Mildenhall V Buxton - National League
2ndbendpostie replied to PhilK's topic in National League Speedway
Taken from the Mildenhall Fen Tigers website, this is the Buxton side for Sunday, looks a good side cannott really understand why they have not done better this season so far. Buxton Hitmen 1. Ben Taylor 2. Dean Felton 3. Luke Priest 4. Adam Allott 5. Robert Branford 6. Paul Burnett 7. Ryan Blacklock -
Must admit I didnt see this coming, shame to lose James but good luck to him back in the premier league I hope it goes very well for him. But I think the balance already looks better, and Jack will do a fine No1 job no doubt about that, Mark will probably be a bit rusty, but wont want to be upstaged by his brother so will be giving it 100%. Sanity appears to have prevailed at the BSPA with young Cameron, but folks lets remember he is only 15, and he has not ridden a league race yet, so let him settle in and not expect too much too soon, but I cannott hide my pleasure of seeing such a reserve pairing with him and Joe Jacobs. So top weather forecast for Sunday should be a big crowd again at West Row for this one, just one query, now that James is'nt riding for us, will the start time go back to its normal time of 4-30 ?.

Or possibly just to stir it a little bit more as you have quite a bit on this thread ?
-
Not bothering to argue anymore about Brits and non Brits with you as we are obviously miles apart and we will never agree on it, but, if the football championship had used your rules, then Norwich City wouldnt be in the premiership as the goal that put them there was scored by a Canadian ! I can only hope next years agm, looks at this issue long hard and proffesionally as to my mind and many others on here, (including Jayne which suprised me a bit) it is wrong.
-
guess what malcolm, we disagree again !, couldnt give a monkeys where anyone was born, just give us the best riders for OUR hard earned cash, stop being a NL snob and think of the paying public for once instead of your own ego.
-
Has anybody ever seen Proud Potter and roguetrader in the same room at the same time ????????????????????????????, this last post seems so much different to his previous offerings, its got me wondering !
-
At last something on this thread thats vaguely sensible, however, as the NL and PL dont even attend the same AGM, I am not holding my breath !
-
Meanwhile back in the land of sanity ! I was busy in the chip queue yesterday whilst Cameron wass being interviewed, but did I hear him say the bikes he is using are ex shane parker ?, or was that my poor old ears playing tricks on me ?
-
Yes and yes !

An excellent reply Carol Just to say, having seen the lad do 8 laps this afternoon after the meeting, i can see why so many people are predicting big things for this young man. And again I repeat anyone who improves the league is welcome to ride in it in my opinion, partisan rules do nothing to improve the leagues standard.
-
Thanks for that, just about to leave, hopefully a good meeting, finishing with a good tigers win.
-
Still nothing on the James Brundle replacent ?
-
I was going to reply, but I see HalifaxTiger has already written exactly how I feel as well, Without Ipswich then Mildenhall would probably not be running this season, so I for one find your knocking of Ipswich well out of order. And for the record no I am not an Ipswich supporter eithier, how could I be, being a carrow road faithfull !
-
Should that not read if "Mr Louis wanted", my only contribution is £20 a week for me and the missus to watch at Mildenhall,we cannott afford to go to Ipswich as well. What goes on between promotors and riders is none of my business. I only made the observation what a good piece of business it was, as many seem to miss the point that promotors must run it as a business.
-
Would I be right in thinking Jacobs could get two rides as r/r, one normal and one as a reserve switch ?, or have the rules changed since I saw that done a few seasons ago. ?
-
He certainly would, as would Jon Armstrong, but if push came to shove, I think using rider replacement would not be such a bad alternative, I,ve got plenty of confidence in our own riders to cover for James.
-
Now you see from where I am sitting that is damn good business sense and I see nothing wrong with unseemly haste when there is a quid to be made, speedway promotors should be no different to any other entertainment promotor, and they will have bills to pay like anyone else, so bloody good luck to Ipswich if you are correct in your assumption.

Not having had any experience of employing people from overseas, is the thing here mainly about age then, and say a lad of 18 from another country wanted to ride in the National lewague then would it be no problem ?. Just a bit confused as in a modern day world where phrases like "restriction of trade" have been used when its been suggested football teams be limited to x amount of foreign players in their sides. Also would the speedway rules be watertight regarding this in a court of law ? Just curious as obviously having flown all the way over from Australia someone somewhere must be pretty sure of themselves of his eligibility. As far as I am concerned if any league team gets exciting riders from anywhere its ok with me, speedway is an entertainment and as such needs the best riders available to bring in the crowds, and not ones who just happen to British. Giving places to Brits "just because" actually can make them less competetive because the numbers of good riders is much less than the number of team places available, allow Johnny Foreigner in and suddenly the others have to up their game or lose there place.

In fact we were two of those who came back because of Poole, We had stopped going to the meetings as there seemed little to enjoy or cheer that season, hearing about him got us back for the rest of that season.
-
Well we are both happy then !, I get my what I want at my home meetings and you get what you want at your home meetings. As for for forgiving you, of course I will.
-
Well you can disagree with me as well ! Mildenhall have 6 british riders in thier side and as a paying customer every week (which I am guessing you are not) I am more than happy to see an up and coming aussie as the 7th member, if he is anywhere near the rider that Dakota North and Taylor Poole have been in previous seasons then he will add to the entertainment and also to the crowd numbers. Very idealistic to want all British riders in the NL, but 1) there aint enough good ones, 2)in a multi cultural society that we live in then it aint ethically correct and for all I know possibly not even legal to discriminate on the grounds of country of birth, 3)as paying customers we want to see the best we can for our hard earnt cash. This is of course assuming he is eligible ! Which I have absolutely no idea about,I am sure that sooner or later a decision will be made, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Difficult to find anything new to add to the above comments, agree with the general views of everyone regarding, Lewis, Joe and Nick, I would also add that Aaron Baseby was most unlucky to get excluded in heat 8 otherwise he would have had another couple of points, ditto Jack Hargreaves in heat 11. Nick Simmons stood out for me for the Islanders, he certainly never gave up once.Captains performance again from James Brundle with Daniel Halsey yet again coming back from a fall in his first ride to get wins in his 3rd and 4th rides. Excellent crowd, which must have been 99.9% locals, and considering we had the very unfortunate lengthy delay with the injury to John Resch, to get the meeting done in just over 2 hours was commendable. Our best wishes go to John, it certainly looked a very high speed impact and not something anyone wants to see, but the medical team at the track certainly looked very proffesional in the way that they dealt with it, a very important group of people who tend to be taken for granted until something like this happens. Shame today at Newport has been called off, as track time is obviously the best practice there is, and it would have been good for the riders to have had the chance to build on these performances, but hopefully one or two will still have that "point to prove attitude" against the Hawks next week.
-
As this reserve berth is "being kept warm" for Cameron Heeps, then I assume that Nick knew it was a temporary position anyway, and Chris Louis has said if Heeps isnt here by the end of May then he would be looking for a new reserve, so not exactly a suprise is it.
-
Any weather issues before we set out, if not then heres hoping for a good crowd and a good meeting, with a fen tigers win.

He might be quick in a car but he didnt look to quick on a speedway bike against Mike Bennett !
