More updates now added on Matt Browne's recent meetings.

Tried to get on the link but it said I wasn't authorised !!!

From what I was told --and was discussing with Tony Steele as we were on the same flight home --was that by the time his federation were informed of his elevation to 2nd reserve and this was passed on to him this did not leave him sufficient time to make the necessary travel arrangements and get his bikes ready etc. In the end what a pity this was as he would have ended up in the actual meeting after his Sheffield team mate Ben Wilson's unfortunate crash in practice. On another note here's one for future quiz questions --which defunct CL track who are still racing as and when they get fixtures have been involved in the last two rounds of the Under 21 Championship at Sheffield and at Pocking ?? Need to know the track, the link and the rider involved!!

Absolutely correct Bagpuss. I was gutted for him. He was winning his second ride comfortably but picked up big style entering turn one (as Lindback had done the prevous race) and went into the boards by the pits heavily and hurt his back. It was purely down to the track with the dirt piled up and I did request, as Troy's representative (Aussie hat on this time!!) , along with Jan Stachmann and Matts Olsson, more grading. Had Troy won that one he would have been one of five riders as joint leaders on 8 after three rides! I must credit him with his attitude at the meeting . He was really down but we talked through things before the run off for the reserve spot and he came out really determined even after losing the toss for gate positions but the outside favoured him anyway and he did the business. I have read criticism of Troy on other threads and amazingly we talked about this and attitude on the trip over and credit where it is due , his was first class and hopefully a lot was learned from the trip that will stand him in good stead for the future. Although he only goes to the final in Terenzano as reserve anything can happen between now and September and I am more than willing to again give up a weekend to travel with him and assist --the offer is there .

Had a txt off Steve Piper's girlfriend Rachel yesterday that said that Steve was back in Dorchester Hospital --they think he might have pneumonia again plus a chest infection. Here's to wishing him all the best and to seeing him back in the pits with George again soon.

Apologies Fairies --only knew myself yesterday that he had!! Will try to get his second half schedule on site once I have spoken to him.

No probs BobC --say hello next time!! Missed all the bit on Somerset as was still trying to round up any of the other lads for Peter and only caught the end of the conversation. Personally hope it's another night other than the 30th as I'd like to see as many of the U-15 rounds as possible and as I'm off to Germany the following day on 1st July for the u-21 , the Friday at the OTA would have been difficult. As for the helmet colour fiasco perhaps had the rules Peter had sent out been read ..... ????!!! But it was all sorted quickly by Peter and I and only affected the quarter final!!

I did say don't take the dates as gospel!! It was mentioned to the riders by Peter.

After a few falls and a slow start , a good meeting for the lads --with Amy unfortunately crashing out after looping at the gate in heat 1. The trainee ref though was VERY slow at putting on red lights when riders fell --in fact did so once when the rider was alongside the fallen rider --and was very poor. Full marks to all who took part. If I remember what Peter Oakes said it's Somerset on June 30th , Scunthorpe on July 9th, and the IOW on August 17th --but don't take that as being absolutely correct!!

Blimey --found the thread here in the International section. I had posted it in General Discussions and thought it had been wiped out and then was surprised to see it had been moved to here !!

Great to see Mario getting through. -
To update the situation --- Steve's good lady Rachel has so far manged to raise half the engine money in sponsorship but is trying to get together some extra to cover the balance on his kevlars above what he received from his sponsors and a bill for £111 from Interspan he needs to settle. George has been kindly loaned one of Ollie Gay's bikes today for the 2nd day of the Phil Morris session. George would like to thank Brian and Ollie Gay for their much valued help.
-
Bit more news --- Adam Mittl unfortunately broke is wrist racing at Batavia on Friday night and will be out of action for a month. Also noticed in the meeting reports from the USA from Ryan Evans that the Facchini brothers were both back in action last weekend.

Had a text yesterday off Steve Piper, George's dad. He has been riding at Stoke under the guidance of Phil Morris for two days and Whizzer had him flying and from what Steve says George was going the best he had ever seen him. Then his engine blew big time going into the third turn and he took a nasty tumble ( like a rag doll was what I was told) but he is okay with just cuts and bruises. But the engine is a complete write-off. This means that every engine he has have blown up in recent weeks and he now has none left to race on. He has the chance to buy an engine but needs some sponsorship towards it. If he cannot raise the £1000 he requires he looks like missing the first few rounds of the under 15 championship and will have to sit part of the season out and naturally he is gutted at the thought of this, His dad has been off work long term with a knee problem and cannot afford to pay out for another engine. George and Steve have been talking to a few sponsors to raise the necessary amount but if anyone out there wants to help him towards it they can e-mail me at : laurencerogers@ic24.net and I will pass on your details. To anyone who can help --a BIG thank you from George !!

So sorry Dekker ! But there a lot of fans who followed the Dream Team so if there's news I will continue to post it!! As for Matt --had lunch In Cardiff with him ,along Chris Kerr and his girlfriend and a few others . I know he is at Wolves in the 2nd half tonight and I believe Sheffield on Thursday but will confirm that with him. I know he had a good time --he was certainly "very merry" as we met up with him on the way into the stadium!!

Thanks .

I did forget to put that Merle Craven --who was one of Adam Mittl's mechanics from New York is also back over. Welcome back Merle!! If any rider is looking for a mechanic he is ready and willing !!

Well the Dream Team tour may well have finished but the lads are keeping tabs on the UK scene. Matt Browne is the first of the 2006 side back in the UK and he was in action last night in the 2nd half at Sheffield , riding well and reaching the Final where he finished 2nd . He is at Somerset tonight and is trying to get as many rides as he can. He was due to have been joined by Tim Gomez soon but the 17 year old has just had the results of a MRI scan on his knee and he is now going to have an op on it before he can fly over for the summer , also trying to get as many rides as possible. Will update this when I know when he is coming. Neil Facchini was also planning a trip but he was injured and wrecked his bike the other week in a crash --but when fit may be over. Was also great to to see 2005 Dream Team member Dario Galvin last night at Sheffield with his dad Brian. They are en-route to Poland for the World Under 21 semi at Leszno next weekend and getting in a few British meetings before heading off to Poland on Tuesday. He hopes to be back on the 2007 Dream Team tour.
