarised and split opinions about him like no one else has since Kenny Carter. I seem to remember some of the other riders ganging up on Carter at Coventry once in the British Final. So many similarities.Carter didn't go around being a danger to the other riders but he certainly knew how to p**s people off.
  4. OK - Who is it this time posting under a different name ?????? Answers on the back of a matchbox please
  5. Too right. That's why i like Havvy.Years ago i wasn't keen on Tomasz Gollob [ maybe for ALMOST the same reasons i'm not too keen on NP ] but now i actually like Tomasz. He's more controlled on the bike now even if some of the incredible moves he pulls off other riders could never do.Maybe he's changed. He even gave two interviews in English to Greenie at Cardiff one at a crucial moment before a big race when he was warming the bike up.Maybe he feels more an elder statesman or ' one of the old guard ' Billy Hamill was talking about on Saturday and feels it's his place to speak up.Either way ' Good on ya Tomasz '
  6. I really hope you are right Brightonbob.Floppy has gained one new fan anyway.Me !
  7. Just wait till you hear the commentary when Norris beat Rickardsson.Nigel Pearson was going beserk , so much he sounded just like a Dalek Agreed though David Norris was a Hero last night.
  8. Sorry i haven't done this before now but it doesn't look like anyone else has either [ personally been too preoccupied with the antics of Hans ' don't mess with me ' Andersen ] But i'd like to say.WELL DONE DAVID NORRIS. I thought he was brilliant. He never looked out of place in a top Grand Prix mixing it with the world's best and to beat the likes of Tomasz Gollob and Tony Rickardsson.Fantastic.In the interview he said he just wanted to make his family and friends proud.Well if i was family or friend i would be bursting with pride mate.Just one race away from a semi final place. Can't wait for the World Team Cup to come around,if we can steer clear of injuries Team GB can give it some hammer !!!!
  9. Oh come off it.I notice most of the people sticking up for Andersen are either fans of his team or teams he's ridden for recently [ ie: Poole ] I'm not a fan of either rider, just neutral. It never ceases to amaze me how biased some folks on here are.
  10. Well i've read through the posts and in the cold light of day when i've calmed down i thought i'd re-wind the tape and watch that race again. I'm even more convinced it was a dirty move than before. This time i listened to Andersen talking to the ref.He says " He done exactly the same to me on the lap before but i stayed on the bike " WRONG. At the end of the second lap Holta passes Andersen up the inside [ incidentally Pearson says at this point they touched - it looks like they do from the outside because Andersen momentarily loses control for a split second - but if you watch the slow motion replay from the centre green you can see they don't touch and Andersen has plenty of room infact ] Then on the third lap Andersen dives into the side of Holta completely skittling him and taking his leg away [ Done the same to me last lap ????????????? ] Yes true Holta got off the bike.If he hadn't he'd have been sat in row 15.Andersen went in that hard he almost missed the corner and nearly ended up in the air fence himself on the fourth bend.Again, watch his line after Holta falls. As for people suggesting Holta got off the bike for a re-run.That,s unbelievable. The guys riding with neck and back injuries would he step off the bike at 60 mph and take that impact to get a re-run ? If you think so i suggest you get on a bike and try it yourself then, see how much fun it is then.I think Andersens comments after the race show he thought he'd been ridden hard and he took retribution himself. This is why i personally think it was worse then Pedersens assault on Greg Hancock.Greg's crash looked a lot worse but THIS was more premeditated than Pedersens in my opinion.I think certain riders now are taking liberties and not showing any respect to their fellow racers, and it's coming out more in the GP's.Personally i think it's because of the air fences,i'm not against them,i think they should be installed at EVERY track but there seems to be more and more of this throwing the back wheel out stuff.Riders are doing stuff they wouldn't do at tracks like Exeter and Sheffield with no air fence.I think there should be a penalty system where if a certain rider is involved in say 3 incidents where he's been shown to be at blame then he gets sat down for 2 or 3 GP's.And to the people that say ' thats racing' not in my book it isn't.It's crossing the line.I watch Moto GP too different discipline i know but anyone who wants to see what racing is, get a tape of last weeks race at Mugello. The first 6 or 7 riders dicing within inches, swopping fairing paint, outbraking each other all in pouring rain and on slick tyres at 190 mph.And despite all this no one knocked anyone off.THATS RACIN !
