Have I missed something somewhere, Nick is shown as riding this weekend against the Isle of Wight, so why would he be looking for a new team ?

Stoke Potters Vs Mildenhall Fen Tigers
2ndbendpostie replied to CrystalCastles's topic in National League Speedway
Yes I am sure that we would, but also, remembering where we were around Feb/March time, lets also be very gratefull that we have a speedway team to support at all. As long as they keep performing at home, thats what brings the supporters in to West Row and therefore the money into the promotion, then next year the promotion can start building their side at the same time as everyone else, and not be playing catch up a few weeks before the season starts. Edited for spelling errors ! -
Another good afternoon spent at West Row, Good to see Daniel Halsey recover to get two wins after his first two rides had him on his backside, thought Joe Jacobs looked much more his old self as well,Nick Laurence gave it a good go in his 3rd ride up against much more experienced riders. Praise should be given to the 3 other riders who managed to avoid Jack Hargreaves and his bike after his fall whilst leading in heat 4, that could have been very nasty. The crowd looked another good one, with Lynn bringing quite a few supporters, the whole package seems much more organised this year with the meeting going through in about 90 mins including a reasonable interval, and with regular interviews with riders and management from Kevin Long, it all moves along very smoothly.

Hows the weather looking down in West Row,a few clouds up here on the North Norfolk coast, hopefully a good track, good racing, and a plentifull supply of sausage and chips, perfik !

Unaccustomed as I am at defending referees ! I will on this occasion confirm Mr Entwhistle did indeed have the red lights on before they hit the first bend, and I did wonder if in fact Nick saw them and shut off whereas Jason didnt and kept the power on. -
Mildenhall V Belle Vue - Sunday 8th May

Pleased to see a good crowd there, which would have been mainly home fans, so that looks good for the future, whilst young Mr Heeps hasnt made it here yet, our other reserve Lewis Blackbird has most certainly made a good impression in all of the matches this season so far, I can certainly see why the promotion was keen to get him at the club. Prepping the track after a previous nights stock car racing has always been a problem at Mildenhall and something that was discussed on here before the season, but I thought the trackman did a pretty good job in the time he had yesterday and it seemed as long as you attacked it, as per Howarth Becker, Brundle & Hargeaves did then it was perfectly acceptable, and I have certainly seen much worse elsewhere. Also very good to see the turnout of riders having second halves, with that and a training morning coming up on Sat morning at West Row, it just gives you bit more confidence about the future of British Speedway. -

Hoping for a dry afternoon, and some good racing, we have increased our group by 50% for this one so if we all do that then there will be a hell of a crowd !. Did you get some rain there yesterday ?, if not I hope they have given it a good soaking as they did for the match against Dudley, the track looked very good that day. Weather reports from stadium area would he helpfull so we know what to expect before travelling. -
Sorry, early starts and my age means I can't manage night meetings !, but good luck to the tigers and hopefully an enjoyable meeting for everyone.

Mildenhall Fen Tigers V Dudley Heathens

What a superb track, new track record for Adam Roynon, big crowd, kevin long adding that proffesional touch on the pa, and the racing was great, heat 15 decieder brilliantly ridden by skipper James Brundle. So pleased for all those who have put in so much for this day to happen. The new set up only has had thing to sort out, the length of the chip shop queue ! -
Hi Steve, just to get a bit technical, what Mildenhall get is the saloon stock cars and the F2 brisca formula, plus the bangers, I think up at brandon you are more used to the BRISCA F1's which I agree with you are the loudest of the loud in small oval racing. If you read the court summary both sides had noise tests done proffesionally and in general no one motorsport was that much louder than the other, but as Halifax has said, speedway is a much shorter length of time so would cause less problems. Also although I have'nt followed the debate that closely, how will this new silencer rule affect the DBL readings ? could it work in Mildenhall's favour if they come in. I also understand a certain Mr Long was master of cerimonies last night, now if that man came back to do the job on matchdays !, how much would that improve things, no offence to the others that have done the job, but since Kevin packed it in, it just has not been the same.

