You can't magically declare he should be an 8 point rider, just because he's the second heat leader. I'm sure Scunthorpe & MPT hoped for a little improvement, rather than holding his average, but what 6 point rider is gonna come in & score points as their back up to Pickering? If a heat leader was available, should've signed him after Pickering's average dropped and before Ingram's average rose. So blame the management for not having a second heat leader, rather than a "second string" having to ride "out of position". You always point to the averages, but we all see What MPT can do when he feels like it,if he doesn’t gate he seldom gives his all ,that’s the frustration he is better that your average 6pt rider. Even if you want to look at more than just stats & I agreed MPT should be doing better, I did think he'd do a little better and weren't happy with his efforts when he doesn't make the gate (I've not seen him this year, so can only comment on his scores / average) I still maintain it'd be hard to find a better 6 pointer racing at number 5 (unless Scunny signed Kye Thomsen). Scunthorpe's management not being smart enough / ruthless enough with Pickering's average drop is what's costing them imo. Although they're currently well placed after picking up 3 away points, could be even stronger. Edited 3 hours ago by szkocjasid