  11. Who said a while ago we should have a ' Stupid Posting of the month Award ' ? Well my vote goes to this one.Are you drunk pal ?????????
  12. Garf for once please take those red and white tinted sunglasses off.You always defend anything Danish to the hilt. Can't you admit for once that a Danish rider may just do something a little bit naughty once in a while ??? I'm not having a go at the Danes , just Hans Andersen. The commentator said to Billy Hamill after the race , " As that race was developing you could see something happening ", and Billy agreed. I think that was being how shall we say very very diplomatic. Hans is getting a reputation if he actually hasn't had one for a while.Even as he lined up for his first race Gary Havelock said in Fanzone " Hans Andersen now he's not averse to turning right at the first corner ". Riders know.
  13. What a dirty rider Hans Andersen is.He went for Rune Holta and clean took him off.I think his after race comments showed his guilt when he said " Yeah, he did me on the previous lap " Any other comments about " It's a democracy now , riders just step off the bike for a re - run " showed what a prat he is.I'm sure Rune Holta stepped off the bike going into the bend at 50 mph plus and took that impact for fun.He gave him the back wheel in revenge for the previous lap move by Holta.Difference was Holta's move was hard but fair.Andersens was disgusting and dirty. Not the first time though.
  14. Tony Steele is not as good a referee as some people on here seem to think. Why do they sing his praises so much ? Something to do with ' well at least he's British, not like those foreign refs and as for that Hungarian' or is it because we have no World Class riders capable of winning the World title at the moment ??? So at least we have the top ref.Well i don't see it at all. This is the man who made a monumental cock up in 2000, costing Rickardsson the title that year and saturday was the worst display of ineptitude i've seen for a long while. The GP's should be shared out more fairly, or can't the powers that be find 7 or 8 refs in the world up to the job ? Sorry state if that's the case.
  15. Good GP.Good racing.Good track.Crap ref. I found a couple of his decisions mind boggling, the Crump one when he fell on his own at the back and should have been excluded and the second Rickardsson one [ semi final ] The one with Hancock was a bit naughty but could be called as first bend bunching so fair enough. However the one with Gollob was pathetic. It was almost on the back straight for god's sake and Rickardsson SHOULD have been excluded.I've watched it several times and each time i see it i'm more convinced.Gollob just had his front wheel taken away.Tony Steele deffinately bottled it.I had a theory and i'm glad someone helped clear it up earlier.I thought some time in the past Steele had wrong done Rickardsson somewhere and i was right.I think he probably let this cloud his judgement. This guy gets far too many GP's.Is he the only ref [ capable ????? ] of taking a GP. Come on.He's getting too familiar and it's a bad thing him doing so many GP's.He went down massively in my estimation tonight. As for the coments of Louis and Ermolenko they don't sway me.They only have an opinion like the rest of us and these two guys are so stuck on that fence they must have very sore bottoms [ nearly said something else but it's a family forum ] One day one of them may have a slightly controversial opinion but i wouldn't bank on it.Louis especially makes me cringe when he tries to wriggle out of something as shocking as rooting for a team or rider [ " Er no i er didn't say i wanted them to win " - " Well you did off air Chris " ! ].So to sum it up good meeting ,good racing, quite a few shocks, tapes should have been sorted out earlier, Ref bottled it. And before anyone from Poole accuses me of being a Rickardsson hater.Wrong.I shout for him and the British riders in each GP.[ Hancock too sometimes if he gets to the final ] I want to see him win the title again this year and go on and beat Maugers record. So you see i am not biased, just an honest opinion which we are all entitled to.
  16. # 55 Randy Green for sure # 58 Neil Collins not as sure !
