The site can only be used for sporting events ONLY. As said before it was given to the council under these strict guidelines by lord and lady Wimborne many years ago.

The stadium could well be re-developed but a stadium must still remain on the site.

Like Long Eaton which was specified sport only (and some others). It now has housing on it. Any covenant means absolutely nothing.

You also need a completely different fence for stock cars. Kirky Lane used heavy duty chains, Coventry had Armco barriers, Kings Lynn has a solid steel fence. I don’t know what Sheffield and Scunthorpe use.
The centre “green” at both Coventry and Kings Lynn was concreted over to allow the stocks to drive on then without damage. Kirky Lane was just a muddy mess.
One of the “failures” (in my opinion) of the NSS is the lack of success in turning what is the best Speedway stadium in the UK into a multi-purpose venue. Look at what Somerset have achieved with turning their place into a busy function hub. Weddings, birthdays, even (though maybe now regretted) a venue for a Conservative Party rally. Maybe it’s the difference between one venue being run by its owners, the other by employees.

The centres at Coventry and Kings Lynn were concreted to allow other events such as Karting. Had nothing to do with other users of the venues, just ways of looking to increase revenue.

  3. This plays into the developers hands to say its unviable. Should be in a higher league with the fans supporting in good numbers to prove them wrong.

National league at Leics will be a disaster. Well done Horton you clown. Putting the last nails into the bees coffin.

  4. Travellers spotted on site. Metal entrance doors force opened. I expect by the morning all the glass windows in stadium will be smashed and anything else that can be trashed, will be. All despite assurances of security on site.

Did Brandon Estates invite them? Convenient timing- funny how its lasted til now for them to appear now theres been talk of a lower tier return.

  5. Just to add Brandon Estates Jersey Ltd was called Investin Brandon jersey Ltd until 2015. There is an Investin Brandon Ltd based in Solihull also.

Investin brandon has a director Anthony Copeland who is also a director of first house associates. Sandhu is also a director of first house associates. Does Copeland have connection to brandon estates?

  6. So 12 years to raise £56k. New venue even basic would cost a over a million. So at that rate which would also need the club to keep running to collect it, it would take over 20 years to fund. Unless supporters buy 10 times the number of 50/50. And then you'd still need planning. Sounds like a non starter to me??

  7. At the end of the festive season, if anybody in Brandon village is struggling to take down their lights?, please apply to Coventry Speedway who are willing to help and even come back next year, to put them back up for you, maybe.

But they may also saw your tree down, take your fencing away, remove your cooker, dig big holes in your garden, pull your doors and gates off their hinges, remove your garden seating and rip all your electrics out. Its ok though if they put it back for next year.

  8. No planning app put in to build houses. Obvious whats going to happen here. Kick everyone out at year end and let the place fall into disrepair until they get what they want. Oxford, Long Eaton, ring any bells????

Must not be allowed to happen.

  9. THE BSPA would like to remind all fans that it is illegal to stream any portion of meetings without prior permission from the Association.

In recent weeks there has been an increase in the number of occasions when meetings have been shown using the app Periscope.

This is a breach of copyright, is against our agreement with BSkyB and GSI, and will be taken very seriously by all clubs within the Sport.

Anyone found to be live streaming meetings without prior agreement will be banned from attending matches across the leagues.

As a sport it is important we embrace the ever-changing world of social media, but at the same time we also have to protect our product.

Whereas the current belle vue fiasco, sky cancelled meetings weather forecast fiasco, etc etc does nothing to harm the product at all?????!!!!!!!

  10. I just dont understand how they are so confident they will be building on brandon. No application has been put in yet and may not get agreed? For sure its very hard to get permission for anything in this area. Even a small development over the road at garden centre was refused?

And what happens if planning for houses is refused? Surely permission would be needed to just demolish the current site. Are the hangers not protected in some way.

And the proposed new build being an eco site sounds like it would push up costs. Cant see those being met. If sandhu wanted return on investment by selling brandon why put money in a new build that would see him long gone from this world before it started to make profit.

Hope the bees and stox find a way to keep going but im not hopeful from what ive read so far.

I just don't get this. How could they have been forced out? It was also common knowledge that Martin didn't have his father's keen interest in Speedway so he and Linda must have put the stadium up for sale in the first place. Mr Sandhu couldn't have bought something that wasn't for sale.

Not distraught enough to sell up? Builders been sniffing round brandon for years. Was only a matter of time. Sandhu at least still appears to keep an interest. That is the only hope against other venues when faceless corporations have sold out...We await the outcome. Of course the brandon planning app needs to go through first??

  12. Nothing like rewriting history is there? Just as the football club have done. The dons moved to milton keynes?? Afc have no history with plough lane.

And speedway was chucked out by galliard. Maybe if someone had millions to flatter the owners they may have been saved. But some people live in the real world. And a new dog stadium just may have seen them persuaded to have a speedway track there.
