Ben Cook 3,3,3,2,1 = 12

not a bad score for him today over in Poland, considering his arm must be hanging on by a thread šŸ‘šŸ» good job the Lynn meeting is off tomorrow because he must be in excruciating pain to only score 12 šŸ™„

Has he been binned off by Smerdena or just not getting picked in there 1-7’s? It’s interesting that he’s not racing for them, but if Lynn got rid of him if that would change…

Also, he now fits in the averages for BV as a replacement for Blodorn. Again, if Lynn did part ways with him, I wonder how quickly BV would redeclare with him in their lineup and how committed to them he’d be…

No idea mate, maybe they’re not picking him because he’s being a bit of a twit šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

I think if we let him go and Aces snapped him up he’d be magically okay again then šŸ‘šŸ»

Sounds childish, but if I thought he'd go to Belle Vue, I'd keep him just to stop that happening.

Really hate how some riders treat British Speedway.

I just can’t see Lynn getting rid of him because there is literally no one else to go for… and as much as 4th place is pretty much a no hope, they really don’t want to make the team any weaker unless there’s no other option šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø as sometimes R/R is better than signing a weaker riderĀ

Morning all , I was watching some old 1980's Youtube videos on speedway last night, and it brought back memories of when I was in late teens and used to watch Loram and Gustaffson at Lynn both masters of balance.

I stopped going probably 1990 ish.

I wonder if anyone has any stories of what went wrong between Bill Barker and Malcolm Simmons they took over Lynn in 1988 from memory put together a power house team that for what ever reason didn't work out then they then had a falling out.

Bill Barker should have been in stand up I used to go to the winter talk in's and he was pure comedy and was on the terraces selling raffle tickets but it was clear he wasn't happy with Simmo for some reason.

The terrace charecters I remember were Wild Wayne who used to do the war chant and a fella me and one of my best friends christianed Nutter who used to spend all his time in the bar on the second bend downing pints he looked hard as nails and wouldn't watch any of the racing but would come out and go mental whenever Richard Knight circled round from memory nutter later did the same for Amando Dalle Chelle.

Any stories would be appreciated from anyone who remembers the charecters and can throw a bit of light on what went wrong with Barker and Simmo, seem to remember there was a hu ha with Barker and someone burgling his house.

Does Wild Wayne still go , would imagine Nutter is now pushing up daisies given the amount of pints and fags he would smoke during the meeting he was pure north lynn hard as but he was a proper character.

Not sure if this was 80's or 70's but i remember a character called soldier boy who was a big Peter Collins fan and when he came to Lynn everyone could hear him as he was quite loud when telling everyone how good Peter was. I remember that when Peter retired soldier boy then was a big Neil Evitts fan. Not seen soldier boy for many years now unfortunately.

I remember Soldier Boy at Blackbird Road when he was a big Ray Wilson fan. He stood right by the starting gate and was a well known character. He later supported Ole Olsen before Ole came to Coventry. It was about that time that I last saw him, sadly.Ā
Replaying those memories reminds of the trumpet player from Ipswich who seemed to be on the terraces everywhere the Witches were riding. Those were the days when Ipswich was a British club. No foreign riders. Oh how times have changed.

There used to be a few of us, who used to stand on the 2nd bend at that time. Right next to the bar. Some of us used to drink like a fish. After the meeting some of us would go to the bar on the home straight. Back then a lot of riders used to go in for a pint after the meeting. From there you could get in Champs night blub free. Was great times.Ā

I though i saw wild Wayne there about 3 years ago, but i might of been mistaken. Can't recall, the "Nutter" character. Although 2 of us was from North Lynn.

Use to go into Champs after the meetings on a Saturday night, then into town early in the morning for a pizza. Can you remember a whip round for Nigel Leavers girlfriend to take all her top half clothes off,she did it and the money went towards the Leaver's equipment that went bang that night. We had some great nights with all the riders back in the dayšŸŗšŸ»
