  1. Hackney 22, Wimbledon 56 (Britiish League) 1979. A British League RECORD away win
  2. I realised after I posted this on here what Jan did in 1976. A case of information overload I'm affraid I also looking 1977 details at the time and for some reason it all got lodge in my brain. Wish I knew how to remove this topic and I have egg on my face.
  3. That's what I was thinking Parsloes 1928, it will never be done in this modern era that's for certain. I just reloaded my Wimbledon website back on the web, and I have put the full details that I of the World Championships from 1976. Visit My Website
  4. Deleted topic Moderators PLEASE remove this topic for me
  5. Nice to see Larry Ross still doing well in this competition. It reminds me of following of the New Zealand championship results when I was at school. Hopefully next year he will win his tenth title.
  6. Sorry Puma23 I don't have the full stats for the 1996 & 97 Dutch championship.
  7. Wheather you think that Mangus should be in the GPs or not. He earned his place by right by qualifying unlike some other riders who got wild card pick
  8. According to the Speedway Star 2009 Yearbook, that has a full list of all national championships. 1996 Ralf Strack (Germany) 1997 Roy Verbrugge
  9. According to Speedway Star March 27 1970, the Wimbledon meeting was raced one day before the Hackney Vs Newport (British League Division 1) match. It also worth mentioning in previous issues of Speedway Star that year, in the fixtures Wimbledon were scheduled to race on the 19th March, in the fixture list.
  10. From the Speedway Star 1970. 1st race winner in the UK meeting March 19 (only meeting that day) Wimbledon 52, Hackney 26 (Metropolitan Gold Cup) Heat 1 Reg Luckhurst, Jim Tebby, Les McGillivray, Bengt Jansson 5-1 64.6 January 3rd Sydney, Australia 1970 Australia 49, England 58 Heat 1 Eric Boocock, Jim Airey, Bert Kingston, Jimmy McMillan 57.7 I try and dig out the other results for you tommorow.
  11. Told you that there was a meeting in November '76. I was at Waterden Road that night. Brilliant performance from the Dons that night, and without Stefan Salomonsson who failed to arrive. Young Brendan Shilleto was nonimatede for hear two riding at number 8 but was a non starter. So a 6-man team won it for the Dons.
  12. I forgot about the White City event, even though I was there. Yes November 1 Wimbledon won the London Cup at Hackney. It ended a very tragic season for the Dons, with a bit of silverware. I also seem to remember that Wimbledon had a home meeting on the 4th November in the wearly-to-mid eighties (Halifax I think) after the original fixture was postponded two or three times.
  13. Sorry Slickmick, the 'Dons' did not feature any double headers home or away in '76, except for the London Cup match at Hackney. When Hackney raced against Wimbledon and White City at home in November. The 'Dons' won the cup by beating Hackney 49 - 29 in the first fixture, of the London Cup.
  14. That's OK Steve19620 I din't want to step on anyones toes as they say. Just happy to help.

  21. Totally agree with Iris123, Emil will win next season at a romp. He can only get better after his season in the GPs. I personally will be putting a very nice bet on him. Wouldn't surprise me if the bookies havedown him down as favourite, in 2010.
  22. My brother phoned me when I was writing this, no-wonder it dosen't make sense. Too much multi-tasking going on there. Can't remember what I was going to say now, sorry. I think that Leigh Adams will be asked if he whats a wild card. Along with Zagar or even Lindback. Can't see more then one British rider in the GP next year.
  23. Whether people like the fact that Magnus Zetterstrom will be a GP rider or not next season. It must be pointed out he is there by right, after qualifying from a very tough meeting and other qualifying rounds. Some of the riders that you Budgie didn't even make it to the GP challenge final, so why should they be put in front of Magnus Zetterstrom who won the GP challenge event, it doesn’t make sense. He may be older then the riders you mention, but he qualified and they didn't. I wish they bring back the GP challenge as they used to have it, with the bottom seven riders from the GP series meeting the top nine from the GP challenge event. These riders then can fight it out for eight places. And rid of the stupid wild card, which most of the time is a complete waste. Or even better still go back in time and make all riders qualify, like the old qualifying rounds in the past.