  17. Has anyone seen the new Speedway Magazine that's just come out called Backtrack ? Got the first issue at Sheffield last week and it's absolutely superb.First issue is only £1 but i don't know what it costs from issue 2 on.It's the same size as Speedway Star, 40 glossy pages, all black and white. Some really interesting stuff in the first issue.Penhall interview,Wembley World Final 81,Ipswich team 1975,Hull at the Boulevard,Les Owen,Cyril Maidment,Craig Pendlebury, Romford Bombers,Brian Collins,Howard Cole,Hackney Hawks,Sunderland,John Langfield,CVS.There's a website but i haven't checked it out yet www.retro-speedway.com If anyones interested i can give the address for subscriptions or if you just want the first issue to judge it yourself. You won't be disappointed, and no i don't have anything to do with anyone connected with the publication, lol.Things like this deserve our full support.
  18. I'm a Rickardsson fan and i want to see him beat Mauger's record but well done to Nicki Pedersen and he THOROUGHLY DESERVED IT last night. You could see from the parade he was far more relaxed than Crump.Crump looked like a startled rabbit in the headlights,if you don't believe me check back at the video. Also to get back up from that crash and ride even better was fantastic.Ref got every decision right apart from the final.Jonsson should not have been excluded in my opinion it should have been all 4 back. Nice to see Greg Hancock win the final GP too. All round very satisfying apart from unlucky Jonsson.
  19. Before the competition the moaners were out saying 'Britain have no chance with that team ' Ok we got a crap start, very crap. But they battled back and with 8 or so races left could have finished 3rd, maybe even 2nd with a bit of luck. Considering the circumstances i think that's not bad.Not because i settle for 2nd [ 1st loser] 3rd [ 2nd loser ] etc etc. What i can't understand is some peoples attitudes to their own country.Ok they may not like Gary Havelock because they don't like what he says or he wears funny shirts or whatever. That doesn't mean they have to shout for another damn country because a certain rider or two happen to ride for their team.Maybe THAT'S the real British desease. The only time i was shouting for anyone else in this World Cup was the last 2 races for Ljung and Karlsson, because i preferred Sweden to win than the Aussies again. One thing you CAN say though about Aussies and Americans for that matter. They get behind their country of birth 100% every time.
  20. Well done Team GB. No one could have asked for more. You'd have to be blind to not see that all the lads applied themselves 100% and thats all anyone can ask for. Ok we didn't win it, i thought we were in with a chance, and it proves we were with the weakened Swedes winning it , but the track was abysmal and a lottery. The lads did everyone proud.NEXT YEAR LETS BLOW THEM AUSSIES AWAY [ like Sweden did ]
  21. Well done Sweden, for me the biggest shock in 25 years of Speedway but totally deserved, i thought they did well to finish in front of the Czechs without Tony but to go and win it all...Awesome. I'm also well chuffed the Aussies didn't win.Did they choke at the end or get complacent ?.Looking at Jason Crump in the pits with about 6 or 7 races to go he looked mega confident, can't believe how it all evaporated. Sweden were a team, whereas Australia were carrying a passenger in Jason Lyons who looked a danger to himself and everyone else in his first 3, then he looked totally uninterested in his last 2,trailing in half a lap behind.Well done SVERIGE !!!!!!!!!!
  22. Stand down ??? NO WAY. Why should he ? Middlo was proven right with the team selection and the team spirit was superb.Everyone seemed to get on great guns and they did themselves and us proud, i can't see anyone else that would have done a better job on or off track. Some of the youngsters mentioned are great riders and their time will come, but a couple of them aren't the greatest gaters in the world and i think they would have struggled a lot on those slick tracks.Middlo's doing a good job.
  23. I've been thinking theres only going to be one winner,Australia :x However........ Them Danes look pretty damn good. If Denmark don't win it this year i think they will next year. They have the basis for coming back and dominating speedway again like they did a few years ago, some good young riders. So Australia to win,if Sullivan is fit enough that is.But for me it wouldn't be a big shock if Denmark won at all. 1st : Australia [Praps ? ] 2nd: Denmark [ Maybees ? ] 3rd: Sweden 4th: Poland 5th: Great Britain. Good Luck to the GB boys, i'm sure they all give it their best shot whatever.
