Sheffield v Newcastle 05.04.18
idanthyrsus replied to Cue Ball's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Who would you have out in as a tac sub? All riders ride to their average and got 4-6 points. -
Isn't it easier to keep going and turn left onto grace st? I live 160 miles away do can't go to brough. Don't fancy several hours in the car to watch that team at Workington or Sheffield either. Can't see one rider on that team who is going to improve, therefore the team will get around 33 points away from home.
-
I rather suspect this is a "holding" 1-7. As soon as some of the polish mob realise they aren't going to ride and make themselves available, a change will be made.
-
I only get to away matches. And only a handful at that. Can't say I'm looking forward to going to Sheffield or Workington watching that team. Racing likely to be very poor.

Well, I suppose a rider line up of (my guess) Ludvig Lindgren 7.21 Tero Aarnio 5.02 Lewis Rose 6.49 Matthew Wethers 5.65 Stuart Robson 7.02 Carl Wilkinson 4.97 Ashley Morris 4.88 Isn't about to spread terror through the ranks of the speedway world. Going on the principle of let's not finish last in every heat, whilst acknowledging first places may be few and far between.

If that team were riding in the street I'd shut the curtains. I'm hoping the roynan rumour is a windup...

I'm pretty sure Sean Wilson has retired. I very much hope....

What Would You Change In Speedway Next Season?
idanthyrsus replied to 4thbender's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Instead of each team declaring a 1-7, why not just get all available riders for the season and put them into three pools, one for heat leaders, one for second strings and one for reserves. Then for each match, each promoter can select the riders he wants (three heat leaders, two second strings and two reserves) to compete in each fixture. Oh, hang on... That's what happens now.... -
Chris Harris And The 28 Day Ban
idanthyrsus replied to SCB's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I'm assuming you are referring to Sir Arthur "bomber" Harris. -
Josh Auty And The Not 28 Day Ban

Surely to God we should be looking in the rulebook for the length of a ban, not a single incident from 12 years ago? -
Ipswich V Newcastle 1june 17
idanthyrsus replied to Baldyman's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
If I've told you once I've told you a million times - DONT EXAGGERATE! -
There are unpleasant supporters at any track. When I've been to worky, I've sat next to some very pleasant worky supporters who actually applauded some of the races where a Newcastle rider had won a good race. My daughter was cheering on all Newcastle riders quite vociferously, with no untoward comments. I guess it just depends if you are unlucky to be stood or sat next to somebody who ruins your meeting.
-
What was the alternative? Weather forecast was for the rain to stop which would have allowed track work to be carried out to potentially get the meeting on. As the rain hasn't stopped in time the only option is to call the meeting off. What would you have preferred? That the meeting was cancelled prior to a drop of rain falling on the off-chance that it might?

Save Speedway From "death By Eu"
idanthyrsus replied to 4thbender's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Now that article 50 has been triggered we must leave the EU. If the deal is not approved by parliament (or any one of the 27 nations in the EU) then we will simply leave with no deal. -
Save Speedway From "death By Eu"
idanthyrsus replied to 4thbender's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
We aren't leaving the EU for two years. Until then, the ecj still has primacy over British law. When the repeal bill is implemented all EU law will be transferred into British law. So this nonsense needs to be stopped now or it will be too late. -
It's a tough call this early in the season. You would _hope_ most promoters would expect larger crowds at the early meetings as they will have been promoting the sport for the last couple of months. That being the case you don't want a load of people new to speedway to arrive and watch poor racing because you inevitably end up with a slick track if you've had to carry out emergency work on the track. I arrived just as it was called of at around 17:45, it had just chucked it down, but I was hoping that the time to the start of the meeting would be enough to turn the track around. It was fairly obvious it wasn't going to rain again with the blue skies, but the decision was made and that was that. Sadly, it's part and parcel of travelling to away matches.
