Glasgow v Edinburgh , Easter Sunday
MD replied to Weeyin's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
We'd better get a move on with rain now forecast from 6 and heavy rain from 7. Whilst that can change between now and 5pm the last thing we need is a rain off on opening night. -

Glasgow win the toss and take gates 2 & 4. Really! How many years have we been going there. #WTF -

Castagna to come alive in ht14 having otherwise been anonymous. Close meeting in prospect. -
We ran out of steam towards the end of that season, both points wise and money wise! Sweetman was never heard of again.
-
Some decent gating would be preferable, not his forte and always harder coming from the back if not on decent equipment.
-
Ringwood deserved a second season IMO, he was better than the others around this era but not to be.
-
We were skint and couldnt attract or pay anyone else.
-
Around the Championship bar Plymouth. A definite no.
-
Got to agree, showed his true colours taking the lead role in the rain off nonsense last year. No thanks.
-
The Premiership is s-h-i-t and its Glasgow.
-
They wouldnt come to watch six championship riders and a slightly better rider of the Zagar, Kurtz level and neither would I. GP Challenge there were plenty but the field was superb.

Lockdowns have indeed hammered the UK population and it'll be 5-10 years before we can accurately judge the consequences on society against what the benefits were. With continuing lack of access to timely healthcare I suspect it won't be positive. However I digress, the most noticeable change is in the older generation who no longer come out to play. It doesnt seem to be a lack of money but a lack of motivation to go out. Its noticeable at Glasgow and I've also seen it at Glasgow Warriors where the old team are happy to watch on tv but not show up anymore.

No one will be queueing up to manage the team. Its a massive commitment with time off work and travel for little more than your travel expenses. Dickson wasnt perfect as TM, we've all seen that, neither was Ian Steel but Im sure he has grown into the role each season and become more mature in his decision making. He wont take any s-h-i-t from riders especially the Hans Andersen types who will dominate if given the opportunity and Im certain no one will tell him they arent going out in a heat because it doesnt suit. We need someone like that, if anyone is out there, just not Dickson again.

They will ruin all leagues to protect the Premiership. Always has been whether it was Elite League, Division 1 etc. They may be under pressure from Discovery Eurosport to enhance the product as its a pretty poor spectacle as is. Leicester will add nothing to that IMO. It needs more teams to join as uneven number means there is always someone not riding that week, or fortnight, or month!

Glasgow v Poole/Plymouth Sunday 25 September 2022 - Semi-final Championship Play offs
MD replied to SharpenRake's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Calling off mid meeting last Sunday didnt help, with fans having turned out on a baltic evening to watch 5 heats in 90 minutes. BSN will have been the benefactors tonight and I have to say I quite like them. You get a lot more behind the scenes info especially from the pits and its Championship focused unlike Eurosport where Kelvin is clueless about our league. Sedgmen is good to listen to as is Greg Blair. -

March and October speedway don't bring the best out in the track. Its not usually much fun for the fans to endure either. -

From the outside looking in its leadership that appears to be missing in the team. Cook abdicated the captaincy, Ulle took it on then got injured, Brennan was next in line but he's not experienced enough and not the personality for that type of role IMO. Danyon alluded to it at Poole that no one was talking to each other to make changes and get things going. Contrast that with the Poole pits where Lawson and King were trying to start Z Cooks bike for ht1. Im not sure the riders are as well paid as you believe but agree they appear to be a collection of individuals this year. Broc seems to have been in a world of his own, just jogging along at his own pace regardless of the opposition or event. -

Promoters and riders appear to be the biggest problem, it should be the BSPL telling clubs when fixtures have to be run by to stop this nonsense. God forbid there should be an outbreak of common sense. -

Think you will be right but he has made himself much more marketable to others with that average. -

Good points but the same weaknesses have persisted all season. Nicol looks like he's never ridden Ashfield before. -

Poole peaking at the right time, Glasgow absolutely gutless. Time for change in 2023. -

You should work for the BBC with that s-h-i-t stirring narrative. -
To support Glasgow? No chance.
-
Agree with all that except Fredricksen, wouldn't touch him. Hook might be worth a punt if we thought he could progress though looks like he can't drop below a 4.00. Sarj could be in demand next year if the points limit is driven down. We could have done with Ulle's sharp gating last night just like he did down there in July. Claus Vissing 5.00, Jake Allan 6.30, Dillon Ruml 5.47, Ricky Wells 5.20, only kidding .

Overhauled coming off the second bend. No one could make up ground on the rider in front not even the Poole heatleaders in the two heats Glasgow actually gated.
