  1. There you go................
  2. I see it but still don't understand it................maybe I'm not so well into the stats as some of you. But 12 has always been my understanding i.e. 4 rides and four wins = 12 points = 12 average. Everything is therefore calculated via 4 rides....??
  3. Well I've certainly never seen a plus 12 average, for any rider, in any speedway publication i.e. Speedway Star or matchday programmes..Also after scouring the excellent British League book by Peter Oakes I don't see any rider with 12 or above. I do of course stand to be corrected.
  4. You can't have a 13 plus average...............the maximum is 12 points...........and no one achieves that, some have come fairly close though.

    Workington 2024

Out on the very same limb as they were in 1970 to 1981 and 1999 to 2018......during both of those periods I recall very much of seeing a great many away followers at Derwent Park....then enjoying a pint with many post meeting. Workington is not on Mars ok.???

    Peterborough Panthers 2023

Are you seriously saying the '4 wheels' racing never stops over "around 3 hrs".............give over that's not true....there is plenty of non action while the track is cleared of debris. And if speedway action is only 15 minutes long , as you say, then I wouldn't be able to down a pint...or go for the mandatory p...........nah you are entitled to opinion even though it's rubbish.

    Kent Vs Workington 6/8/23 12:00

Thanks bigdave.....had a look at google shots. Looks like two tracks - I presume training is on the agenda for both of them? The overall view seems spartan to say the least - car parking would appear to be difficult. But good luck to all who keep this Royals venture going - I have read the statement from who appears to be the 'main man', and have every sympathy with him and his probs.

Cheers marra...................have you, or has anyone else, got any photos of the Royals track pls ? I've mentioned it in a previous post but way back in the early 1970's my late wife and I visited her aunt in Sittingbourne, summertime. I had seen in a speedway publication mentions of a track at Iwade - so off we went to look for it (satnav, what was that?).....We found it but my fading memory has me thinking it was grass track with a rope fencing us off from the action.......but we enjoyed it, then set off for the nights action at Canterbury Crusaders versus our beloved Comets....big crowd, big defeat...still a good experience though.

Yeah last four heats won by Comets...but four lasts. Did anyone there find time to count the crowd numbers?.....I mean it won't have been difficult, or taken long.

    Special Comets meeting 29th july

And yes that's a fact Geoff.............many regulars missed a good speedway session. I think after casting my eyes all around there was about 600/700 in attendance - certainly the smallest gathering since northside opened. I had the surprise pleasure of standing next to a Comet of the first generation of the team i.e. Mark Dickinson - enjoyed the craic with him. Hopefully see you again Mark marra. Oh and well done to winner Ashton Boughen. (hope your dad's keeping well son)............
  14. In the 1960's ... I think.....a guy rode the 'Bobs' coaster for a world record length of time.....(presumably having food/toilet breaks ?????).
  15. True... and of course you could see the speedway track when on board the railway.......And nearby that ride there was a 'wall of death' motorbike rider...the guy set off on the bottom then as he picked up speed he would zoom around the inside of the circular track sideways, as the people watched at the top. Scary I recall and Belle Vue was the only place I ever saw such a remarkable event.
  16. 'Cumbria Crack' has posted re thunderstorms around Workington area for tomorrow.......................hopefully wrong crack.
  17. So is that proof of something 'fishy' about these Pirates????
  18. So very similar to a couple of speedway's high profile guys?
  19. Seems you are not the only one,,, (only not are the you one seems).................Silly Boys Club = SBC.............not SCB.
  20. Neither is THJ's forum sparring mate 'jenga'......always enjoyed their word wars on here.
  21. What was the point of getting the back of your hand stamped as you paid your £13 last week.? Perhaps some form of stopping the 'freebies'? At least Northside doesn't seem to have the 'ladders and planks' brigade who peered over the Derwent Park fence.
  22. So did you enjoy your visit today??
  23. Yeah I agree DP gone re speedway bye bye.....Northside is like the weather hot hot...and so much more picturesque....great work by the track staff....
  24. Which is exactly what I've said in my post....... It was all to do with a new stadium plans and enabling Derwent Park to accomodate the footballing Reds to allow building work on their ground......Maybe you disagree with rental arrears I mentioned? I don't know if that was true or rumours but doesn't matter anymore.
  25. See geoff Town were put in a position where they couldn't avoid getting rid of the 'old track'..............I'm, hopefully reliably, informed the Town RLFC were owed rental money. But despite that financial situation Town were trying to assist in the proceedings of a planned new stadium, to be jointly shared by the Reds and Town. The new stadium to be built on the current Reds area, with Reds moving to Derwent Park on a temp basis....therefore the football pitch requirements/size would of course mean no speedway track. Also when the new stadium was eventually built it was planned to dispose of Derwent Park completely......so don't blame Town for tearing up the speedway track they had no option but to do that. Of course all these plans fell on stony ground via a prominent council officials input - which wasn't popular with rl and soccer devotees. Anyway I think the Northside track shape is better than that of Derwent Park.......many a time I held my breath as someone went too wide on a very risky fourth bend at DP.