I would have to say yes it is very important who does the track, because on many occasions they will be getting a track that 12 hours earlier was still playing host to a banger meeting, and we have seen that some are much better than others at giving a good rideable track in those situations. I do agree with the earlier poster who said that Joe Evans involvement in the track gave us much better racing. So I would think this matter will have been given some serious thought by the promotion who seem to be a proffesional set up and realise the importance of this appointment.

Fantastic news, not only that speedway is back but that it's being run by someone with a lot of experience, good luck to the new promotion, and although I do not know anything about Mr Ribbons, I think we should not overlook the part he played in all of this, it was his interest and application for league membership that got the Tigers as far as they did last week, but todays news is probably the best news to come out of West Row for some years. For those involved in the SMS campaign it must be especially satisfying.

From the official Mildenhall site, looks promising By David Crane, Cambridge News ~ Monday 7th February 2011 Mildenhall’s late bid for entry into the National League took another positive step forward at the weekend. Headed by former rider Kevin Jolly, the new three-man consortium vying to promote the Fen Tigers agreed terms with stadium boss Dave Coventry on Saturday. They must now await the approval of the British Speedway Promoters’ Association, which would see them the bolster the league to 10 teams. Coventry said: "We have struck a deal, subject to approval by the BSPA, but I cannot see why they would not get it. They are prepared to pay what is needed and the likelihood is they would be very successful in running the club considering the people involved." Coventry was due to return to the High Court today as the case involving the stadium enters its third week. The uncertainty over the venue was given as part of the reason why the BSPA rejected the Tigers’ initial application two weeks ago. The court has been asked to issue an order limiting the stadium’s activities to 40 days a year. But Coventry added: "The worse case scenario is that we would still be able to run National League speedway. The maximum home meetings would be 14. If it was Premier League, it may have impacted on the operation."

Any news on this weeks court proceedings, must be nearly finished by now surely ?, must get that stumbling block out of the way first, before our friends at the BSPA will be happy, given that was one of the reasons given for rejecting the last application.

Mildenhall - Who Decides Who The New Promoter Is?

Thanks for that, it did seem a bit strange that they choose to print a picture and then give it no detail in the accompanying article. -
Mildenhall - Who Decides Who The New Promoter Is?

I'm going off topic here but as the thread has for the time being become a bit slow moving hopefully you will forgive me, this is speedway related up to a point and the Mildenhall thread seems as good a place as any to post it as I know of at least two Norwich City fans who post here !, did anyone go to the Middlesborough v Norwich match on Monday, I didnt but my son did, and I have just got round to looking at the programme he brought back, on page 38 is a picture of ex boro legend David Armstrong astride a speedway bike, he played for boro from 73 to 80, my query is for anyone who has seen the pic, who are the two riders pictured with him, and what team would they have ridden for, did middlesborough have a speedway team at that time, ? Thanks for any info. -

Come on Malcolm it's not that unusual for us to agree, its about 50/50 I think ! Compliments of the season to you, will you be bringing the potters down to West Row this season or do you have other plans for 20011 ? -
Mildenhall - Who Decides Who The New Promoter Is?
2ndbendpostie replied to FenTiger666's topic in National League Speedway
Am I just very naive or what ?, Mr Coventry owns the stadium and asks a rent he thinks is the market rate, he has according to Mr Crane on twitter and in the printed newspaper, agreed a deal with someone to run speedway at Mildenhall next season, now that is not our business so why are some people apparently obsessed by that (unless they were wanting to get involved themselves), our interests should be that the Fen Tigers live to fight another day, the new promotor who ever he is deserves a lot of credit for taking it on, it's not going to be easy, but as a supporter all I ask is a team that can be competetive at West Row, and a regular supply of sausages and chips. Stop the negativity lets all look forward to March/April 2011 and a new speedway season. Thats waht it's all about 4 blokes on bikes, forget the politics of the sport leave that to others. -
Mildenhall - Who Decides Who The New Promoter Is?
2ndbendpostie replied to FenTiger666's topic in National League Speedway
Thinking out loud and not even sure if I agree with this idea myself but here goes anyway, Peterborough have a track, Mildenhall have a league place, why don't Mildenhall ride at Peterborough ?, That would give any new promoter, a couple of extra months to sort out things rather than waiting for a court decision on West Row. It would ensure continued speedway at what in my opinion is the best track in the country, then next year, assuming the court case goes well and Peterborough speedway sort out there problems, then both clubs could revert back to their respective homes. As I said this is me thinking out loud, and I am sure there's a 1001 reasons why this is not sensible, but at present I can't actually think of a reason why not. -

