hi yes that right it was lew i think we were riding on the friday at weymouth when we got to know about his crash that happened on the thursday night at sheffield no mobile,s in those days there was a great bunch that used to ride at weymouth in 1962-64 weymouth v new cross b, exeter b, rye house b, and many open meetings promotor was john pilblad with his mate mr lush, wessex did you go and watch in those days i think ray wickett was at the same meeting as lew and he came back to ride at weymouth on the friday and i remember him telling me he had to get some points money that night or he had no money for petrol to get back home

hi i remember chris well we allways remember the night he came out of the first bend and ended up flying through the air and hitting one of the light posts a few feet above the safty fence it went very quiet i cant remember if he was hurt or not ,not sure of the year62-65 perhaps somebody else can, also what about ray wickett another in the same mould, graham locke

sad to here the passing of phil i was lucky to be at poole i think it was in the late 50s and got phils,ove,billy bales autograph on the same night i seem to remember they had all travelled together that night any one no different!!!