Not quite so tiger ! Dover fixtures for 2011 as on the RDC website are as follows Dover Raceway Sunday April 3 1pm National Bangers British and Masters QF, Bangerstox Masters QF, Super Rods Masters QF and Ministox Kent QF Monday April 25 1pm National Bangers British and Masters QF, Bangerstox Masters QF, Super Rods Masters QF and Reliant Robins World QF Monday May 2 1pm Big Van Bangers, Bangerstox, Super Rods and Ministox Kent QF Monday May 30 1pm Rookie Banger Crazy Day inc caravan race and DD, Bangerstox Southern Championship and Super Rods Kent Championship Sunday June 26 1pm Unlimited Bangers Kent Championship, Bangerstox, Super Rods and Ministox Kent Championship Sunday July 24 1pm National Bangers Kent Team Championship, Bangerstox Kent Championship and Super Rods Southern Championship Monday August 29 1pm National Bangers Masters QF and rollover, Bangerstox Masters QF, Super Rods Masters QF and Reliant Robins Masters Championship Sunday September 24 1pm National Bangers Masters Championship and Trophy Winners Dash, Bangerstox Masters Championship and Super Rods Masters Championship hardly alternate weekends, whilst at Mildenhall, fixtures planned for 2011 don't have many Sundays which is good news, but there are 3 Saturday night meetings planned in each of May,July and August, which given the problems Sat night stocks before Sunday speedway has caused in the past is maybe not such good news. However I hope your optimism triumphs over my pessimistic realism. Maybe I've been reading the EL threads too much recently which have caused this depression. -
Mildenhall - Who Decides Who The New Promoter Is?
2ndbendpostie replied to FenTiger666's topic in National League Speedway
Refined/unrefined ?? A matter of opinion I suppose, but better supported than speedway ??, certainly, and that I feel is why Mr Coventry will hold out for the amount of rent thats been mentioned on this thread, which some have suggested might be to high. After speedway ceased at West Row during the summer, there were quite a few Sunday afternoon banger meetings held there, with the turnstiles being kept very busy, its my guess that the revenue generated would be in excess of the rent being asked for hire of the stadium for speedway. So assuming he wins his court case re the noise etc, then if no one comes up with the readies for speedway to re commence, than he will just organise extra banger meetings, so he is really in a bit of a win/win situation. -

Good luck to Barrie, and could we have him back for 2011 season please ?. Also hope the rest of this years Mildenhall squad gets fixed up with new clubs asap. And of course, hope you get back to fitness soon Jon.

I really cant be ar*ed to comment about whats gone on and who's fault it is, just wanted to thank all the currents team for their efforts this season, it really looked a handy team, and to wish all the riders good luck in getting paid, and fixed up with new clubs very quickly indeed.

Scunthorpe Saints V ...rye Cobras Sun 4th July
2ndbendpostie replied to waco's topic in National League Speedway
Anybody happen to know if Scunny management queried his eligibility to ride before the meeting, or is all of this supporters commenting only ? Presumably the ref didnt object also ? And given that it's 5 weeks after the 4's got abandoned, and we still dont know whats happening with that tournament, then I would'nt hold out a lot of hope of this matter being discussed by anyone in authority with any urgency.
